No she wouldn't. Mana would be a band-aid at the absolute best and a balance crutch at worst. Her kit is perfectly balanceable if animation cancelling was to be removed. That's all she needs - then her damage can be properly tuned, if it even needs tuning, to make sure it's still effective when drawn out like it was meant to be.

Nah. As bad as having a bug as a main feature for a champion to be playable in high elo is. It would only serve to nerf riven in high elo and leave her win rate in low MMR essentially untouched. You don't need animation cancelling to crap on Silver elo and below, she's strong enough that she doesn't need animation cancelling to kill newbies. So taking away her animation cancelling would probably just lower her skill cap.

It would be better if she got mana so she has a weakness in lane phase. At least Rengar has his Ferocity which is actually a big part of his damage and general playability. Riven has absolutely nothing. You can't even use mana wasting tactics on her because everything she does is free.

Pretty much. Every time I lane against a Riven, the thought that crosses my mind isn't "Man, that kit is OP", it's "Man, she can just keep doing it over and over and over again". Even Darius, as broken as some might think he is, at least has to care about mana to a certain degree.

My primary thought is always, "Champions with low CD are generally balanced by Mana costs preventing them from spamming endlessly.", and then grumbling jealousy of Rivens whose only stat to manage is HP. Add in enough lifesteal and the only reason for Riven to back is to buy.

I don't think Riven is OP, but I do think it's a silly kit with what how much mobility is packed into a kit with low CDs and no resource management at all.

We dont agree on much, but this time you are completly right. They could just make it work the other way around, and make Riven animation cancel automatically, which would actually be a better solution in my opinion, considering Riot balances around it. The whole animation cancelling bug doesn't add any interesting gameplay. Just creates an unnecessary mechanic for the player to have to master that doesn't add any gameplay at all, like making Karthus type "QWAPIPOLIOXZIGGY" during the channel to make his ult do double damage.

But either way, champions shouldn't be strong just because they're difficult to play. Just look at Melee (foxonlynoitemsfinaldestination) They should be powerful regardless. The things Riven players should be focusing on aren't just their mechanics (there are enough mechanics to master as it is), it should be how they direct their abilities, when and where. Not how. The champion already knows how to use their ability.

And yet some how, I feel that if someone who was Gold 5 contradicted you, someone who was one tier away, you'd still take a screenshot of their rank and paste it here and claim that means you're right and they're wrong.

But whatever, I'll play to your backwards logic if that's really your game; take it from a D5 player (minimal difference is still a difference, and by your own logic, that still means my opinion is SLIGHTLY more valid than yours), Riven and Fizz don't take a lot of skill at all. They're braindead champions that tend to be high reward low skill. Yea, you can achieve a very high level of play with them, as you can with practically any champion, but they still highly reward relatively little skill because their abilities are very forgiving when you fail, but extremely rewarding when you succeed.

This is the consensus of many of my friends as well, some of whom are higher diamond than myself.

Sorry to burst your bubble, kiddo. But the bronze and silvers you're mocking are actually more knowledgeable in this matter than you are :(

In my time on the internet, I've come to a conclusion: no one on the internet will learn anything from someone on the internet that is on a forum. It's theoretically conducive to discussion, but that doesn't mean the discussion will be anything that anyone will learn from - especially when ratings like these are involved.

Beyond that you have people like SteelStallion here egging on a person known for doing stupid shit, and that helps literally nobody and accomplishes pretty much nothing. I don't even get a slight chuckle or smile simply because it's completely cringe-worthy on both sides. Sorta like when Pendragon brought down the hammer on some people on the forums before the boards - it looked cringe-worthy.

If they are so OP you can get freelo then every LCS/LCK/etc game would have that champ would it not???? Eh since when is zed, fizz and riven not played in pros? They are literally a staple of the pro scene at some point every season. They are played in pro scene just for that exact reason, but keep in mind the pro team play is very different from solo Q so some faceroll champs might not fit pro team play that well.

When khazix was faceroll cheese......pick ban in pro.....when riven was, pick ban in pros, fizz still manages to be a great pick in pros, zed same shit, renger? yup, lee sin? yup.

What you never see is say warwick in the pros, why? because he is unforgiving as fuck, and hard as fuck to play because his kit is very limited, no cheesy get aways, only gap closer is easily countered ult, extremely hard to Cs with no cheesey wave clear.

What you dont see is MF in pros, why? No cheesey dash easy mode get away, no cheesy wave clear, extrmely immobile champ making her extrmely hard to play you have to have the most insane positioning and decision making, what you do see? tonnes of corki free flash every 15 seconds, tristana, free flash(rocket jump) and a knock back if you still postion that poorly, EZ, well and sivir because she can just press R and not really have to do anything else and she has cheesey easy wave clear...

Riven has never been pick or ban in professional play. The most play she's seen so far has been in S5 with 26 total picks and 19 bans, across all tournaments. That accounts for only 2.7% of all picks/bans so far in this year's pro play. In Season 4, she was picked once, never banned. In Season 3, she was banned twice and picked three times.

Comparing fizz to Riven disgusts me. Fizz is on the difficulty level of fucking Annie except for his ult, while Riven actually has to know how to combo her spells to cancel animation and have decent reflex to block/dodge things....Pls, these two have nothing in comparison, and Fizz is not worthy of being compared to Riven.

I do not nearly care enough to do such a thing to prove a random point on the forums. I don't really play Riven at any rate, but I'm pretty sure it's the same idea as cancelling any attack animation like you do on ranged champions if you are chasing someone.

Let me guess, you cancel the Q animations by right clicking away, then right clicking the target again? I will admit there may be more nuances to it than I know, but the same can be said about any champion. This isn't the reason Riven is an easy champion. You can just spam Q auto attack and use her abilities in normal succession and still do fairly well.

As I mentioned before; Riven, like ANY other champion, can be played at a higher level, but that doesn't mean she doesn't HEAVILY reward people who DON'T play her at a higher level.

i am on your side 100 percent, and just to add to that, the first time i played riven, i went about 22-2-10, on my first try in team bulder, no idea how to build or play her. i hate the other champs you mention, but i have respect for fizz and zed. i wreck riven all the time with a tanky fighter, but i still wont deny the fact that she has no limit, i do agree that mana would put a bandage on things, and maybe even lower the hate a little. but to play riven you don't need a brain, just a small knowledge and your good to go, to at least play & and dominate. im sure they are mechanics that separate a great riven to good riven but overall shes easy to play.

Actually I have to agree with Lajneen, idk what you are smoking but Fizz isn't freelo. I lost count of how many times I would see Fizz be retarded and just get torn apart. You basically miss the ult and he can't do shit other than poke and trollpole away. Bait his trollpole then jump on him and watch how he vanishes as fast as an adc.
