First of all Vlad has a 45% rate against Riven, mainly because he's not the type of champion to deal with all in aggressives.
The better picks to use against her are 
(56.76), Likely since his passive, natural 'shredder of armor on Q and jump in and duck out and R for a massive disruption allow him to trade better.
at 55.56% because she is a dumpster bringer for any kind of melee match up and her Q blind and E 'disengage' will let her control a trade and use poking measure to set up her own all in.
at 55.15% because he terrorizes melee ADs also and his R and Q blind can shut down Riven's all in pretty much all the time so a good Teemo can keep her in check and keep the lane fight to a stalemate or burst her down if she keeps hitting well placed mushrooms.
at 55.14%, Another good old annoying top laner type but has plenty of thinks like his auto blocker gimmick, his range poke and jump in stun and burst dmg, pretty much the retarded annoying counter for alot of top lanes because he is scummy in his own regard.

Anyway you can blame that on a lack of constraints on Riven and lack of REMOVING cooldown runes due to the abuse they get, where runes like Critical hit are never used, only really straight up damage, resistance, health and penetration runes alongside cooldown runes.
Its more important to learn to PUNISH a for attempting all ins then expect her to be nerfed to trash tier any time soon, since 
took forever and some SUPER CHEAP builds to get him to have any 'actual' nerfs to hit him. Just play one of the 7 champions that have a proper time melting her then have her starve to have no chance of catching up. Though if the enemy team is 'pure AD basically then learn to high stack the armor stat with some alternative build then just 1 ARMOR item.

Riven was top against a troll, so she was fed -- but so was I. The first time I saw her come out from top lane, she literally one shot me from full health. From then on, she continued to do so if I went anywhere near her -- as well as Twitch autoing me for 1200+ which was super fun.
If I was top, I would have picked a tank with hard CC.

If the enemy team had 3 AD champions and the remaining 2 have no high impactful damage then its still a good idea. Twitch is also one of the top tier ADCs too atm but he should still suffer against armor countering. Items like 
are actually good against high AD based teams especially if 2 or more of them build crit, plus the hp bonus would of helped you out since you were . Sadly a good deal of the super armor item pick ups like 
, 
and so on would probably of not served you well on some ends.
I would actually suggest to aim for the whittle down tactic with 
to help you burn up her hp and aim more for a delayed fight with her to allow your team to join in or slowly burn her with kiting harass since she had literally 'no' extra mobility items while you had a few, though a item like 
would of helped you to kite the full straight up riven damage build and aim for baiting strategies then fight her straight up.
She's an annoying champion but the main thing is your team needs to pick smart picks to manage against 'strong picks' and make sure said champion can't get into its state of being super fed.

Apocalypsic1 votesAs a Riven main I have to say unfortunately for you that laning against her or not - your kit is just woefully hardcountered by hers.
CC to stop your E, gapclose to not get kited by you, and the burst to keep you from enjoying an extended trade and getting that Q ready and empowered. Even old Vladimir could do nothing against Riven, it's just your champ in this matter.
I find one of the more annoying laners to be against is Syndra, she has extremely easy disengage against melee champs (which includes Riven) and can heavily punish you for any mistake you make. Just tossing my two cents out there for when you're considering your picks against a team with her in the future.
Eternal Torment1 votesyou just had the unfortunate fate to fight your Counter who knew what she had to do. riven vs vlad is most of the time a win for riven, vlad only shines in Extended fights and kites, riven due to her mobility can ignore the rylais and E slows from vlad and the hard dive potential will force you as a vlad Player to throw your W out for safety, leaving you defenseless for the entire W cd while riven has a less-than-4 second stun ready which she can and will land on you due to your lack of escapes.
however, riven AS A CHAMPION IN GENERAL is rather on the weakside. lemme explain why:
-she has stupidly small stats earlygame for someone who snowballs, shes one of the most fragile toplaners at lvl 1 if not the most next to gp, means a good early trade pretty much forces her to back even before the second creep wave.
-she has small basedamages with strong scalings ONLY. meaning she has no percentage damage, no high base damages for good early trades, she Needs damage items to deal damage, she unlike every other toplaner can't just Build 2 damage items and boots then go full tank and still 1v5. even her E shield scales with ad, meaning that tank items on her are utterly useless.
-very deceptive to CC. while most of her damage Comes from her passive empowered AA which can deal a stupendous amount of damage if you can reset like a god, she still Needs to proc her skills to trigger said passive aswell as to move around at all. riven without her skills has Zero damage, shut down a rivens passive by ccing her properly and you get the same result as a draven without his axes.
-very snowball reliant. riven Needs the early kills and a proper transitioning from early into midgame to even be considered useful for later on, meaning once you destroy her in the earlygame she will be able to do nothing but tickle your team assuming she doesnt roam botlane a lot with tp. shut down a riven properly and your adc is pretty much the only one that will suffer any Kinds of damage from riven.
Long story short, riven Needs to Build full damage, Play aggressive and pray for a good Outcome to win, and there are so many meta picks currently that deny her that. unfortunate for you, vlad isn't someone who can do any of those. all he has is range and sustain, and while his 3rd Q damage is high, the cooldown stops you from abusing it enough to harrass a riven away from the lane.

Once Darius has a few levels, he can literally miss his Q and still kill her in all-out.
Also, her trade windows are VERY limited because of the threat of minion aggro. Its easy to position so that minions deny her the ability to effectively fight much more so than for her to do the same against you. She's EXTREMELY vulnerable to minions.

I am surprised she took boots cuz her kit allows her is to cheese u she can have phantom dancer for more tankyness and damage and she can make u more mad this way

Ap are good only against other ap champs the only good ap champs against ad left are Syndra and reverted Malza but they will be nerfed soon with all the bitching around them
