I think we lost a good opportunity.

The start of the season was a good opportunity to shape the placement of people in divisions based on a bell curve and not... whatever it is now. Being placed in B2 after 6-4 and playing with these guys (again) has me remembering that the skill disparity that exists in bronze and silver is absolutely vast. Putting 80% of your population in the lowest 2 divisions creates an environment that is just kind of extremely toxic. I can't imagine toxicity wouldn't go down if people who can maintain 7-8 cs a minute and have good mechanics are getting grouped up with their Riven who has 30 cs at 20 minutes and just yolo engages all day.

Bell curve Riot. Bell curve.

LaughingGun. I'm not trying to be rude, but that's not the point of my post at all.

you will climb out of bronze easily if you are not meant to be there, the season is almost a year long and you will be gaining 30+ lp's per win as your ELO will be higher than your division (or should be) if you was in a higher division previous.

I despise this argument. While true, it doesn't take away how annoying it is to deal with this crap.

I really don't understand why Riot doesn't do this. They could base it on basic mathematical data. Like, where you stand across the historical average players in a given role. I really, honestly, don't get it.

I've been asking for years about better statisticians creating a more intelligent mmr system than w/l. I think they've heard me, I've even sent some stats guys to apply their way. I think the wind is moving in the right direction. I also think that some of that was supposed to be rolled out in the background of the new dynamic queue, however, something went bust, and it's not working... silently... now. They've really messed up the opening act of this season. Very disappointing stuff.

Why would you base in on bell curve for god's sake? This is all natural that high leagues are less populous, look at soccer leagues or any popular sport, few teams are always in highest league and the most teams are in amateur leagues. This is because the higher you go skill difference becomes more relevant, MMR gaps between divisions in diamond are way bigger than in lower leagues despite how few player are diamond.

In fact, only reason why Brozne isn't bigger than silver is because people feel bad for being in bronze, nobody likes to be kept reminded "you are the worst".

Also underlying MMR system is based on ELO so it should be pretty much be bell curve, it is only boundaries between tiers that are not.

Do you know what a bell curve is? :P It wouldn't affect any of the issues you brought up.
