Why is the solo que system not a bell curve?

Im Silver 4, and the skill disparity of the least skilled to the most skilled in this elo is so absurdly wide, winning or losing feels mostly like a lottery. Some of the people are quite good and consistent, others are literally the most inept people I've ever met, unable to pay attention to the map, ping, or even cs at a poor rate.

Just today, the date being October 15, I had a blitzcrank who practically wet himself because when he was kalista ulted. He didn't know what it was. I have solo laners with 40 cs at 10 minutes. People getting the counterpick and then going 0/9 in lane.

The reason this game needs to be in a bell curve is to keep the skill level in each division actually reasonably close. What this does is actually allow me to learn what mechanics I need to work on to get better and to advance. Because right now I have no idea what that is, or how I can even improve my game because the skill disparity is so massive Im never exposed to what I need to do to improve.

"I have solo laners with 40 cs at 10 minutes"

Then explain to me why its ok for you to get 67 in a 21 minute game.

You also blew past 10+ other games to find one that you could use

and?

He had a bad game. Every time he sees a person with 40 cs at 10 minutes... That is THEIR BAD GAME.

Our teemo had a plat border. Someone ebayed his account cause he was like 3-17 his last 20 and was qued with us. Dude was talking about committing suicide in lobby. It was a disaster from minute 1. Our top laner was tilted hard too. That's the only game I can remember where I legitimately gave up.

That was one of those games where no matter I did, it was a loss. Some games are just like that.

I think a division between Bronze and Silver would solve most of the problems. I do get the impression that as the game grows and the ranked population increases, the current number of divisions becomes less and less capable of handling them well. Because such a small percentage of the game's players make it beyond Gold, the upper divisions are largely immune to this problem, but I feel like within a couple of years even Gold will suffer from current Bronze/Silver levels of bloating. Expansion is needed now, and then probably again in a couple of years.

Heh... new system features Brass Division between Silver and Bronze and a Copper Division below Bronze...

The problem isn't the ranks, it's how your graded for advancement. Dan Marino was considered an elite Quarterback in Football but was often on poor talent teams. Does this make him less talented? no! The grading system should be based off your individual performance not the outcome of the team as a whole. It's just not a fair system. When I ask the question of"how to I climb" the most often answer I get is use "x" champ they are freelo. This should not be the answer. using the lasted OP champ isn't a measure of skill it's a measure of being in before everyone else figures out that champ is OP and bans them.

also another thing... The only way to know what you need to work on is by playing good people like diamonds and plats.

When you do something stoopid you will get punished. And they aren't going to mix people that know what they are doing with people that don't just because the ones that don't want to improve. You have to learn yourself just like anyone gold4+ did.

(I say g4 plus cuz gold 5 is usually just lucky silvers and also because they start to understand the game more.)

It's absurd to say the only way to improve is by playing people better than you, but then defend why you should never be placed with people like that. That's not even my point. And I'm not sure why you even went through my match history to pick out one disaster of a game where my cs was bad. This was not a 'wha im good but i cant carry these noobs' kind of post.

I'm asking why the population is stuffed into bronze / silver rather than be placed in a bell curve. I want to know why i see people who keep 8-9 cs per minute one game, and a person who just cycles autos and doesn't even time their last hits the next. Why do I get a Caitlyn who just facetanks bruisers one game, and then one who can kite an udyr to Egypt and back the next. It doesn't make sense and ultimately makes every division pre-Gold arbitrary.

what happened to in your post: "not being able to learn from these people because they are so bad" That literally proves my point. They don't always have to be diamond but they have to be smarter than you.

Well around 50% of all servers are Silver, so such a huge disparity should be expected. Is it ok that riot leaves it as is? Probably not, but that's a different discussion entirely
