Going Over CDR Cap

What's so bad about going over the cdr cap. Especially if core items all have cdr, and other good items have cdr. Some people act like going over the cdr cap is a sin or something.

Optimization. Basically if you build over 40% cdr, you are wasting a stat and therefore gold/rune/mastery points

No one buys Zeke's because it isn't that great.

If it built out of Stinger instead of Kindlegem it would suddenly be a viable option on AD folks who happen to like CDR.

Basically you're wasting gold, which in turn is making you waste win potential.

is that why no one buys Zeke's Herald? item 3070 item 3050 item 3070

No one buys zekes because it offers very little in way of defensive statistics, and you are assuming that lifesteal will be enough to keep you/your adc/top lane alive. Not to mention it costs a hell of alot of gold.

It's also the most cost efficient item in the game, buy it on somebody like Leona that engages and then team follows up to give your entire team a 5k gold worth of stats

It's not a sin, it's just not cost efficient. I'm personally hoping Riot eventually goes through with the idea to implement an item that ups the cdr cap to 50%

It's not a sin. It is however fairly stupid, considering cdr items aren't generally optimized for damage, you don't need morellos AND grail, and if you build both you lose out on a lot of damage/survivability/utility.

Lets say a person gets cooldown reduction up to 100% miraculously with good items, lets say a champion like morde got 100% cdr and max 40% spell vamp with decent ap, That would allow him to ult as many times as he wants on all 5 enemy champions ultimately keeping his hp all the way up and then having 5 ghosts as his ult only doesn't cooldown after the ghost becomes a ghost. Sorakas heal, her ult be spammed NO ONE DIES.

There's nothing wrong with buying past the CDR cap, you just lose gold efficiency by doing so. Having CDR on an item raises its cost, you're essentially paying for more than you're getting. If you have the spare gold to do so, say perhaps by already being far ahead or at 6 items then there's no problem at all.

Sure having Grail+Morello when you already have like 5 or 10 from masteries is a poor idea as neither has any particular usefulness past the CDR. Especially when you could get higher AP and a broken active from DFG while still maxing or close to maxing out.

On the other hand, let's say for example you wanted Frozen Heart, Visage, Zephyr and Locket on Irelia. These are all items that are individually useful even after the CDR aside.
