How is this an A?

0/2/30 as Janna. Healed for 18k hp. 37 wards placed. Did not steal a single kill from a teammate. Only died twice. Yes, I got 6 CS. 83% kill participation (30/36). But how exactly is this an A?

Under the grade system as I understand it, CS plays a part. A large enough part that anyone who plays Support is basically hamstrung by it.

Doesn't help it's compared to the playerbase of the champion. Meta champs are harder to get an S and Janna is just that.

I agree how was that a A when clearly those are stats of a B score game

You're compared to all other support Jannas, and Janna is an extremely popular support pick at high elo (and a relatively unpopular pick at low elo since she's 'boring' and doesn't do much damage), and so standards are extremely high as a result.

KP% is an important thing, and all those stats you provided don't necessarily imply much in the absence of a game time. Objective participation also matters. Wouldn't worry much about the cs part, since essentially all support jannas are going to have low cs.

Heres an example of an S+ Janna game I had just to give some sense of what Jannas can accomplish in the right hands, and I'm not even diamond (albeit close). Note the match time there and the overall kill participation percentage.

But I'm bronze 2.

Indeed, but the grading system doesn't look at your elo, only your performance compared to all other performances, from unranked to challenger.

For many champions, their play rate is probably similar throughout elos, and since the majority of players are bronze/silver, standards are relatively low (and hence not unreasonable to achieve at lower elos). For some champs like Janna though, theres probably (I haven't looked up the numbers) more performances at high elos than low ones, and so she is probably one of the hardest champs to get an S rank on in terms of absolute requirements.

frankly imo janna is one of those champs whose performances per elo don't matter that much for your grade

i mean the biggest hurdle which the high elo adds it's cs/min, the low elo can get an amazing kda just like the high elo (if not easier), but a high cs/min is harder to achieve

cs matters for supports but not that much... get zzrot on janna the next time :3

Sure cs matters, but it's only relative to other janna supports. I had 15 in 32 minutes on my linked janna S+ game, so it's not like you need much. Since it's percentile based, getting 100 cs on janna support is probably going to be just as good as getting 300 cs in the same time, simply because essentially no one is getting much cs on janna support.

Janna has low base hp, so zzrot is generally something I'd only really recommend if things are going poorly and you need to stall out the game, and if things are going poorly you're probably not in a good position to be S hunting.

Looking into the particular match a little more, they actually did pretty well from most metrics I can see, although I have no idea what their objective participation was. Dieing twice is sortof a big deal since janna's whole kit works to keep her alive (and so dieing at all can be pretty rare on the best jannas). Potentially clearing more wards would be useful as well.

2 deaths as janna, just 15 kda, low cs

janna is a very popular support who is very safe (i.e. easy to avoid being killed) and very easy to get assists

therefore you should have an exceptional kda with her to get s, like i think i got s- with 33 kda or so (1/1/32 iirc)

play her top or something for an easier s :3 if you can manage to get a good cs and kda as a top janna (who cares if you win, it's playing for a grade)

Ignore the trolls. 15/1 KDA with 83% kill participation is amazing. The system is clearly fucked.

how are we trolls? you can think w/e you want about the system but it is how it works

janna is easy to get assists and to stay alive so you need a better numbers than these to get s

also objectives matter, i recently got s+ for ahri for a rather not that stellar game with ~125 cs at 20 and 7/0/4 or 7/0/3 or something because i killed a few towers i think

not enough CS

Not enough kills

Too meany deaths

Yes non support stats do effect rankings on supports.

Kills and assists are weighed equally for supports. 2 deaths isn't too many for an S. CS is the only one that sort of matters, and is probably what got him.

The grading system takes in Creep Score, Kills, Assists, and Deaths. Like previously stated by someone, if other Jannas are not dying at all, they make it harder for you to get an S. S+ is nearly impossible on Janna anymore because it requires perfect games with over 35 assists.

When you role support or are autofilled it notices that you won't have a high cs. This creates balance in the roles. (Sorta like jungle is not expected to have 200 CS but midlane and bottom lane are expected 230 for an S+)

37 wards placed. how many destroyed?

Need alot more cs, yes you probably gave most of it to your teamates, but you are still required to clear minions as a player. farm jungle or clear minion waves.

probably less deaths just to be "clean"

can't give you an detailed answer cause can't find your details on op.gg
