@Meddler, how does it make sense to give Wit's end a ranged/melee clause but not Rageblade?

FalconPawwwwnch··35 votes·1,762 views

The melee/ranged difference was removed when Rageblade was reworked, but now you say you're giving melee champs more incentive to buy wit's end because it's harder for melees to get autoattacks in?

Where's the logic exactly?

Yup, i remember, only one I had an issue with using it out of those3 was Jax, for obvious reasons. Mostly that's because jax gets a retarded amount of resistances from his ulty; something that they too from Xin with his rework because they don't like champs with invisible power. Why jax gets to keep his stats on ulty and Xin didn't? IDK. Plus you could pop Xim back then, not something easy to do to jax with that very short cool down leap and AA blocking he gets.

In yi's Case, I didn't mind Yi using it because you could CC and dom a Yi if he wasn't smart and if he dove into your team it was a dead Yi. Was a little annoying if he caught you out alone though.

Umm... do you really want to see Jax with an Ultimate that makes him invulnerable to ranged attacks? Because that is what Xin got in exchange...

I preferred old Xin's ulty. Flat stats are better then a easily counter playable ultimate. I mean most the time as Xin you want to dive on the ADC and using the ulty after diving is kind of stupid since they will still be within the ring to AA you most of the time after you use E and then they will flash/dash while being shielded. At which point you will eat a CC and they will stand just inside your ring and kill you while you are CC'ed or kite you if your still alive when the CC ends.

I preferred the flat stats for dueling and surviving more AA's from the marksmen or other champs if I did go for the back line. Sure the current ulty helps against the mages, but you will still get dicked over and screwed by any CC.

Really my point is, why does jax get to keep his resistances plus have a arguable better diving tool (counter strike, I rather block criting AA's and dodge use my skill shot dodging skills or rely on my resists to survive AP burst.) and having an AoE stun while Xin got his removed for a ulty that is very easy to counter play and is kind of just there for duels? If Xin has his removed, jax should to because it goes against riots statements of not liking invisible power.

Really though I would like Xin to get his %armor pen back so he can deal with and help counter tanks so they can't just build item 3076 item 3075 and then forever after auto win against him.

It's very problematic to implement tho, because some melee's like Jax or Irelia have very reliable dash+cc combo (read: targetable). If required stacks would be halved for melee, it would just make the simplest of melees stronger and dominant over more challanging melee champions, because they would have BY FAR the easiest time stacking it.

I'd rather see melee's get bigger output from Rageblade, i.e. more base onhit damage or more AD/AP per stack.

item 3091 is different because the difference between fully stacked and almost-full-stacked is less drastic.

Could also just increase the stacks needed for ranged. Keeps Melee stronger by comparison but doesn't actually buff them.

Zero Skill Tank1 votes

Yeah, but RB isn't even in wide use on rangeds.

RenownedWheat425 votes

Varus and Kog are both heavily meta ADCs which use it. Kayle also makes insanely good use of it and she might as well be ranged.

How are 3 champions a 'wide use'?

Schàdenfreude3 votes

I don't think "wide use" is the right term. I think "abuse" is the better term.

Zero Skill Tank1 votes

Right, because carry champions with AD, AP and AS scalings buying item that grants AD, AP and AS is an 'abuse' case.

RenownedWheat422 votes

You said wide use, not me. Either way, wide use is irrelevant - Varus and Kog dominate the meta due largely in part to rageblade. If no other ranged champ is building it, then why are we worried about this sort of a nerf? This will keep Varus, Kog, and Kayle more in line and it won't negatively affect anyone else.

I'm saying this from the point-of-view of someone who absolutely LOVES Kayle and Varus, btw.

But the only guys getting Wit's end are ranged KogMaw Kayle (and sometimes Teemo )

6 months after the Wits End change the dialogue will be something like this, "Yeah, so we like that melee get to stack Wits End faster, but we also would like to see more ranged aa-based champions buy it so we're going to change it to a base stack amount of 6"

They've been doing the same shit for years lmao but I'm there with you man, I'm tired of it too.

Just be glad wit's end is getting a melee buff. It's a start.

I'd be OK if it's reduced to 4 aa's on mêlee to get phantom hit and keep the as at 6 aa's. Phantom hit is often alot beter on melees as those who want the item often have "on 3th auto" effects.

HalcyonDweller2 votes

Could it be because Wit's End grants the user resistances as they attack more? Making it more suited to melee champions...?

Just speculating as to why, not insisting that this is the reason.

Are we forgetting how busted guinsoo was on melee autoattacker when it was viable?

NOBODY liked jax/iralia/yi (or even tryndamere) bursting with one item bigger than all the QQ topic about ADC crit item.

Be real.

Good luck sticking on anyway as melee enough to make the item worth it. With how much mobility and damage is in this game now I doubt we'll see a huge resurgence.

I hope the buffs are decent, because even stacking it faster, there is no point bulding as a melee unless your Jax Shyvana . because most AA type melee's do only physical damage so them shredding MR is pointless and if they buff it too much KogMaw and Kayle get even stupider. Thy may very well be trying to make it the MR version of a black cleaver? But unless it gives some tankiness or some other benefit besides only helping your mage out then I don't see a point. Why build it when you can just build more damage yourself and just kill the target yourself? I get they want team synergy play but I don't see how they make the item work without making it a more general item and less of a niche.

It could work for tanks, but again unless it gives bulk or something more then just AS and a tiny bit of MR then I don't see it being useful over HP and armor items and AD items.

I mean i could see it on Diana, but unless she gets a kit change. Then everyone is going to keep playing her for burst over DPS.

Woah there sonny boy, we can't fix all the problems with the game in one patch now.

DuskDaUmbreon1 votes

Two differently functioning items. Wit's End is a more defensive item, whereas Rageblade is an offensive item. Generally melee champions have plenty of damage already, whereas ranged champions are generally meant to be lower defense.

And we don't want Jax getting an instantly fully stacked Rageblade by Q>E>Titanic. Because that shit was...just...no.

Kaioko1 votes

Because absolutely no one wants to see the double stack on melee hit mechanic come back.
