i don't know why people are complaining about this meta

because ADCs outshadow everyone else when it comes to "meta"

Geauxx5 votes

people were crying about adcs being overpowered when they were trash for the entire first half of this season, don't even try that.

Lauchmelder19 votes

ADCs were trash for one patch at most and the "ADC in 2k17" bullshit meme was overused by bad ADCs to try and justify their own missplays.

Disembark1 votes

They were bad for a long ass time lmao. Like the whole pre season and 90% of the spring split the meta was CC bot ADCs. Just because boards was crying about Jhin being the only viable ADC doesn't mean they were overpowered, no, boards has just been littered with ADC hate for a long ass time. Don't let that fool you into thinking it's true.

Lauchmelder1 votes

Just because they weren't the only class that could be the gamewinning role doesn't mean they were bad, my dear ADC main.

It's completely different to now, where a Master tier player I met in ARAM told me to camp bot (as midlaner) for free wins for how bullshit ADCs are right now.

Disembark1 votes

Camping bot was the strat when ADCs were bad too. They weren't just "not a overwhelming carry role", they became super worthless in games because Junglers were consistently 3 levels above them, and towers were shit.

Camping bot IS ALWAYS the strat, those are 2 under leveled players to kill and 2 players to snowball (the players that are gonna be the siege machines).

Going top is less worth because top lane can't come mid and force down the tower if they're melee. Also getting a kill bot is easier if you focus one person (support locks down 1 person, now it's 3 people hitting 1 person and they go down a lot quicker).

Not an ADC main but good argument there lol.

I wouldn't say so much as balanced I think its just everything right now is busted to the point where i is balanced. Think about it if everything is broken then the game is balanced.

TheSingularity2 votes

Balanced, maybe.

But compared to the balance of s4, s7 is a joke.

Class wise we see a bit of everything. However within those classes is a very narrow selection pool. And unlike previous seasons, god tier champs have a far greater influence this season.

Jamenawerl1 votes

S4 was league of assassins. Tanks, juggernauts and mages were shit, with maybe 2 o 3 exceptions, and the games were sooooo disgustingly long and dull.

I cant remember how the metagame was exactly back then but if IRC there was an even narrower selection of competitive champs. Im pretty sure in S5 the % of champions picked in competitive play increased dramatically.

If you think god tier champs have a greater influence now, you probably dont remember s4 Kassadin (among others).

TheSingularity1 votes

Kassadin was thrown off his throne in march 2014 when his kit was reworked and the silence removed from his Q.

Juggernaut reworks didn't occur until season 5.

Tanks were actually very good as the quill coat was added which greatly assisted tank junglers.

I recall mages being good but not great. Assassins were in the meta but didn't define the meta.

It was league of every class.

Jamenawerl1 votes

Kassadin was busted until they gutted his R. And there were other monstrosities like Khazix, Lucian and Leesin.

Ofc they reworked juggernauts in s5, because in s4 they were garbage as I already said... Those reworks werent exactly nerfs, you know?

Quill coat didnt do shit and therefore it was removed in 4.20. Tank junglers were useless until they added cinderhulk in 5.5 as early junglers and feral power-farmers heavily outclassed them all. The only decent tanks in the whole game were Maokai and Alistar, both of which went toplane and just had a farm fiesta to spam botlane tps.

Mages simply werent good when every assassin could bully them, out-roam them, and being as good as them or even better in teamfights since their burst back then was so retarded. I still have nightmares with S4 LB/Talon instant grey screens, lets better not talk about Zed. As I said there were exceptions (e.g. stupid-ass pre-rework Ryze aka the machinegun) but im talking about the norm here.

Remember and believe whatever you wish, but it is a fact that you are wrong in almost everything you said and that it was league of assassins in a boring as hell meta.

So why, in that season out of them all, when tank junglers were so dam shit according to you, was I able to achieve my highest winrates on my tanks in the jungle? Shouldn't they have been lower than season 5?

Remember and believe whatever you wish, but it is a fact that you are wrong in almost everything you said and that it was league of assassins in a boring as hell meta.

Use an account that's been active for longer than season 7 and then I'll care.

Because a single random low-elo guy is a very reliable statistical sample.

Use an account that's been active for longer than season 7 and then I'll care.

