Wait, what DQ has fixed seriously?

Ahristocats··52 votes·1,877 views

More teamplay? you have to follow what your premade are doing, you can't do the opposite or it will be "why didn't you go with me on tristana", "shut up you should have come with us doing drake"

less unskilled players? Hell no

Less toxicity? We can't know since premades don't use chat, i except more toxicity toward solo players playing with a 4 man premade for example.

Dynamic queue has fixed nothing , i really can't see what it fixed and further it brought several problems:

-"wtf is anoying lvl here" , we can't know WHO deserve what rank simply because of boosting... which has become legal??? -semi-pro lvl being completly fucked up because diamonds can't play as 4 or 5, SO you fucked up ranked 5v5 for the sake of dynamic queue? AHHHH my bad, i forgot that not every players are diamond. -match making balance becoming non-existant, like how are you supposed to balance matches right now? remember when lebron james+wade joined miami and still lost despite being very good, because they still didn't have teamplay against good teamplay? lately i saw a lot of imbalanced mmr games... -and finally solo players will live in hell now.

It has made it so that you can play with more friends if you want to. that is literally its only point

Ahristocats11 votes

i see, but how this system can work if it sucks for solo players? you need them for dynamic queue.

KONO RUBICK DA2 votes

those players should understand that if they stop playing then riot will have no choises but to revert DynamicQ. "they aren't a lot" well that's better than doing nothing.

LatetotheRace8 votes

Riot refuses to release the actual numbers of solo players, but I seriously doubt it's a minority by any means.

MrWasjig1 votes

Way ahead of you. I've not played League in over a week.

That may not sound like much but it's the longest I've gone without touching it since I started playing 3 years ago. And that time-frame of not playing will continue to grow.

CasterGilgamesh1 votes

well if everyone tried to be nice and make friends in game and be less toxic maybe Dynamic Q would be better but as you can see this player base is toxic

LatetotheRace5 votes

Sorry to burst your little friendship bubble, but that's not what I play ranked for. I don't want duo partners, I don't want to find a group. I want to sharpen my own personal skill, and climb the ranks on my own. That is the test of skill this game had for the longest time.

CasterGilgamesh1 votes

its not a friendship bubble its a "not being an asshole" but i guess edgy teens have trouble being that..... sigh i have no idea why i bother

And now that skill has expanded to "playing well with your team". It's necessary. Riot wants players to group together more often so they don't have to keep trying to strike a balance between solo queue nightmares (easily shut down assassins like Katarina and Rengar) and pro play where simple teamwork makes all of these champions useless.

The Whamboozler6 votes

Yeah.. that wouldn't make those matches fair for the solo players. It would just make people nicer. The solo player is still at a sizable disadvantage in matches where premades show up... even when he also has one on his team. Them being nice about it doesn't mean that DQ is good. It still undercuts the entire point of rank by biasing towards premade players. Ranked it supposed to be an even playing field. If it wants to call itself a serious competitive thing, it should be trying to make the game as evenly matched as possible, not giving you an advantage over other people for bringing friends into the game... or giving you a higher rank if you HAVE a friend playing the game who can car you.

It's sleezy and dangerously close to pay to win. It's giving in-game advantages to the people who riot thinks are bringing more people into the game.

CasterGilgamesh1 votes

we already had premades in rank its called DUO now anyway this is a team fucking game can no one get it through their heads that you need to nice to people and work well with them?If people werent so toxic being premade wouldnt be a big problem since you can easily express your intents and communicate with your team. But What ever i guess people just need to learn the hard way....That You cant do every thing by yourself in a team game!

The Whamboozler6 votes

Tell you what then. ONLY let 5 man teams play ranked. Then ranked will in fact be a proper showing of how well your team plays and your ability to work together.

Right now, they're rating you on individual skill, in games that are not won by individual skill.

RasCaelestis1 votes

I'd consider myself a very nice person in-game, and someone that can adapt well to working with different people. At various points, I've had the green, blue, and yellow 'cooperation banner' honor rewards.

That said, I've had some bad experiences online, so I'm really cautious about who I add to my friends list in any game. In about four years of playing League, I've only added two people that I haven't met in person.

I do have a group of friends I play with, and we were glad when DQ first came out, but now that we've actually played it and seen how many flaws it has, a lot of us (myself included) miss solo-queue. Solo was always my preferred queue type, even when I mained support and good communication with an ADC was required. I held out hope that it would come back, but now I have little faith left in League overall.

I mean most of my friends dont like ranked or don't play LoL at all and 3 of my friends are diamond and therefore i can't play ranked with them.

