imo big problem with top snowball is tower plates punishing roams

generally speaking all the super good roamers who can run to a lane and get back quickly are mid laners, and also they get better access to bottom lane so the reward risk is less skewed.

In top lane where the champion pick matters a lot more because you're up to 1v1 more it can sometimes set you back just as much as dying would if you try to roam, especially if you didn't pick up the kill. You're kind of on a timer to get that gold while the other guy has 14 minutes to knock you silly and can freepush for tower money if you leave.

I don't think people talk about this enough because I definitely feel like I exploit it hard in favorable matchups and when a lot of champs have counterplay heavily revolving in beating them on the map not in lane, this setup ends up inflating their value a lot.

160 per plate if I recall correctly, so getting two already gives you more than a kill, which is pretty fucking absurd. Idk why it had to be that much of an insane value when the real purpose of plating was to stop turrets from dying faster. Just gives godlike turret destroyers like Jax and Trynd a mini bank for them to feed off of until its gone.

I mean, that's kinda the point, Tower Plates are supposed to punish roams, because of the advantage that roaming can bring to other lanes. It's very akin to why Jungle was nerfed in it's EXP, because Riot decided that having a position that can affect all the lanes in the game shouldn't also be able to keep up with exp when constantly ganking. You not winning in lane, but going to help snowball a different lane, should have a cost for the potential upside that is a gank.

A successful roam, however, benefits equally from Tower plates, unless you fail in which you walk away ashamed.

Tower plates were made to reward early game aggression, discourage early roaming, and lengthen laning phase, because before you had bot who won lane and were in midlane at 7-10 minutes in, or insert any other lane. Now, the same can still happen, but they're now ditching their tower as well and giving the enemy Plate gold in exchange for them influencing the map elsewhere, which can help people come back.

160 x5 + tower taking bonus gold

It's like 1,000 gold for taking a turret.

The snowball affects all lanes.
