ARURF and regular urf would be a LOT more fun if riot curated the problem champions out. As the fat mexican pointed out in his video.

Geauxx1 votes

Get rid of the current problem champions and new problem champions will spawn.

Like it or not, that's what happens.

Serophous3 votes

Yeah no

Riot has done it in one for all, where teemo and karthas are locked out.

I even think ryze was locked out of another one, but can't remember which.

So Riot HAS done it before. Why not now makes no sense

LAKIGR1 votes

Don't forget that in urf both teemo and shaco can only play a set about of boxes and shrooms other wise people just fill up the entire jg with them

Geauxx1 votes

And those are easily disable by a sweeper than has basically 0 cooldown that last for a long time that disables boxes/shrooms.

Teemo and shaco aren't even a problem.

You're better off saying someone like evelynn.

Arsenic Sulfur1 votes

Sweeper no longer disables traps. This was implemented just this patch IIRC specifically because it fucked over Teemo.

Geauxx1 votes

Then riot fk'd me over, enemy morgana used sweeper and destroyed all my shrooms basically rendering them useless.

The difference between a flora/galio and riven/syndra in terms of S+ tier is colossal. The latter means you're in for a rough time. The former means you literally might as well afk.

I prefered old urf, but then again i didnt complain about the same champs every game. I just banned out the ones i hated like Maokai Shaco Zed Evelynn Hecarim and itd be fine.

I really liked picking what i wanted to play, because me and my friends (As magikarp said in his video) used it to just do dumb shit. Not caring who we needed to play to win. Because it was just damn fun to dick around in.

And since its been so long since last regular URF and Jhin wasnt out then, i could live my dream of racecar Jhin EVERY GAME.

The problem is, the ratio of people doing URF to dick around was far outweighed by the people doing URF to roflstomp as Riven, Evelynn, Master Yi, etc. Those people ruined the mode because the people who wanted to just have fun couldn't due to getting their teeth kicked in with any champ that was utterly busted and untouchable in URF.

Faceroll Tactics3 votes

Are you mad because you're losing to a champion in a game mode that isn't trying to be balanced?

Lauchmelder11 votes

He's actually bored because the people that just went full on tryhard (even more so than in ranked) was extreme.

Faceroll Tactics2 votes

Well you can't stop people from being try hard elo warriors, I can't see why it bothers you that other people are playing a certain way, the mute button exists and if you don't like people wanting to win than maybe this game isn't for you

Lauchmelder12 votes

That's bullshit and you know it. URF was made as a fun gamemode, if you wanna win then go normals or ranked.

The RGMQ is a fun mode, tryhards should just stick to the normal game.

M Dragon142 votes

Riven/yi wasn't even good.

e q is on 2 seconds and all attack speed items have doubled effects, if you dont time cc right he is unhitable, and riven is perma flip and cant be hit

10 champ ban system easy fix. i mean if all u ever pick is literally weak unbalanced champions just because you want to try something new, wether its urf or rift, your most likely gonna get stomped on if your oponent didnt had the same mentality as you. even in rift ppl always pick the op meta champs and alot of champions really sit in the dust without getting played, so that reasoning doesnt really matter because this game will NEVER be balanced, just because its AR urf now doesnt mean OP meta champs wont have the advantage. Actually now that its random the team with the better luck on the rolls will most likely win by default, since u got the weak champs and they had the luck to get the op meta ones. at least in urf you could counter them with whoever you wanted to play, now its a gamble, a game of luck.

The last time we saw URF was 5-20-16. And I would like to say, why not apease most people and give them ~30 second queue times by adding the option of ARURF and URF at the same time?

AgeOfTheMage3 votes

diversity? you must be funny, i saw an irelia almost every game, it seemed like more champs had a higher chance of being picked than others.

CookyPrince4 votes

irelia was free that week hun, everyone had her

RavenMagus6 votes

Another reason why random select game modes (like ARAM) should just use a fully unlocked champion pool.

Fondling Gems1 votes

Maybe because the issue with old URF is that 90% of the good champions were champions who didn't use CDR/MANA items since those items still have the same stats, cost the same amount of gold, but the items are terrible in URF just due to the stats on them.

It sucks because I look at Taric and know that I all but require an IBG to function. Then I look at the item and read "65 armour, 2700 gold."

People complain about the stale meta but the meta is just CD dependent champions that use items that weren't nerfed because they are mostly mana/CDR. If that actually got changed URF might not be the exact same team every game.

The only items with mana that are actually still good pick ups are ROA and Seraphs Embrace because the stats on them + Seraphs active overshadow the uselessness of mana on the items. Heck just leave those two items as they are and change all the other mana/cdr/mana regen items and there will still be options for Ryze and Kassadin.