The Whamboozler5 votes

They already had that mode. It was called "normals". If you wanted to play with friends for fun... you did that. If you wanted to play ranked, you either got a team together, or you played solo.

Dynamic queue helped a VERY small percentage of players who wanted to play ranked with their friends, but who lacked enough friends to form a ranked team. And I guess it helped boosters a lot too, but I doubt THAT was intentional. For that, they took a huge, runny dump on solo players... who I'd imagine... make up the largest percentage of ranked players.

Riot doesn't always act logically, they refuse to acknowledge their mistakes and that's why they don't revert changes

they do revert zed's nerf though

Leetri2 votes

What? Riot admits most of their mistakes.

LatetotheRace5 votes

Admit and fix are two very different things.... As such, Riot cannot be trusted atm.

kaltenashes5 votes

the only good change that came with dynaboost was the other system, the new champ select

too bad you cant use the champ select as a solo player, it says you can its tempting, but it aint worth the tilt

next patch or so i advise rito to make having a friend a requirement in SR:

1- Step: invite a friend, friend accepted? Yes then 2- Step: choose normal or ranked and so on

no friends? go play Co-op vs AI

lmao this kid 4 man groups shouldn't exist

Astôlfo4 votes

It's fixed having a happy playerbase.

macromite3 votes

counterpoints.

If you are ignoring your team you don't deserve anything past bronze anyway.

there are less unskilled players, dyna boosting is better than normal boosting for game health.

4 mans staying toxic to each other is better than 5 people being toxic at each other. it's a minor change, but it is way better than what solo entails.

dyna queue has fixed a lot. More players actually are deserving of higher rank than you think, and more are deserving of lower. the solo bastards that are getting demoted are not victims of dyna queue, they are victims of the new champ select, which funnily enough always gets pointed out as specifically not dyna. more people getting higher in rank is not a bad thing either, bronze and silver have long been oversaturated with players that play on par with most mid tier gold players, which is an issue, and as bronze vastly outnumbers gold, it is more likely an issue with the climb in general. dyna vastly helps with low level game grinding.

The only real issues with dyna are focused in the diamond and above scenario, but that is such a small slice that it being ignored at first was to be anticipated.

also on all your points

  • you could never know who deserved rank. boosting like this has always existed, be happy that team hating bastards are being kicked out.
  • ranked 5v5 was already fucked to begin with. it's not a matter of why, it's a matter of why didn't it happen sooner.
  • Imbalanced mmr games are fine really, it is a sign of changing times.
  • solo players live in hell because the ones that are still solo are demons. things that exude unfriendliness to such an extent that they cannot play a game with others. Also, if you want to bring up the argument that all your friends are not close enough in rank, then why are you incapable of making new friends? did you forget how?
KONO RUBICK DA4 votes

"if you're ignoring your team", what if your team ignore you? Before i used to be a true leader always ambushing people alone catching players 1 by 1, but what if your premade play on their side and doesn't listen to you? there aren't less unskilled players, NOP, playing with friends doesn't suddenly give you massive skill. 4 mans staying toxic is toxic point,

"you could never know if you deserve your rank", you could because if you got in diamond by luck you wouldn't stay in diamond forever i would give you a week before you got demoted.

"ranked 5v5 was already fucked" nop, sorry can't see this, ranked 5v5 was extremly effective to train your team for semi-pro lvl.

"incapable of making new friends", lol m8, get REAL friends internet friends are such a joke.

macromite1 votes

the alone guy doesn't get to pick. the only exception of course is if you are the team's main initiate, and your team is behind you.

true leaders aren't ambushing 1v1's, and even if they are what does that have to do wiht your team not following you, its a 1v1, if you can't handle it alone you are bad.

There are less unskilled players, playing with friends is better than not playing, and the people dyna boosting is the same as the people normal boosting. playing with friends in dyna is also better for the most part, infact playing with low level friends as a higher level will often drag down the better player.

4 mans being toxic is better than 4 different people ruining 4 different games. especially if the 4 man is being toxic to each other out of chat.

these days, diamond by luck goes in a day, way better.

5v5 was fucked because teams of highly variable levels would constantly show up. how can you show your team is gold level when you only play against plat and diamond teams.

IF you think so than you don't understand the make of a friend. real friends on the outside are of the same people that friends on the internet are. there is no inherent difference to the concept.

Fovere3 votes

DQ has created a lot of problems only to allow people to play with more friends in ranked, which I imagine is a very small percentage of people.

