"I would rather lose than play support role properly when autofilled."

That is how I feel people think when they get autofilled into support in my matches. I consider myself a support main and Im seeing some really derp picks/play.

I regularly call out to the the jungler:

"Hey Zyra Lux Brand Annie (insert other champ here) isnt building a sightstone, free ganks." Most of the time if our jg understands how to jg, that lane gets shit on cause of the lack of vision.

On top of no vision, they play all HAM-tastic, screw up the ADCs wave management, dont know when to make a play and when to save peel... if they even understand the concept of peel.

The most frustrating part is; rather than just do their best when autofilled we have people just going "Fuckall I just dont care! Cant wait for this match to be over so I can play a real one."

Are you guys seeing this "Id rather lose than" attitude in your matches? Im sure as the elo climbs this goes away.

I'm a Zyra Support Main. I do buy a SS first into Eye. It has no effect on the fact that I generally deal sickening damage from the Support Role, and I still maintain vision control. Support is a totally different game than any of the other roles. They simply aren't equipped to do what a good support does. They have this idea that you're going to be someone's bitch for 40 minutes, and that's not the role at all. The role is vision control, objective control, watching the minimap and keeping tabs on all 5 enemies, and still fighting in lane to help your carry get fed. It's not easy to do well.

Being a Support is for the entire team. I'm not often the "shot caller", but I do ensure to my best capacity the "visual awareness" of the shot caller to make the right calls. Against an auto-filled Support, I can keep their side of the map lit up like a Christmas Tree. Another Support main won't let me get away with that so easily. Not to mention, they are always far, far to aggressive and make tactical mistakes almost as a matter of course.

Sure, sometimes I'll whack minions on purpose, but not to kill them. Usually to exploit a positioning mistake by my opponents. In fact, since the changes to Spellthiefs/Frostfang, I'm thankful when my carries are on their toes and capitalizing on the easier CS I can provide on accident. Most of the carries I run with know that they have to be on their toes sometimes because my plants don't give a total biscuit about what they're shooting at after their sprouted.

Forcing someone to play the role causes stress. Forcing someone who already has a negative view of the role is worse. But there aren't enough Support Mains to go around either, and it would be beneficial for most players to learn and understand just how pivotal the role can be in spite of the fact that most of our "stats" don't reflect what we do well.

Preach it brother.

Agreed.

I thought I was going to be a Sona main toward the beginning of my League career. Then, I had several games where my ADC DCed and left me (a Sona) to try to defend the lane by myself. T_T

Needless to say that I main Poppy Top now but I still understand the importance of playing the Support role well.

On the last part, it is partially Riot's fault. My top 3 roles are Top/Support/Jungle but if I put support even as a secondary, I will get it more than 70% of the time and I don't want that. Especially when I want to improve my jungle game.

Good post, seems like your seeing what I am. Sad that its happening to others, glad to know its not just me.

Meanwhile about 40% of the playerbase doesnt know what aitem 3302 does and get pissed your trying to take their CS and still fight you for cannon minions... after you explain what it does.

I can NEVER understand why these %%%%s refuse to buy sightstone and then go with their stupid full AP build.

Truth. Eye doesn't have the best stats but it doesn't have the worst either. It's also cheap as hell and provides a large part of your gold income. Frost queens has its uses also but I never see a frost queen user also buy a sight stone. Full AP builders don't understand that support needs defense stats too, it helps you survive warding trips into dark territory and too stay alive long enough to keep your team alive.

They do it for a couple reasons as far as I can tell.

First, they queued up as support, but wanted mid so they get a mid and build like a mid AP carry even though theyre support... cause they want to carry.

Second, they have this "MY ADC MISSED A CS! They suck, I better carry this" mentality.

Lastly, they get autofilled and dont understand the visioin control game, why its important, and just think "Meh, wuts da wurst dat could happen?"

You have now discovered the one true reason on why the supports win rates are so high.
