Anyone find Vel'koz really hard to lane against?
If he hits his Q or his E you're as good as dead if he's level 6+ whether you're a tank or squishy.

boots first item, feel free to never get caught by E again.
need to dodge Q? stand inside the minion wave.
hes spamming? let him push and enjoy the free gank + dead vel koz.
trying to escape laser beam? FLASH INTO HIM, or out of range entirely, otherwise he will chase you with it.
Just kill him before he gets to upgrade his E. Problem solved
Hes pretty annoying in lane imo because he has seemingly non existent cooldowns and mana costs + his passive lasts 7 seconds and he can just auto to refresh it. Also I dont like how his ult applies passive stacks, I feel like the true damage should be a "reward" for hitting 3 spells first, not for pressing R and slowing the enemy to death.

His ult doesn't apply his passive though
Pretty sure last time I played against him he Q+ulted and at some point it still did true damage. Lolwiki also says it applies 1 stack every .7 seconds.
It does true damage on researched targets, they changed it in the mage update.
one of my top 3 most hated champions at the moment. and has been. since the rework. and even before then but now his ult is just too ridiculous.
statsitically. hes too strong. and a nerf would be a good thing
He's fine, falls off late game and is one of the squishiest champions in league throughout the entire game, his speed is super slow too, yeah he has burst but if he's past halfway or close, a gank will bring him down

lategame when he has a full build and some magic penetration his damage is just insane, I don't think he really falls off xD
Who ISNT crazy with a full build? Besides he has high cool downs on his abilities
Well I see a lot of them build
+
to take care of his cooldowns, and he's the only mage I know of that can 100-0 bruisers in a single combo, and if he gets 3 moves on your adc the true damage from his passive usually finishes them off. At least when someone plays
they need their ult to 100-0 someone squishy.
Only Annie does at full build, maybe syndra but vel'koz can completely turn a situation around because he's supposed to, he's a burts mage, unlike Leblanc who is here one second and one place another, if velkoz doesn't land his E you can turn it on him so easily
VELKOZ has a low play rate which means he has a dedicated player base. Chances are, you faced VELKOZ mains. Just let people find out how "good" he is and his play rate will increase and his win rate will decrease. You can't nerf a champion just because some people practice really hard for that champion.

Even if they aren't a main (and I can tell, they position poorly and don't use his abilities properly), I find it incredibly hard to get out of his combo, he only has to hit his q or e for him to do it anyway. I'm not asking for a nerf though, just tips how to fight/lane against him. I only posted this because his burst is just extremely high, and if you're caught in it you'll probably die unless you built 6 warmogs because of his true damage unlike other burst champions that don't do nearly as much like

Oh I see. I still don't understand how he feels hard to lane against if some of the VELKOZ's you face aren't mains. I'm guessing you don't have a lot of experience against VELKOZ since his play rate is low. To be honest, I can't give any other tip other than just dodge his skillshots because I think all you need is some more exposure to VELKOZ. I think all you need to do it get used to his skillshots. That's really I can say. Trust me it goes far because I remember back in season 4, the only Champions that were played were zed and yasuo. I had so much exposure to them that I learned to counter them with my main even though they both counter my main. There're easy to my now. I'm pretty sure you'll feel the same.
