As someone who tried Mordekaiser on the PBE and tested out ways, I must say:

His solo lane has gotten better and his duo is still weak if he goes AD.

Reason:

I went Mordekaiser and used critical items that give both AS, MS, or AD. I also got runes that would help with it, by getting MS bonus runes, health regen runes, and MR and Armor to be safe. In his masteries, I went from the tanky Mordekaiser to the more AD style while also adding additional MS (the sub total was 6% bonus) and now he has almost 345 when he starts.

The sad thing is, I tested it out on a Yasuo, whom Mordekaiser completely negates. Both scale off shields and stuff. I even had a thing going with me vs Yi and when I went all in, I won. This is Master Yi at max level and full critical build.

His Q is great for pushing still. But his AA is way better.

His W is great for junglers to gank, and they feel safe to do so.

His E is still the same.

His R holds so much power.

The change isn't fantastic but I figured out that this can work.

Now, in his duo lane.

His Q cannot reach the opponent half the time. He gets over crowded and his passive doesn't work properly. His E works the same. His W is active more, but it doesn't deal much or heal a lot when building AD. His R is his only real power. His is also vulnerable to ganks and with his MS and his big model size he is a easy target. It will be hard for him to get back to turret.

His duo should be buffed if that's what they're going for.

(The only reason I'm posting this here is because the PBE boards are very silent right now and little to no REDs are commenting there.)

his solo lane has not improved imo

maybe his top lane trades better with a Q max, but his mid lane is definitely worse vs most meta picks

try maxing his W in a duo lane, i started having a ton of success with that on the PBE

what damage items would you say are best on him? i can't seem to get any sort of build I like without feeling like it doesn't improve much, but an AD build seems like it would want to get item 3074 item 3072 for the AD scaling, maybe item 3146 instead

i'm not sure if I should be focusing on AD or AP; AD seems to give me the best consistent damage, but AP gives me a better heal and a much stronger ult. i don't like how confusing he can feel sometimes

Naw, there is a new item that is like item 3074 but better for Mordekaiser (almost like his kit was made this way to compensate this item...). It instead sends out waves of damage in front of Morde rather than just around him. I also stay away from item 3146 as it would be fine for AP Morde, on AD Morde, its just there.

The AP ratio on his W is poor and lets face it, too sorry for how little it can be used. Mordekaiser doesn't gain much from the spell itself and must hit something to work. It's a weak AP scale and works the same without AP unless you want to go full AP; then he might be able to gain some but you now rely on his kit which does heal better but it still costs health. Sadly, his AD side still seems better since he doesn't rely on his kit and can just regain health from simple AA and he doesn't rely on his kit as much.

And if no one is going to try and continue to ask for changes, don't get mad when someone posts something that may at least give some thought on what you could do for a solo lane or duo lane Mordekaiser. I'm not happy with these changes either as it doesn't even give a good duo lane.

item 3146 should work on Mordekaiser regardless of what you're building. It gives both stats, which makes it doubly effective on him, though I'd have to do the math to see if the 80 AP/40 AD can hold up to a high-AD item. You can also recharge it much faster than almost anyone else who might want to use it because most of your damage is from your autos. The spellvamp also applies to your Q damage because it's magic and counts as a spell, so it actually gives him a lot of sustain with AD Mord.

I don't really like Titanic that much on him, to be honest. It doesn't give you as much scaling on your Q and it's got twice as long of a cooldown. The health is nice, sure, but I think Ravenous will win out since it provides better healing and stronger auto-attacks. Titanic is good, don't get me wrong, but the 20 second cooldown makes it less appealing on a character who's very heavily oriented around constant damage. If they hadn't nerfed the base on-hit, I might consider it. Plus item 3074 item 3146 and then tank makes him very durable and he heals up a ton with it.

I guess all I can say is to try it on his new kit. Never know until then.

That is because they don't give a damn, I've played him on the PBE too, and he still has all the same core issues.

Question: Does mordekaiser's abilities scale with AD now, and is he ranged?

toonpang1 votes

Morde's Q [Mace of Spades] has always scaled with AD.

With the rework, E [Siphon of Destruction], which is his 650 ranged ability, has been given 25 more range and an AD ratio.

So reworked Mordekaiser now scales with AP, HP, and AD.

His attack range has been increased to 200, but he's still technically a melee champion, yes, not ranged. His E gives him the ability to deal some damage to enemy ADCs, who normally have around 575 range with their autoattacks.

However, even with the increase of range on his E, it is important to note his damage is a lot more melee-focused now.

This may sound a little confusing. This is because this rework is a clusterfuck and needs to be scrapped until they can do it better. Mordekaiser Mordekaiser Mordekaiser

Morde has ad ratios O.o!?!?

toonpang1 votes

Currently Morde has a 100%/165% bonus AD ratio on his Q [Mace of Spades].

In the PBE rework he gets an AD ratio on his ranged E [Siphon of Destruction] as well, but they lowered the base damage. So if you want to get as much E damage as you used to, then AP and AD are both necessary.

Sounds like item 3146 and maybe item 3124

Gunblade is more efficient now yeah.

Guinsoo's sounds good in theory, but in practice doesn't give him enough of any one stat. A combination of other items is more efficient. Riot keeps hybrid items weak intentionally so they don't buff the hybrid champs too much.

To really get the most out of Guinsoo's you need to utilise the passive which Morde can do, but he'd much rather be smashing things quickly with Q before they kite away from him because he has no self CC.

How is his solo lane better... if you solo now you are down an entire spell, W.

If you go AD, and get crit, AS, and MS items, you are sure to be able to do a lot and not need your kit for a while. I've seen that if you go AP, you rely more on your kit for damage and need to get to late to do so. It's like when I go and take Teemo as ADC bot, I don't get AD items rather I get tons of AS, MS, crit, and some AD in the mix. It's not perfect but its one way to get Teemo bot. Now, back to Morde, if I were to go AP in mid, I'd gain tons more power late though. The fact I can get a bonus 1.8% of my AP means that if I were to have 800 AP, I'd then gain 1440 bonus damage to the base damage of 180 to deal 1620 damage in one strike (of bonus damage) and with his AD scalings, he then deals beyond that as it takes 2.7% of my total AD, so if I just had 110 AD I'd gain 297 bonus so a total of 1917 damage in his last strike. But, again, its limit is up to three enemies. His E would be stronger than if with AD as with the rest of his kit but for some reason, I feel that he is much more efficient with AA...
