WHO FED X???? SHUT UP!

Zombiephil··112 votes·5,680 views

Please stop asking, "WHO FED X?" in the middle of a game. He's fed, does it help your team to know who fed him? Does it make him not fed? Does it really matter who fed him? I mean he's fed. The worst part is people who ask it most of the time ask it when it is really obvious.

Example:

Shen Top 2-0-1 J4 JG 3-1-7 Katarina Mid 1-9-2 Morgana Supp 0-1-7 Jinx ADC 4-2-1

Enemy Zed 12-0-3

"WHO FED ZED?

Do you really have to ask? And what's even worse is that this question usually is a start to a blame game that pretty much screws up teamwork and costs your team the game. In this example, 85% of the time what follows that question is everyone answering, "Kat," and then Kat blaming other people and getting toxic and leading to an argument. If this is not a bannable offense, it better become one. This is basically the Blame Game. Again, if he's fed, how does it help knowing who did it?

They just say that because they're mad. Logic goes out the window when some people get mad. A lot of times people say things like this to try to get the offender (Kat in your example) to fess up and admit fault. It never ends well.

But honestly, the blame game isn't what's really costing you the game if Zed is 12-0-3 and kat is 1-9-2. Zed is rather difficult to play, and if he did that well he's probably a smurf.

Tulare4 votes

Leaving aside the "probably a smurf" argument, I'd say your right that logic goes out the window. Not only that but the same mindset that leads to this unconstructive venting of anger probably also leads to despair and giving up.

In many cases "Who fed Zed?" and "Zed is fed. gg" might as well be the same. It's basically somebody saying, "This game is over."

If they had constructive intent, there'd be acknowledgment and advice rather than blame. For example, maybe after Zed got his second or third kill, say something like, "Kat, just bunker down. Play safe and hold your turret even if you have to give up farm to do it. Let us know right away if he roams. We'll try to win or push the other lanes so we can get some help your way."

And then actually DO that. In the example given, if the rest of the team let Kat die nine times without offering constructive suggestions or trying to help her, it really was a team failure. Way too often, people have the attitude that if their teammates were doing their jobs, nobody would have to adapt their tactics to fix somebody else's mess. To that, I say "Tough. It's a tactical team game. Be flexible and work with what you have, or lose."

You hear people say things like "too heavy" or 'can't carry trash". What are they actually doing to carry, though? Usually it's just doubling down and playing harder at the same strategy that let the enemy team get an advantage in the first place. Knowing how to coach a weaker player through a tough lane is a lot easier, IMO, than trying to beat a fed opponent.

BluePolarizer1 votes

thats not true. Sometimes it truly feels like an uphill struggle when you get every lane fed, steal enemy jungle, secure objectives... and your team still loses the game because your carries love to solo.

Tulare2 votes

I don't disagree with you but that's a different scenario. We were talking about an enemy champ getting fed. In the scenario you described, it still wouldn't be effective to point fingers. If the carry going solo is causing the team to lose, coaching the wayward player is still the right choice. The carry player might choose not to listen to the coaching but getting that player onboard with the team's strategy is still the best way to win.

BluePolarizer1 votes

I try man, I try, but in this elo (plat) everyone thinks they're godlike challengers being held back by noob teams. Me? Teamplay? The fk is that?

kJs2 votes

Because to get out of Bronze, Silver and Gold you are forced to set the mindset that only you can win the match and that if you can't solo carry a game then you suck. There is literally no other way to get out of Gold and below other than play solo and be selfish. It's the ranking system's fault.

SorasMemories2 votes

Giving other people advice on how to play never works, in my experience, because, no matter how polite or logical you are, people just do what they want, anyway.

Ariel the Cruel2 votes

Shut up. I know what I'm doing, noob. I don;t need advice from some pleb!

Spreek2 votes

I think it can work sometimes, but it is rarely worth it. There are basically 3 scenarios when you give advice to someone doing badly:

A. Person refuses to accept that they did something wrong. This player is likely to argue with you and/or get mad at you if you try to give them advice. No advice is going to be helpful with a player like this and you are at best wasting your time.

B. Person knows what they did wrong (especially when said thing is extremely obvious). You see this all the time with "stop feeding," "dont get blitz hooked" and so on. At best this kind of advice is useless (because anyone who has played this game to any degree realizes those things are bad) and at worst it can sound very condescending and flamey and make someone tilt worse.

