Wukong feels boring to me nowadays and Solo Q issues

Well, this is a bit of "Help me I'm stuck in bronze 3 as of typing this because I'll get demoted from there on" sorta post. But if you want to call me a retard that needs to go kill himself, then by all means you have every right to (especially if you're a challenger player out of the over 50% dumb-as-hell playerbase I'm a part of).

I've been having a discussion with a friend of mine and at some point I saw some posts.

I guess some people feel the same way.

You see, as a retarded bronzie/wood division player that deserves to be told to die in a fire and have his laptop smashed to bits for ever touching the game, I've played MonkeyKing non-stop for a long time. In fact, he was the sole reason I wanted to play League in the first place, since as a typical Chinese American I would be savvy of Journey/Odyssey to the West (p.s. I personally hate Dragon Ball Wukong/Gokuu for being a alternate-language-converting-name-thief; SAIYAN STOLE HIS NAME).

But alas, he was fun, and I often found pleasure in diving and just blowing people up. And not to mention he's reliable for climbing ranked supposedly in the lower elos. HOWEVER, there are some things that stopped me from wanting to enjoy him nowadays.

  1. He sucks against tanks, since he's an AD caster that needs to build defensive penetration + raw AD + CDR in order to spam as many spells as possible. For sure, huge HP tanks will soak up his damage by a lot. However, Fervor of Battle + item 3153 + item 3071 synergizes with his E steroid and auto-attack-empowering Q so well that it allows him to stack both Fervor and armor shred + lethality + HP damage to destroy tanks in 1 v 1, and even blow up squishies with a quick E, auto (or a few) then Q combo with smooth speed. I personally love the Fervor of Battle + item 3153 abuse so that way, I can deal with tanks when the time comes (and which is why I don't want to pick non-on-hit champs that can have their damage be blocked by over million HP tanks like Sion).

  2. I'm having a swordsman vibe no thanks to JRPG and samurai games. Plus, everyone hates the hell out of Yasuo like they do with younger Chris Rock (the show Everybody Hates Chris) so they ban him 24/7 in bronze elo (and yes, I'm a trashuo too to quote Naece but I'm trying to improve). Also, MasterYi is a decent sub only he's not always optimal in lane, and I personally hate trying to macromanage through jungle (WHAT, HE CAN'T CARRY FROM THE EASIEST ROLE TO CARRY FROM IN THE GAME?! WHAT KIND OF RETARD IS THIS WOOD PLAYER?!)

  3. He's lackluster compared to other picks. It's no secret that MonkeyKing is a very outdated champion, with attributes that other champs can perform better in while also not having his champion identity very clear. His W is pretty much the only thing that makes him stand out as well as the fact that gbay99 makes a good point in that "For your W to work, you have to rely on your opponent being an idiot". Plus, it's because he's outdated he has a lot of hard counterpicks in lane, and even in jungle he's only decent with so many other picks being much better than him (and dueling him in the jungle is very easy due to the monsters just "beating you up", to quote scarra). And plus, me just playing him all the time will warrant the enemy to shit on me with picks such as Nasus, Renekton, Singed and the like. Sure, I've played the stupid monkey for A LONG TIME to the point where my mechanics in a 1 v 1 are great enough to outplay most champs in the laning phase upon reaching my item 3153 item spike, but seriously.

  4. Tying into the above, he's not that good of a bruiser. My friend in a chat of ours seems to make this point a bit clear since from my personal experience, tank Wukong didn't seem very optimal. I've always managed to come out on top with him in a 1 v 1, and his E and ult being his only source of AoE via E only hitting 3 targets and ult being DoT don't seem too good, especially since a retard like me can't bother to be comfortable building him tanky since he has way too much damage to pass up and the fact that he can easily be kited and cc'd (as well as being item dependent as fuck). Wukong's just somehow unknown in this current meta and sadly I'm indeed a dumbass for not maining any meta champs or any counterpicks that cover MonkeyKing, MasterYi and Yasuo's bad matchups. Plus, if Wukong falls behind, he's only just a knockup bot who has to get gold only from assists.

So....am I a dumbass for not getting out of my comfort zone just to win games better? Or is there any hope for me? I'm gonna bet it's the former since this game has no place for idiots lol.

And yes, I'm also trying to learn Renekton. SoloRenektonOnly fans can now hunt my bum down and burn me alive for being so bad with the croc. #TriggeredCrocCrew.

Wukong struggles in a lot of top matchups which sucks. I try to jg him mostly but his clear isn't the greatest and the lack of sustain leaves you low when farming the jungle. However in many featured modes like URF and Ascension he is the King of kongs

Meanwhile, people can just pick a champion like Poppy and roll over everyone.

I've spent around 2 years getting used to Wukong, and I'm unsure of who else I need to spend 2 more years on in order to have a good champ to climb with and/or learn the game well enough with. But perhaps somewhere the God of League is saying to me "I won't let you win unless you pick Annie".

Also, as said before, Wukong is an outdated champ, so no doubt he would be able to heavily abuse the benefits of those modes. His W as mentioned before again, is pretty much one of the main things that makes him stand out from other champs and he relies too heavily on it for a lot of his things.

Update:

I've actually realized why I have a high win-rate on Wukong. Compared to a champion like Yasuo, Wukong seems to have a better early-to-mid game with the proper item spikes. : P