RavenMagus3 votes

It's not just that. There are champions that are a complete terror to fight.

Like Wukong, for example. He's not ridiculous in URF because his mana management issues are gone. He's ridiculous because he's in basically permanent stealth while leaving clones everywhere and a lot of champs can't even target him with their abilities while he kills them.

Fondling Gems3 votes

Read again, it isn't about mana management, it is about champions that synergize with items like IBG that do poorly because no matter what they buy they are getting shafted.

General states definitely have an impact too, but look at Taric. He has all the tools to do amazingly in URF. Despite that he is meh because he either has to build items he dislikes or build items that are horrendously inefficient because they are mostly mana/CDR. You basically can't buy IBG for the passive in URF without getting screwed over one way or another.

Pretending that items have no impact is just silly. Look at lethality right after the buff. Despite crit not having been hit at all crit ADC's all but vanished off the face of the earth for a patch. Is it really so surprising that URF has a stale meta when half the items that half the champion pool uses are only half as useful as normal?

Take a look at defensive items: item 3001 item 3102 item 3060 item 3174 item 3742 item 3814 item 1401 item 3401 item 2303item 3110 item 2302 item 3022 item 3026 item 3030 item 3152 item 3025 item 3109 item 3151 item 3190 item 3156 item 3139 item 3111 item 3222 item 3047 item 3056 item 3143 item 3107 item 3800 item 3027 item 2045 item 3116 item 3040 item 3065 item 3068 item 3053 item 3069 item 3071 item 3075 item 3748 item 3078 item 3083 item 3091 item 3050 item 3157 item 3512

These are every completed item that provide defensive stats (Not passives, hence why Last whisper and the like aren't included.)

Now lets look at how many of these don't lose the stats they are balanced around and priced for in URF: item 3102 item 3742 item 3814 item 1401 item 3022 item 3026 item 3109 item 3151 item 3190 item 3139 item 3111 item 3047 item 3143 item 3116 item 3053 item 3068 item 3075 item 3748 item 3083 {{item:3091 item 3512 item 3091

Less than half as many items, and how many of those are true defensive options for tanks? I know Taric isn't interested in half of those items. He isn't going to be buying and edge of night or a QSS. Rylais is wasted and he doesn't actually use the AS from Wits End due to his passive.

Lets compare that to AD/AS damage items: item 3006 item 3153 item 3812 item 3147 item 3814 item 1416 item 1400 item 3508 item 3022 item 3124 item 3146 item 3031 item 3036 item 3004 item 3156 item 3139 item 3033 item 3115 item 3046 item 3094 item 3074 item 3085 item 3087 item 3053 item 3071 item 3072 item 3748 item 3078 item 3091 item 3142

These are any completed items that grant AD or AS. Admittedly fewer items than the defense options, but you have to keep in mind defense options are vs both AD and AP which only 2-3 of these items are ok buys on most AP champs outside of those like Kayle who just want to abuse AS whatever the form.

After we cut down the list we are left with: item 3006 item 3153 item 3147 item 3814 item 1416 item 3022 item 3146 item 3031 item 3036 item 3139 item 3046 item 3094 item 3074 item 3085 item 3087 item 3053 item 3072 item 3748 item 3091

In comparison to defensive items we lost far fewer.

Can you really say that a stagnation of a gamemode's meta has nothing to do with the fact that roughly half of all items in the game lose out on stats that they are balanced around? That it is only coincidence that many of the strongest URF champions normally build items that didn't get hit by this nerf? That many strong champions that did get their normal itemization hit have other options they can turn to?

Sure many of those items make a comeback due to strong passives/actives like Death's Dance which has a passive that effectively scales with CDR since it lets abilities heal you or Hextech Protobelt which has a strong active.

more diversity doesnt mean squat if im not having fun...

Its in everyones right to chose the champ they want. if ppl keep chosing those OP champs in urf...tough luck!! its completly their choice on what champions to play and theres nothing u can do about it besides picking ur own champ.

Honestly just give urf a 10 champ ban system and that it!! thats it. thats all we need...srly, making urf random makes you lose or win right at the start of the game, either ur team comp synergy is good and u win by default, or its ass and u cant do shit about it and lose. how is that fun???? its a gamble, and most of the time i get champs that i genuinely dont like to play, in urf or normal rift, i really hate to play those champions and i cant even reroll because rerolls are limited, and if i dodge ill became everything i hate, so i wont do it, but ill still have a horrible time playing, it feels like a chore and whether i win or lose i still didnt have fun at all becase the champ i was playing feels absolutly boring to me. This is what happens to me 9/10 games i play in ARURF...its beyond boring and i should get to pick the champ i feel like playing to have fun. and no i dont pick those OP champions everyone else plays because i find them boring too...