C. Person doesn't know what they did wrong and is willing to accept your advice. So obviously in this case, advice can potentially be helpful. But you have to know exactly what they did wrong (which you won't always, as you aren't watching everything they are doing -- and chances are you aren't actually that much better than the people you are matched with anyway), AND exactly how to teach them to improve (which is harder than it sounds because many mistakes in league are more of a collection of small mistakes than one big easy one to fix). And even if all this is true, the exact situation that you taught them to play better in the future has to arise again in the same game for you to get any real benefit from all this trouble.

I think a policy of encouraging the feeder to keep trying and not tilt is far better. Accept whatever excuses they give (you can also make excuses for them -- "yeah man i hate that matchup so much" or "idk why their jungler keeps camping you when we are winning bot so hard") and never pressure them to admit blame. Give them a reason to keep playing (X lane is winning, better late game, better team comp, enemy team can always throw, etc.).

Midder Scray3 votes

Exactly, I guarantee if someone on the team was 3-13-2 and they were still winning, nobody would say shit about it. But if they're losing, all eyes on that. People just like to draw negative attention to others so that they can feel like it wasn't their fault they were losing

Dedrius6 votes

I remember playing with Irelia Carries U on his smurf and he trashed his enemy laner and the enemy top's whole team was spamming "Report X, so bad, fed this irelia so hard" when obviously any plat V (think it was plat V elo at the time) would obviously lose to a challenger God tier irelia player.

People just want someone to blame when the game isn't going their way.

Partholonian2 votes

This seems to me like a great example of why smurfing should be a bannable offense. At least 5 people had their games ruined and turned toxic so the smurf could have an easy win.

Dedrius1 votes

Thats silly to say it should be bannable, you can learn a lot playing against players who are much more skilled than you and its not like most high elo smurfs want to be in Plat, they just are trying to get through it so they can get to the higher elos.

"Zed is rather difficult to play"

As much as I want to agree, I have never seen any challenge in his mechanics other than messing up when you warp to shadows. Everything is quite simple in my opinion.

Landing the Qs of both you and your shadow, landing both Ws, making sure you can autoattack after / before getting these spells off, dodging any CC once you teleport in, ensuring good shadow placement for escape / chasing.

I mean, it's not rocket science, but when you compare it to most champs (annie or kayle...) he's far more difficult to play than most.

D rok2 votes

To play him perfectly is a lot harder, mechanically, than some champs. But realistically, he has one of the easiest laning phases in the game. And one of the easiest kills at 6. I think that offsets the mechanical difficulty of his ideal combo. Pretty easy champ to do well with.

I agree with OP though. Attitude can be everything in soloQ.

ApplyForAGrant2 votes

Laning is only part of the game though. Zed's pretty hard to play beyond that. In late game fights you need to keep track of who has Zhonyas and QSS, how to still kill them if they have these items, who has CC that can kill you, when to jump in, can I get out alive and if not, would it be worth the trade? Splitpush is also difficult because you need good warding and game sense.

Lux is hard in laning phase with all her mana costs, but in teamfights? Its just throw your spells in the enemies general direction and watch them go boom.

you're wise. that sounds stupid to say seeing as what you described is such a simple concept (or should be, or is once you see it). Still, it seems plenty of people don't get it. I don't know if they're a majority or they're just the loudmouths which makes them seem more common.

anyway, i feel your frustration. some of the most satisfying wins I've had were when some lane on my team was like 1-9. But nobody bitched. We all pulled together and solely through teamwork we won. Seems like if someone feeds that hard, often they were countered or had an extremely difficult lane. But, that was lane...and then they offer some other strength once the team really groups.

the example off the top of my head was Ziggs vs Leblanc orZed , where the Ziggs got trashed in lane, but once we grouped and were able to protect him, his contribution to the team was way more than the lonely assassin's.

SSJTribe5 votes

Most of the time when I see that asked it's not cut and dry like the example you posted. I had a game the other day where I was playing Mid lane Lux and I was up 1-0-1 against my lane opponent Zed who was 0-2-0. I pinged mia, went back to buy and when I came back he had 3 kills. I honestly had no idea where he got those from. I didn't say anything, but I certainly thought it.

Think it all you want. What is cut and dry is that the person actually typing it into chat is someone that has no business paying a team game.

I agree so much.

Just a heads up to people who say this kind of thing thinking it makes them look less at fault for also contributing to the enemy kills, it doesn't. If you're just now starting to pay attention, then you're doing a pretty terrible job as well. Why would you go in and try to duel with someone who has more kills and gold than you? That's completely your fault if you do that and die or lose a significant chunk of your HP.

