Holy Mother of Pearl, this alt account grind is brutal

RookPusher··28 votes·2,071 views

I don't say this very often, but I think WoW got it right. Cut out the leveling.

To be clear, that's a stupid idea for WoW, but we sort of need it here in League. The grind is truely a grind; so bad that I've started understanding those ARAM bots. Can we link accounts (at the risk of getting totally banned if one account gets banned) so we can use runes, skins, and champs?

Fine to scale up masteries as we currently do, but good lord is this grind brutal.

And the only reason I'm doing it in the first place is because sometimes I need a break from friends who get pretty salty when you're like "sorry, only one game tonight." RIOT! HOW COME YOU NO INVIS MODE?!?!

Why get another account then? If you're going to share champions, runes, masteries... why stop there? Share mmr ratings and rank as well.

Why not just allow 5 names to log into one account? Just switch it when you're logged in in the settings or something. Or allow you to go invisible (like Steam.)

Honestly, invisible mode is whats needed to solve this

I don't even wanna smurf!

If you just want invisible mode, just ask for that. Cause he's kinda right; smurfing is bad for new players and for matchmaking in general. Making it easier to smurf is a bad idea.

What new players?

There are realistically not many "new players" anymore to this game.

It is 2017, and most people that wanted to play this most likely have already, and most people that had friends they wanted to talk into playing, again, have already. For each new account that starts at level one, I can guarantee you at most, 1 out of 10 players in a game (assuming you could pvp at level 1, which you can't, but for arguments sake) are new...ish. Honestly I wouldn't even go that far. I would bet that out of 10 GAMES, there is 1 person that is new....and again, I'm not sure I would even feel comfortable saying as a fact that 1 person out of 100 games at level 1 was a brand new player.

That we have no new players is an opinion. We do have new players, just not that many.

What the leveling is there for is to stop people from making a new account every other day and going to terrorize the bronze players like that big kid that got held back a grade and wont let the other kids on the tire swing at recess.

They actually have enough of that as it is, we dont need it to be faster for the people that want to pick on others.

I know some people want to learn new champs and roles and test them in a ranked environment, but not at their main role focused account MMR level. Still, you have to take the bad with the good, and the good on the grind for levels and champs is its the only decent deterent we have to keep higher than bronze skill level smurfs out of bronze messing up the MMR and being assclowns.

^ probably one of those types.

Honestly don't know why riot doesn't just sell level 30 accounts. They'd make so much money.

Lux Is Mai Waifu5 votes

Bots can be counted as new players, so they can pretend more new players are joining, more games are being played, and the game isn't flat lining/dying.

cuddlykitten45 votes

Then new players get a level 30 account cause they can just buy, go straight into ranked, then you'll be missing the days when it was just intentional trolls as you'd still have those trolls plus the new players who have no clue what's happening and just wanted to jump straight in. It's the same reason you shouldn't power level in an RPG. It's like if someone handed you a rocket launcher. Yea, that's cool and all and I bet you'd feel like a badass.....until the fact taht you have no prior training cause you dind't take the time to learn your weapon well enough comes into play and you blow yourself up or get blown up by the guys who know how their rocket launchers work.

So make it like WOW where you can only play on one of your accounts at a time, and it needs to be linked to a current profile. Problem solved.

JuhnChan2 votes

I'd imagine they'd make it so you'd still have to grind IP for 16 champions/runes, which is the current system's bottleneck already.

cuddlykitten41 votes

The suggestion was to not only automatically put it at level 30, but also to share champs, runes, and masteries between both accounts.

JuhnChan1 votes

Then I don't get it. There's literally no reason to have a separate identical account other than to smurf.

Xonra1 votes

Sell them with some sort of "new account token" with IP

Problem solved.

I mean, I'm not doing anything else with this stupid 45k IP.

cuddlykitten42 votes

You can also choose to just not respond to them at all, and be like "yea, my bad. You bitch every time I tell you I'm not playing as long as you so to save myself from that I just didn't respond. Be less of a bitch and I'll talk to you more." Nothing like a dose of truth to set people straight.

Here's what Riot should do. Axe Runes, make Masteries great again, remove level gating, PROFIT!

Also, I don't want to hear the whole "it keeps smurfs away" argument because it doesn't. In fact, a system that "rewards" you for levelling up encourages you in reality to smurf.

P0IS0N IVY2 votes

I'd be cool if we could link our main accounts and get like x3 exp or something.

Hyperiön1 votes

I figured as the game grew, this process would become terrible. So when I first started, I made 2 accounts and leveled them up together

Now I have a backup account if something ever happens to this one.

Xonra1 votes

Been saying it for years and years and...years, but I don't know why you can't just have a "Second account" and attach it to your main account in a sense, so it starts at 30. If you want to grind from nothing, then don't do it, but allow people to attach their smurf if they don't want to bother with the grind, but are wanting to smurf for...whatever reason really.

I have nothing against smurfing personally, but I don't see why it has to be such an ass pain when you already have a main account. You aren't likely to buy skins and champs and all that with rp for a smurf, so the excuse for the grind isn't there. Don't see why you can't just choose to start at 30, or even have some, for IP "second account token" or something, to skip the grind.

Tangy Citrus1 votes

the grind is there so brand new players arent able to go straight to rnaked and fuck up silver/bronze even more. THough, theres a reason its called elo hell and its mainly because that happens anyways.

ItsOrval1 votes

Dont buy botted account. I bought one for $30 online, it had a 30 day warranty, 2 months later it got perma banned for botting. Like wtf. Why does it take that long to ban the account? In other words, lost $30 for nothing.

Riot is aware of these sites and probably plans accordingly. It's why they have an waves instead of just targeting people individually. I'm sure they know what sites sell accounts.

Well, here's the problem: Even if there was an invis mode, people could still tell you're playing if they go to op.gg. Even on lolking, and you have a match history too.

Also, I don't think it's bad to require the leveling. Otherwise you'll have a swarm of newcomers, who build Hurricane on Xin Zhao or rush Rabbadon on Tryndamere in ranked. That would be even worse.

58697132DEL11 votes

The grind as well as the fact you can't "play" this game for free until you've been playing for at least a year is pretty much why i can't get anyone new to play. they see the game and find it intimidating and telling them "yeah and when you start out you're weak as fuck and need to level up to 30 to unlock everything you NEED to play" they just go "lol why?" and play an ACTUAL F2P game.

Mizuki Zahra

exactly like my duo and I have this problem as well we have a mutual ass hat that gets banned on like 4 main accounts cause hes toxic and he wants to play with us, this kid owns 50 plus skins on 6ish accounts and hes soo mean I mean come on he raged at his adc cause adc missed 1 cs so he TahmKench ate him ran him into enemy tower and got them both killed then blamed the adc for it

RookPusher3 votes

Don't you sometimes look at those people and just think "When does it click in that something isn't working? Between the low funds and the 6th bans...can't you say to yourself 'something has to give'?"

cuddlykitten43 votes

You also could choose to stop playing with that guy. Sounds like he just drags you down and wastes your time. Tell him why though if you do. It's unfair to just leave him hanging without the explanation. From there he'll either improve or he's on his own. If he likes playing with you it's a wake up call, if he's selfish he'll keep doing the same as always, but it won't matter as you've washed your hands of it.
