Is league actually dying *eternals*

I think "lmao this games dying anyway" is very silly in most cases.

But for real with the insane amount of things being added to the game they ask you to pay for in the last few seasons i have to believe league is legit dying.

-no more skins below 1350 (it looks like one hasnt been released since last blood moon) -hextech chests/gemstones -chromas -emotes -a mission pass for events every single month -prestige skins -scummy ways to buy little legends -almost 900rp for 3 achievements. -there certainly is more you can name, but id argue they might be more opinion than these (for instance how some bundles are grossly overpriced to try to get you to buy the exclusives in them)

Like its getting straight up ridiculous. Is revenue that bad? What is this new fighting game gonna look like? Is there going to be some sort of 2$ for each color change for a fighter?

WTH is going on riot?

Welcome to AAA gaming, I hope you enjoy your stay.

It's the land of the desperate, and full of 0 considerate.

It's the cash they'll grab, and next to nothing you've got.

Where the greed is good, and the lowest they'll stoop.

Triple AAAyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyye!

........

Nowadays I just enjoy my time in Hollow Knight, a very good indie game where all updates/expansions (which there have been like 4(?) expansions to the initial release) are completely and utterly free. The only extra charges besides the base game is if you want to buy the soundtrack. That's it.

I have some complaints with some of the bosses here and there and all that, but one thing I can say for absolute certain, that the game's pricing I can only say "hot damn!"

Riot Games has become a fucking joke...

It baffles me that league can be called a cash grab when you legit do not to spend a cent on the game. Sure, it is not CD project red but it's 10 times better than something like blizzard where you need to pay money to play the game and still have to buy in game items/skins.

I assume its just the standard issues when you answer to your investors rather then consumers.

I'd guess that Riots probably looking to bump their Sales to build up Financial capital for their next game. Showing higher numbers to secure investors. Showcasing to their shareholders that they have the ability to make a profit thus are worth a hefty investment into so they can secure finances for the new game.

Mind you, I am not an expert or even remotely well educated beyond a precursory understanding on the topic. I just know that Dividends tend to come from the consumer, which in my view makes them the product a company is selling to investors.

Eternals as a whole feels like a way to Cash in on OTPs. Seems like Riots "borrowing" the framework others have established for this.

Rather the game dying its likely more related to looking for additional streams of revenue and some financial department folks convinced the company heads this was a viable way to do it.

Despite the backlash my attitude on the Eternal topic is pretty clear cut. If its not done well then don't buy it. If its got enough value to justify it then go for it.

If its a flop. May I strongly recommend taking the $ you save and spending it on a Supergiant Games game? They are a company I think is worth every penny you send their way.

For me, Riot still makes the most enjoyable moba. I dabble in many as its a game style I enjoy. I doubt its going to die any time soon when its one of the best options available on the market.

Edit. What, Am I wrong?

Im guessing they are trying to recuperate lost income due to less players and less people buying skins but instead of trying to improve the game they are resorting to petty cash grabs.

Its a fucking joke

League is dying but not because cosmetics. A lot more issues are plaguing this game.

KnKitsune8/15/2019, 7:35:58 PM3 votes

Since 2017, Rito's revenue has dropped by $700 million from $2.1 billion.

Chances are what you listed aren't the prime factor, but most definitely a major one.

Warpes8/15/2019, 2:23:44 PM2 votes

League is not dying lmao, you sound like every other idiot with some doomsday paranoia in any game ever regardless of population.. just actually stop using the phrase "it's dying" already. Still one of if not the most popular game worldwide, and you're just embarrassing yourself.

Should it die tho? that's another story altogether.. riot sure as fuck doesn't deserve the kind of popularity they're getting, being a prime example of corporate greed taking over their actions and the content they put out.

SuchSwagSuchweed8/15/2019, 11:30:14 AM2 votes

I personally believe that Riot is just adding all these cash grab content is for the 1% or the rich people who buy stuff on league. Why put all the resources into, let's say, 5 750 rp or below skins when you know only a small amount of the player base will buy when you can make a 1350 skin on a popular champion that riot knows will sell for sure? They don't care anymore about quality, sure the shit they release are sometimes really nice, but in general they just pump out what's popular and whatever makes money the quickest way. It's pretty sad seeing Riot doing this shit since everyone knows that league is going to go down the drain soon if this keeps up and the players start getting fed up and leave before it's too late. Till then I honestly hope some new management or something happens and they start caring about their game.

This reminded me how some one from Riots skin team once said they will make low prices skins so every one can afford to buy them OmegaLUL

Dahaaka8/16/2019, 8:57:13 AM1 votes

Just out of curiosity i checked the store, and holy **** s***, last skin for 975 rp was blood moon eve in April 17 of 2018!!! So painful to watch a beloved game to die because of greed....

Game gets a new feature

#The game is dying and here's why

preternatural8/15/2019, 9:38:14 AM1 votes

the game can't be dying when tft averages urf numbers and there's spillover into people playing league itself.

rito add monetisation because they can, and people buy dumb things anyway.

Sukishoo8/15/2019, 11:32:11 AM1 votes

If it's dying, then why are you still here? That in fact cancels it out because it's not dying.

Meritas8/15/2019, 1:30:24 PM1 votes

I really don't think that we can reasonably expect chromas to be free if the fighting game is F2P.

Linna Excel8/15/2019, 3:25:49 PM1 votes

League lost money last year but that doesn't mean it is dying. I think that they weren't expecting or were ready for something like fortnite to pop up because they were resting on their laurels for too long. I'm of the opinion that a higher up at riot or tencent probably made a decision to add more monetization to the game to make up for lost revenue as a result of that dip.

ModCaptainMårvelous8/15/2019, 3:57:41 PM1 votes

Most of the stuff is a shift to more money-making, yeah. However:

-no more skins below 1350 (it looks like one hasnt been released since last blood moon)

This is apparently because nobody bought those 975/750/520 skins when Riot made a few new ones. They're apparently some of the worst selling content Besides Eternals that Riot has done iirc.

-chromas -emotes

At this point with the BE shop and emotes being handed out like candy, I don't really see these are rushing for cash. Like I have a god damn library of Emotes and I have never bought a single one of them. The one thing would be buying the chroma bundle but for the life of me I don't know anyone who does so really, this is mostly f2p BE content to me.

Ahri Baka8/15/2019, 5:04:57 PM1 votes

Do people like you really view everything as "dying" ? it became so stupid ever since the whole fortnite thing

When people waiting their champion to get a skin They of course want that skin to be 1350 RP , why would an Udyr main want his skin to be 750 RP or 975 RP after waiting 3 years? Eternals on the other hand are just something new to show off , it doesn't reflect that the game is dying by any means , not even an inch , being greedy for a company is nothing new

Hordes668/15/2019, 11:27:44 PM1 votes

This is strictly pandering to their asian player base who value 'status' above everything else.

Teriyaki Bukkake8/16/2019, 1:18:34 AM1 votes

Game has been dying since after 2017, and their profits/revenue confirms it aswell