If they roam to your lane, and catch you while you're over extended with no vision, that's also your fault.

Part of being on a team is helping your teammates out. If a feast or famine champion like Yasuo has dug themselves a hole, telling them to "not feed" isn't constructive or helpful. Tell them that you are not neglecting their lane, and will be there to help them out once you're done with whatever you're doing. Let them know it's okay to lose a tower, or farm under the tower. Trying to shame someone is only going to make them lose all hope, and make it that much harder for them to make a comeback and be of help to you.

Exactly, you'd literally have to be Lee SIn to not know someone is getting fed and to avoid that person. When someone dies to "X" and then bitches "Omg hes so fed" or "omg who fed x" or something along those lines, they deserve the death. You also have to make an active effort to stop that person as a team. You're playing top? Tp or roam down. You're jg? Gank the lane, coordinate it with one more person if you have to. You're bot? Farm safe at your tower and send your support to go help.

You really want this to become a bannable offense? Geez people need to learn how to MUTE and stop trying to get everyone they dislike banned

I also hate when they say "Why would you feed X?" like first off half the fucking time its cause they picked up kills roaming and I ain't have shit to do with it, and all the fucking time, why would you imply that somebody did that on purpose. If they're trolling, you wouldn't ask this question, so why are you asking me.

pepper buddy4 votes

Ye i HATE people who say this. People know damn well who fed, and why. They had a shitty game. Thats it, the answer, the katarina is not trying to lose and most probably feels extremely ashamed of her performance.

Some games ago i went 0-5-7 as Nocturne. Being Jungler I felt awfull. We won the game but only because Viktor carried us. When the inevitable "what u doing noc?" came up I simply said. I fucked up. But that wasnt enough they continued harrasing me all game claiming I couldnt play. Like, I know I fucked up. I know I gave tons of gold and xp to the enemy team. To have people remind me of it every damn minute isnt going to make me want to play better.

In short league has a lot of negative, stubborn, crybabies. Sure for every crybaby there goes 5 polite players. The problem is that the crybabies are the ones that type and not the polite ones.

Also in regards to chat in a stressfull game, always be over teh top polite. I will assume everyone to either be snark or sarcastic, and i think most players will assume the same. So if the question "what u doing X" is legitimate, or any other question that could be interpreted as snark simply add something like. "No flame" or "its ok" It will actually encourage people and open them up for suggestions.

Amazing right? P.S this is not sarcasm.

Great point my man. I'd also like to call for people to refrain from saying "gg ez", judging other people "our Ashe is trash" (based on one game, EVERYONE has bad games sometimes), whining about KS, offering NO mature constructive feedback, and saying stuff like "oh they have a Sej, well gg guys".

I realize yall might say "This LoL, dont expect everyone to be mature lol", but how is the community supposed to grow and mature if nobody takes the time to uphold The Summoner's Code?

As if they got all the kills from ONE person. If they got all the kills from ONE person they probably wouldn't even be fed because the person feeding's gold count would be so low.

That's another thing people don't get. I see people who are 34-21-7 calling another person who is 1-12-15 a feeder. If someone has 34 kills, they were probably on a killing spree at some point, which means they were feeding even more gold. Where did people get the idea that feeding had anything to do with Kills minus deaths? I understood the term "feeding" in basically my first bot match. Yet I still see people in ranked who think it is kills minus deaths. The other day, I was playing Shen and I was 0-7-17 (Support), guess who called me a feeder? Oh yeah, the 19-13-7 Fiddlesticks. I told him he was dying more than I was. His explanation? I also have a lot more kills and kill participation. Really?

Because by feeding 9 kills before midgame, you screwed everyone else trying to win.

Losing lane is one thing, no one is going to blame you for that. Repeatedly trying to 1v1 dive your enemy after they have gotten 3 kills over you is feeding. And it ruins the game for everyone else on your team.

BluePolarizer4 votes

Here's the thing: sometimes its not possible to play safe other than by leaving lane. Leaving lane against Zed is dangerous since he's AD and builds attack speed, meaning he'll just keep taking turrets. If Kat gets behind even 0-2, she can't be in the same lane as Zed anymore.

Partholonian1 votes

Giving up your outer turret is a perfectly reasonable response to losing lane. Even Zed isn't safe trying to push your inner turret alone, that's way too far for him to get away if he gets collapsed on by your jungler and a roam from another lane.

Of course that lets him roam, so all your other lanes have to be careful, but if they actually ARE careful you can stop the bleeding. Or feeding, as the case may be.
