@Riot Stashu. Read Please. Burst vs DoT
I am refering to your statement in the Cassiopeia topic, I will not talk about Cassiopeia though.
To summarize his statement: DoTs and burst are the same. If a 3s CD burst is harmful to balancing, so is a 3s DoT.
In my eyes this statement is false, allow me to explain why. 1.) DoTs don't stack. They reapply. This means that a 3s CD DoT with 3s duration won't lead to a DPS increase by CD reduction (considering the mage hits his spells). So compared to a burst spell with the same damage you loose 40% possible DPS. 2.) DoTs don'tkill low HP targets instantly. DoTs allow: 2.1 To heal back up with a pot 2.2 Get healed by a mate 2.3 Proc lifestel or spellvamp 2.4 Shoot back and also kill the player who DoTed you. 2.5 DoTs can be cleansed by QSS
There might be even more aspects which I forgot to mention. However I believe the first point alone is reasoning enough to rethink the burst&DoT comparison. Please keep this post in mind upon your next balancing actions.
