What's the point in playing ranked in pre-season?

I made a similar thread to this before but never got an adequate answer.

From my knowledge you get your rank reseted anyway, so is there any actual point in playing ranked in pre-season/right now?

To get more chances to become a toxic player because the amount of trolls and inting players you will get in your ranked games.

That is the point of pre-season.

Get used to the changes so you don't have to adapt during reg season or to Manipulate your starting MMR.

I personally enjoy ranked simply due to fewer dodges. If I try to play a normal draft I usually have to go through 5 or 6 queues before I finally get a game.

I play ranked because I feel like the match making is a bit better. I usually/almost always play with B2-S3 in ranked but when I play norms I occasionally get stuck with Golds and Plats along with some Irons.

You can practice a little but that's about it. A lot of people troll and afk in preseason so I wouldn't recommend playing until the reset, and even after the reset I'd recommend waiting until everyone else does their placements.

Rank resets but MMR does not. If you can raise your MMR during preseason, it will be a little easier to place higher early on.

The reset isn't a hard reset but a soft one. Which means you don't start from square one. Increasing your rank in preseason will still be beneficial since your starting rank next season would be higher than if you didn't play ranked during preseason (assuming you actually climb somewhat). It will also let you play "closer" matches (as long as the people playing ranked care about it) so you can adapt to the preseason changes better and have a much better feel of them and how people around your elo think about them.

you play for several reasons

  1. Rank gets reset but it's not a full reset it's like a half or part reset.
  2. you can still improve your gameplay and make yourself better which is the most important thing to getting a higher rank.

Though the real question is if you find the game fun right now or if you just can't care enough about it to play.

No good reason at all, i suggest aram to practice other skills or some 3 vs 3 to help as well (well that isn't an option any more), maybe play some Nexus blitz for fun and help with teamwork (oh wait they removed that as well).

Guess there isnt any reason to play preseason much less when season starts unless you like ARAM/RGM.