Lmaokai you are already out of arguments. I dont know why you suppose this acc was created this season but are wrong on that as well. I can prove it if you want me to but honestly I dont consider it necessary nor relevant.

Because they only know how to communicate through complaining.

Often with no evidence to back it up aside from losing against X champion a bunch of times.

Yeah so everyone that plays fizz mains him but he still only has 49 win rate.

He was picked 3 times this month in rift rivals and once in turkey xd pretty sure his only use in pro play is to survive syndra.. what an honor to main that in soloq, at least i can shut down one overpowered champ kappa

You ban jayce then you're free to pick whatever tank you want.

Gnar is mostly tank himself btw on his team fight form.

nice table7 votes

gnar is way more cancer to play against top than jayce.

Ahristocats17 votes

i don't think you seem to realise

jax has 52% win rate 15% pick rate camille is a difficult champion to play but is also strong af j4 is busted great

if you pick a tank top into a bruiser you're going to get destroyed no matter if you ban jayce or not the only tank viable in the toplane are shen and gragas and cho , maokai is played in the jungle, malphite sion poppy nautilus or other shit are garbage af

there are as many viable tank toplaners as any other classes like Jayce for ranged ads, or Vladimir for mages, they're not forcing the others out

chipndip19 votes

I mean, Poppy had a cool showing in the LCS just yesterday. She isn't TRASH just cause she isn't AMAZING.

Galio's also fine. Not amazing, but fine. More of a team fight pick rather than a "run around like a chicken with its head way gone in solo queue" pick, though.

TheSingularity2 votes

Tbh not tanks as a whole, just out liers like grag, sej, zac, ram, cho and nunu. (If we looking at top/jg picksa as you'd rarely see these as sup)

Most other tanks are alright or struggling.

What makes the above tanks better. Is damage. They simply deal the most stupid amount of damage for what they're meant to so.

Crush their damage and everything changes.

Ariel the Cruel6 votes

Here's some perspective. Name a time when people didn't complain about something.

Ralanr4 votes

Does "before language was formed" count?

Leetri2 votes

Nah they still complained in the form of hitting each other or throwing rocks/feces.

Mira Arya Enthe4 votes

Because tanks are viable. And are single-handedly the most miserable thing to play against, plus they make ADC's more necessary than ever. Things are literally nothing but anti fun cock-blocking, in their current iteration they do one of two things prevent you from playing the game through crowd control then die because their stats suck, or prevent you from playing the game through crowd control and kill you because their stats are strong. There are a couple exceptions such as Sion, but in truth a strong tank is never fun to play against.

Ahristocats11 votes

they make adcs necessary, meanwhile i have 75% win rate on 68 games with ADC morde

but i will admit that an anecdote means nothing Tanks being viable means you respect the fact that you need a frontline, and you pick a frontline while also picking something to destroy the frontline, this is how a moba should be

they do not force any class out, gnar jayce jax j4 are the top 4 most played toplaners in pro, i admit that it's 7.13 which means before cho, and i admit that cho needs nerfs

the truth is still there: tanks are not forcing other classes out like in s4, in fact toplaners tanks like sion nautilus poppy malphite are just garbage, shen is decent i guess there are as many viable tanks as any other classes in the toplane

Mira Arya Enthe3 votes

Correct. For the most part they are not forcing anything out of meta. They just are miserable to play against, stat checky things that award some of the most miserable metas ever. You may like them. But Riot guts them anytime strong for a reason.

Ahristocats5 votes

stat-checking?

you can prevent 1/2 of shen's damage if you dodge his E if you keep dodging sejuani's W you will reduce her damage by like 60% at least you can dodge galio Q and E you can decide to not fight maokai in a bush you can dodge zac Q E and R is useless in 1v1

which tank is exactly stat checking except Malphite who's getting a gameplay update in next patch to increase his skillcap?

Mira Arya Enthe2 votes

Almost all of them? Rammus, Malphite are just the most extreme.

