Do You Ever Fall Out of Love With Your Main?

I know, weird question, but I don't know how else to word it.

This is something I am beginning to feel. Like I feel as though my main is just becoming inadequate for what I am attempting to do and that all of my attempts to do anything with it throughout all of last season resulted in failure for me.

I just don't know if the champion I main is cutting it for me, but what else am I supposed to do? Keep at it or try to learn something different?

I'd hate to start learning a new champion all over. It'd feel like I'd be starting from "level 0", but if I was any kind of decent at the champion I main then why is it that after getting 1 mil+ mastery points and rank 7 I still can't break beyond silver?

Does anyone else experience this?

People get as high as masters 1 tricking champions like warwick. It's not the champion. Well maybe a little bit, but the rest is most possibly due to your inability to adapt when your champion falls out of meta or receives changes.

Aside from that, the other main big factor has got to be your macro play. Assuming that after 1mil+ points you are thoroughly adequate in almost all match-ups for your main and have your micro-mechanics down. The only thing left then is your macro-mechanics. How you pressure the map. How you go for objectives. How you know when and how to handle teamfights. How you rely on your teammates when you're behind and support them. How you manage your waves at every point of the game. How you close out games you are winning and deny the enemy of any chance of coming back. How you set up ganks for your jungler, or gank if you are the jungler. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Macro is based on player skill and knowledge. You don't have to be a mechanical god to be challenger. Or you can be a mechanical god and not be in challenger. Macro is what wins games.

Thank you for the insight. I personally struggle with a mild form of OCD that makes focusing on more than one thing at a time difficult for me. And it places me at a severe disadvantage in game, but it's something I am working on to overcome so that my, "macro play", as you put it, improves.

Np! Sorry to hear about your handicap. The fact that you're silver means you're already better than many others though. Keep it up and good luck! Eventually it'll become second nature

Jinx when season 6 started off with 2 heavy nerfs to her early game damage making her unplayable in most games because they ended in 15 minutes.

I've dropped mains before. When they've been nerfed, or meta'd so far down that they just aren't worth playing anymore. Or when I fell in love with something else.

I started as a Karthus main, but there hit a point during Season2 where he was really difficult vs what was popular, but people hadn't picked up on Malph yet. I switched to Malphite until the pros got him nerfed into dirt and I had to change. Ended up with no real main until I started playing Lulu top. Followed her into support as her top lane build ability got spayed, and stayed with her until they nerfed her support into crap. Now I'm a one-trick Zyra player.

Don't feel bad if you change. This is a game, it's for fun. If trying to stay with a champion is like beating your head on a wall, swap. FInd something else that you enjoy.

I totally feel that Lux's lane phase is not viable past gold elo. Her ability to farm under tower is significantly lesser than most other mages, and as a 4/4 skillshot-based champion, almost all of her long-range, slow-flying skills get sidestepped. Her later game potential is still good, but even then, there are other mages that can do the same thing but better.

Mained her for two years. Began to lose games throughout season six and late season five. Unplayable now with Nami, Zyra, and Karma. I love her, but after continual nerfs and changes in the meta, she's not that good.
