I had an epiphany regarding champions.

Everyone should stop looking for champions to hate and start looking for champions to enjoy.

I rage about a lot of champions when I play league and I myself am a Riven main so I'm sure alternatively people are raging about my champion. Most of my anger is just heat of the moment stuff but I really really hate Ori. Oriana is a champion that absolutely tilts me to high hell and I asked myself "why would anyone want to play that champ?" The answer hit me and it was actually really simple and eye opening, as silly as it sounds.

Because they enjoy playing her.

They enjoy her and I enjoy Riven.

People play champs not to make you have a bad time or ruin your game (at least not all the time,) but simply for the fact that they enjoy that champ. I think that really everyone should just start enjoying their champs more and worrying less about other players.

The boards should have less "fuck x champ" posts and more "Hey I really enjoy x champ, who else does and how do you play them, whats your style?" Positive attitude would go a long way for everyone to just have a better time.

So next time you think about flaming that Ahri or that Yasuo, just remember they enjoy their champ as much as a the next guy. They probably don't care about the numbers or look every day at their win rates, they probably just sit down and go "Wow, I really enjoy this champion, they're really fun."

Find your own fun champ too.

A nice idea, but the problem is more of how much they outclass other champions. For example, why play vi or renekton when I could play riven? Riven has better mobility, better damage, and more reliable crowd control. Some people will say she can't jungle, but I'd bet it's because; they never tried it, and she's more effective at split pushing than roaming.

Renekton is naturally beefy and can serve as both a massive lane bully and highly effective back line diver OR front line defense.

Vi completely outclasses Riven as a jungler but I get what you're trying to get at.

I think most champs have something they can do differently or unique that they can bring to the table. Hell I even think Aatrox is in a pretty fine state right now of all champs and I have no issues pulling him out without worrying about being outclassed by the enemy.

So is riven with her short cooldown shield, which scales off of AD, that she'll build anyway.

Ideally yes, but often that's not the case; easiest example would be marksmen. They used to be an obvious gradient of who excels in particular situations; late game carrys like kogmaw & jinx, early game bullies like caitlyn & sivir, ext. However every year, they've blended lines that shouldn't have been crossed; such as lucian being a top pick because he was such a generalist marksman, having good early game and late game. Another example would be giving assassins AOE crowd control, seriously how did they not expect to be built tanky when they already have high damage in their kits?