Ahristocats8 votes

Rammus is only stat checking if you decide to pick a straight 1v1 fight

Rammus's damages were shifted from W and thornmail(which damage was nerfed) into passive damage, his E gives bonus attack speed for instance but he is selfslowed during his tank steroid

so if you disengage during W he can't follow you due to selfslow and then you can re-engage when his W is out

again not stat checking, and his Q can be played around by either being cancelled or forced into minions/other champions

only tank that is stat-checking is malphite, nautilus entire damage is removed if his shield is broken

Mira Arya Enthe2 votes

Hey you like tanks a lot of other people don't. Can't expect everyone to be happy with the meta you consider good. You wouldn't be good with the meta I like which is most tanks should not be viable until their rework to be as fair and well-designed a Sion and somewhat Zac. Same reason shyvana should not be a strong meta pick until she gets more work.

i'm sure everyone would expect people to be happy in a meta where every classes are viable

You wouldn't be good with the meta I like which is most tanks should not be viable until their rework to be as fair and well-designed a Sion and somewhat Zac.

first yes i would be good, second you failed to tell what is unfair with tanks, you invoked stat checking when rammus zac maokai sejuani were reworked to have counterplay, and malphite is getting work

so this is the part where i stop kidding around, because i don't like lies tanks are fair tanks are way more fair than this piece of shit twitch kog tristana vayne or any hypercarry that has for counterplay "hahhaha end the game before 20 min"

Mira Arya Enthe2 votes

Well then we agree on that I hate Champions who are time bombs

PB4UAME5 votes

So you hate all ADCs? After all, they are just time bombs until they surpass everything else in damage and can right click anyone to death.

And not tanks, because they fall the fuck off to getting stat checked (as you seem to hate) by ranged, resourceless burst, that cannot miss and takes all the difficulty of pressing in the right mouse button, and maybe pressing the "a" key with it?

I just find it funny how little the arguments you are presenting actually map on to the case you are trying to make.

General Theritt2 votes

Time bomb champions are both good and horrible at the same time, you can't just say "We can agree I hate ___", because that's really hypocritical to say, especially when I checked your played champions, and you play Shyvana , a scaling monster of a champion who is just as time-bomby as Veigar or Nasus . Time bomb champions go 1 of three ways, you either:

A) Kick the "timebomb" in before they can become useful. You play Riven, and Riven into Nasus is crippling for Nasus because he's so easily bullied by her. Even if he ignores to farm, the current lethality meta allows for Riven to snowball and start ignoring the defenses he builds to survive lane.

B) Kick the "timebomb's" team in before they can actually help the timebomb get where they need to go. If the player doesn't have a team, like Veigar, he'll usually end up dying to a random assassin appearing from nowhere and taking a fat chunk of his HP away, and most likely will die in the process of peeling off the assassin to the assassin's team.

C) You for some reason let the "timebomb" survive and continue to do what it needs, and it becomes an absolute monster because you LET it happen. All scaling champions, ADCs, Tanks, Mages, can be halted, the same is no different for timebombers. Shyvana is a prime example of this, because although she can be denied her free dragon stats, she's always going to have her monstrosity of a build path that lategame because not only annoying but frightening to deal with.

I'm not just saying this because I enjoy Nasus, because I do enjoy him, but he has REALLY big flaws in his kit that are downright laughable compared creatures like Vayne Tristana and KogMaw . Those champions should be considered less timebombs and more or less problematic champion kits, or as I can them, volatile champions, that simply will achieve their presence by existing eventually, not because they worked for it, but simply because their kit and item path allows it to happen regardless of the skill of the player. I've seen first time vaynes pull off quadras in lategame even when the opponent team made good plays because our support was good enough to peel for her even just a little and she melted the opponent team.

Saying you're not a fan of timebombs is a wide statement because you have to be specific in how you address them. Nasus , Sion , Veigar , Thresh these are all timebomb champions, because they need to fully achieve the activation (farm/scale), fuse (items and matchups), and detonation/placement (being able to enter fights and not be mowed down before they are considered problematic). Shyvana Vayne Twitch KogMaw should be considered volatile champions because it only takes one condition of them to be met before they become a monster, because their kits give them that power naturally to pop off at a moment's notice.

Penns3 votes

tanks are forcing almost every jungler out of the meta tho and basically every meta support is a tank Thresh Rakan Braum Alistar TahmKench Taric

Ahristocats10 votes

are we talking about pro or solo queue? because in soloq highest win rate supports are sona soraka janna, with a high play rate thresh and braum are definitly strong in pro

beside rakan isn't a tank, and Lulu is still banned a lot in soloq+has a high pick rate, nami is good and is being buffed, so expect her to become broken

tanks are forcing junglers out, which is why cinderhulk is being nerfed vow is also being nerfed, so this will hit tank supports
