Riot is continuing their disturbing trend of entirely ignoring the opinions of their community
Remember that whole thing Riot did in season 6 where they thought it would be really cool if they let 3, 4, and 5 man premades queue up against teams of 5 solo players for ranked (aka Dynamic Queue)? Remember how vocally we opposed it? These boards became the epitome of internet vitriol for the better part of a year due to Riot's little "experiment". After that colossal failure, it seemed like they were finally caving to community opinions as they started promising things like a new client, replay editor, sandbox mode, and finally, the end of DQ (only one of which has actually been delivered to date, btw). It seemed like Riot was finally starting to cater to the opinions of their players.
But then came autofill. Now, I will be the first to admit, I didn't really think autofill was that bad, and honestly I still don't. To date, I've been autofilled only a couple times (granted I have been playing mostly normals lately) and I legitimately don't mind playing support. In fact, I would regularly queue jungle/support if that didn't guarantee that I'd almost never get my main role. However, regardless of my own personal opinion, it is clear that the community is in overwhelming opposition to autofill, at least at the lower ranks. And yet, after well over a month, no word from Riot on this matter. Have they forgotten how bad shit got last season already? People legitimately left the game because of how terrible the ranked community got. Now, granted, pro players will have no comment on this change, as they are entirely unaffected, but if that is the only reason Riot won't listen then I find it all the more disturbing.