Just put all these game modes on custom games, that way we can play whatever we want in any way we want, if we want urf, well make a room with urf mode, if we want AR URF, well make a room with AR URF. SIMPLE!!! and we wont be stuck with this stupid game rotation, so many game modes i want to play but i cant because "riot knows better".... -_- first they killed my crystal scar and now this... sigh* Your taking the enjoyment out of the game and making it a frustrating "sport". i know you mean well riot, but please, dont...just dont. Everytime u make something good, you panic once some people start complaining about it..LIKE THEY REPRESENTED THE WHOLE COMUNITY!?!?!?! wtf!! stop being such a wuss riot and bring the REAL urf back! at least in custom games! i dont care about exp or ip i just want to have fun with whatever i want to play. winning or losing doesnt matter, its making fun and exciting plays that make the game fun and entertaining. Its obvious your going to lose at the end against that OP team composition with 100% synergy, you lost at the champion selection, but even so you can still have alot of fun with the champion YOU picked not some random boring chore #MAKEURFGREATAGAIN

Yes, and they're all wrong, plain and simple. They all think it was done for "balance" AND RIOT STATED OVER AND OVER THAT THAT ISN'T THE CASE. It's merely for variety, not balance. Obviously it would be stupid to do it for balance, guess what? Nobody did.

ARURF needs to be on twisted treeline or howling abyss to be perfectly honest. Having it on summoners rift doesnt make sense for how aagro it is. Maybe the crystal scar, i think a circular arena type map would be the best for ARURF.

Hexakill also needs to be on the rift. Whoever thought it needed to be on TT was a moron.

Dynikus6 votes

hexakill would suck on summoner's rift. It would basically be a normal game just with 2 top.

Paroe3 votes

It sucks on TT because TT is so damn small. SR is large enough to accommodate six players at least.

Skorch7 votes

I think thats WHY its on TT, it makes it SO god damn hectic.

EDIT: The real fun is getting 6 player together and going Azir Heimerdinger Zyra Yorick Shaco Maokai And if you crash their games you win.

Dynikus3 votes

The point of hexakill is making it chaotic. putting it on SR would just feel like a normal game.

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

That..... that's the entire reason they put it on TT...... They did it because it's so small and the map is normally meant for only six players. You're complaining about what was intentionally done to make the mode more fun.

ChaoticPinecone2 votes

"More fun". You mean to make the mode less about strategy and more about brawling.

I loved Hex on SR. You can go dual top, you can go dual mid, double jungle, 4-stack lane pushing, etc. You would see a lot more combinations of champions, like the triple hook comp (Blitz, Thresh, Naut) because you could have 3 support/tanks and still have 3 carries.

Now its just "permaban Shaco and Teemo and play a ton of poke".

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

Yes, that's the entire point of Hexakill.

I played Hexakill when it was on SR, it really REALLY didn't work out that way. Unless the sixth person picked another support there wasn't enough gold on the map to support them. It works on TT better because more people are starved of farm gold and so most get it from kill gold and since there are so many fights the game progresses at a good pace without leaving anyone too far behind.

ChaoticPinecone1 votes

And thats where I disagree with you. The game modes dont HAVE to be about brawling - we see that through Doombots or Nexus Siege, and even with OFA to a point since they took it from Howling Abyss to Summoners Rift. Nemesis Draft was even good. The ones about the brawl were URF and Ascention.

Hex has potential to be a strategy game instead of a brawl. I often did see it work out that way - some teams would go for scaling with the double support, others would go for the earlygame with the double jungle. I didnt see dual mid too often, but I remember facing it once and trying it rightafter. And personally, I think game progression SHOULD include scaling and snowballing. I hate how on TT, it seems that everybody ends up with full build unless you get stomped. You can do really well in the earlygame with an earlygame comp, but if the enemy has some decent waveclear in each lane and hold their inhib turrets youre free to pick the AP Ezreal and wreak at 20 minutes.

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

Hexakill is designed for brawling. It's the brawling game mode. There's not enough difference between normal SR and Hexakill on SR for Riot to justify putting it up again.

ChaoticPinecone1 votes

And again - this is where we disagree. Hexkill on SR, which was the first map it was released with, was NOT designed for brawling. It was designed similar to SR. Putting Hex on TT made it about brawling.

MóDaR1 votes

the fact that u have alot of players in a small map is what gave hexakill its charm, i know what you mean but if it was on sr it would be no different than regular rift, and thats just plain boring

That's exactly what it was when it was first released and why they moved it to TT.
