Pattern of overpowered champions: Itemless

PiVoRx··2 votes·532 views

Some examples:

Darius Elise Fiora Gragas Leblanc LeeSin Nautilus Nidalee Pantheon Poppy Zed Renekton TahmKench

Im getting really tierd of them being item wise ahead since lvl1 when they have no items at all and early game is just survival. Insane kill potential allows for easy snowball and very difficult recover.

Zed can start one shooting since lvl 6 Nidalee 1 spear in early game and you are done Elise one shots at lvl 3 Leblanc one shots when 2x cs and items behind Poppy Gragas Nautilus LeeSin Builds full tank and still pumps insane damage

How this game is supposted to be balanced when some champions are ahead of everyone else with raw stats? They deny core game mechanic that items are, and need to be dealt with.

Champions spend about half of the average game fighting primarily off the back of their base stats. This is why mid lane is the high damage lane - mages and assassins get maximum experience so that they can level up their abilities quicker as levels in their abilities are very impactful and don't get outscaled by items for a long time. It's not strange for champions to be strong when they don't have any items because a) if two champions without items fight, someone has to win and b) the difference between champions item-wise at 3 minutes and 10 minutes is pretty marginal. If you want champions to be able to fight at 10 minutes then they're gonna be fighting at 3.

As regards explanations for a lot of the list:

  • A lot of the champions you listed are junglers. Junglers have high base values and stats early so that they can clear the jungle.
  • Some of the champions you listed are transform champions or otherwise champions with most of their fighting tied to basic abilities. If Elise couldn't assassinate people at level 3 then she'd be worthless compared to a regular assassin because she'd have no advantage pre-6 over a champion who post-6 has a significant advantage over her. Same for Nidalee. If a champion doesn't have an ultimate they're gonna have a very strong level 3.
  • Some of the champions you listed are tanks, who are expected to have most of their damage in bases because they can't buy damage items. This can obviously go over the top sometimes though.
  • Almost every champion you listed falls off late. What's the point in Darius if his laning phase isn't insane considering how meh his team fight is? Same for any of the early game junglers. They need to be strong at some point. Yes it's easy to snowball with champions like these but that's their entire point. You might as well complain about Vayne scaling too well with items because "it's so easy to carry late game with her". Yes that's what hypercarries are supposed to be like.

"Falls of late", its not a valid argument anymore since most of the games doesent last so long.

Yes it is. Just because the current meta doesn't favor late-game champions as much as early-game does not make the argument of falling off invalid. What, would you prefer Renekton was ass in the early game, too? His outright job, as mentioned even by Riot, is to be an absolute beast in the early game and the laning phase and then fall off later on in the game, but try to end to the game or help snowball the rest of his team before that can happen.

However, using what you're saying, I can justifiably ask for Vayne buffs because the early-game meta doesn't favor her. Do you really want that?

Vayne early game ends when she gets bork. But renekton falls off around 25+ min mark, assuming he didnt killed top laner 5 times already.

The game isn't supposed to be balanced. LOTS of good games are coming out. I suggest using your money there. I haven't bought RP since the Fiora rework and wont until something is done. Vote with your wallet.