The folks who like playing with friends generally arent interested in the more ranked/competitive gameplay, and the folks who prefer competitive gameplay are far more interested in working on their individual skills than playing with friends.

This mode doesn't really make anyone happy, and ultimately doesn't work. You are taking away guaranteed roles AND the ability to take premades into ranked for higher Elos. When you have to break the rules of your own system to make it work, you are effectively demonstrating that it doesn't.

lofi n chillhop2 votes

it shifts the league's focus from "big play solo carry" to "strategic play teamwork"

it's got kinks to work out. so what?

LatetotheRace8 votes

Too bad those kinks are more like having one of your vertebrae in your ankle. The system sounds decent in theory, but in practice, it just won't work.

lofi n chillhop1 votes

in practice, it is working. solo players have a more difficult time than before, but still see merit in playing. if it didn't work, then games would never kick off except 5v5's and 3+2's v 3+2's. just because a portion of the solo queue population is unhappy doesn't make the system broken.

Riot wants to find a way to make it less unsatisfying for solo players, but the reality is that if they didn't even bother the system would still succeed, it already has succeeded.

Ahristocats3 votes

for real, there is no teamplay, all you have is premades ignoring you ignoring pings, playing their game and excluding solo players.

it's like before but instead of having 5 players alone you have: 3 players+ 2 players alone

what's worse is that before 5 good social solo players were able to play like a team LIKE ME.

lofi n chillhop1 votes

IDK I usually win when I'm with a group of 3 or 4. The new way to "climb the ladder" is to make plays that benefit the team, instead of plays that benefit yourself. this is the reason why I hugely support dynamic queue, because the dream of ranked is to get good enough to play on a LCS team, where playing with the team is what wins and playing for yourself is so easily abused by your enemies. before when ranked was easy to 1v9 carry, was just a miserable experience that achieved nothing.

LatetotheRace2 votes

That's pretty much the mindset of diamonds last season, a strong team oriented play style that benefits you in the long run. bronze-gold think it's all about them plays though. Whereas I see the benefit of playing with a team (no matter how small) the system in place does nothing to actually balance games properly. There might be a shift in skill so the premades are generally better when up against a 5man, but now you're playing against people who are objectively better than you, and that's not a solution.

lofi n chillhop1 votes

yes, the matchmaking system right now needs an update. but that isn't by the nature of dynamic queue, it is because the way the algorithms and the MMR system are making matches does not work with dynamic queue.

IMO Riot just needs to rework the MMR and ELO systems, and/or rework the matchmaking algorithms. I think also, there are ways in which Dynamic Queue can be adjusted to make that easier as well.

But you were breaking the ToS with it. Now it's legal.

bulldoggamer1 votes

At least from my experience, toxicity has dropped significantly, as has the number of AFKs. I also have had a better solo experience because there is generally some team cohesion and i can play the more supportive jungle style that comes naturally to me. It also has allowed me to play with friends in a competitive environment so we can all help each other grow in our knowledge of the game.

Now bring on the downvotes. I welcome them with open arms.

KONO RUBICK DA2 votes

How does dynamic queue reduce afks? i don't get it. IRL problems aren't reduced, and friends can still get angry and afk in premades.

bulldoggamer1 votes

They can but they are less likely to. One is less likely to leave friends out to dry than complete strangers. And it's far less frustrating if you are communicated with as to what the cause of the AFK is than if they just vanish on you. And it may be that i'm no longer getting frustrated with these AFKs so it just seems like there are less. But even if that is the case, it makes playing ranked far less frustrating. I've pretty much solo climbed from B2 to G5 this season and have yet to encounter a premade that has created a negative environment equal to that of soloQ. But as i've said this is just my experience and i could be an anomaly.

LatetotheRace1 votes

Toxicity has reduced, but so has communication. Premades often tend to isolate players unintentionally. They may not be trying to, but when they're wrapped up in conversation, they often get distracted.

bulldoggamer1 votes

But there is the opposite side of the spectrum. There are premades that embrace singular players and it heightens communication between all parties. I'm in no way saying that the system is perfect, It has issues for sure, but my personal experience has definitely improved since the start of DQ.

Swaid1 votes

Well, when I play with my buddies, I always try to alleviate the negativity often associated with premades. Hell, I even support for complete strangers in bottom lane while my premade buddies are in the jungle, middle, or at top. I communicate with pings, take time to type, whatever I can to make sure you solo bros and broettes aren't left out in the cold. Forwarned, if you are toxic, we will mute and report you; there are jsut soem things that are inexcusable.
