Do not make fun of me for banning Master Yi

MasterYi item 1419 item 3124 item 3153 with conqueror. If your team doesn't have a targeted hard CC spell (something you can't miss if he uses Alpha Strike), your entire team has to focus him if you don't want to all be slain. I use the numbers as my proof because the numbers in my death recap are what blow my mind. It's not the physical damage that blows my mind, it's the fucking TRUE DAMAGE!

Master Yi does 2.4% max health true damage and 101 flat true damage per auto attack I calculate Master Yi's attack speed as 7AA/2s because of his passive and RageBlade Rageblade also double procs on hit effects every other attack If Yi engages you on the double proc, he will double proc 4 times, if not he will double proc 3 times

2 seconds of Yi auto attacking you does 24% max health true damage & 1010 flat true damage If you're a 4500 health Malphite you're losing 2461 to 2670 health to a physical damage champion with 0 armor penetration or critical in 3 seconds

Keep in mind those 3 items only offer 65 bonus AD (146.8 stacked rageblade and active conqueror) on top of his 119 base AD at level 18. The percent max health true damage doesn't change, but the damage output is nightmare tier when 2 of any of the following items get added item 3072 item 3812 item 3031 item 3508 item 3026

A Yi in lane will only do 1.6% max health true damage but his item 1419 will be replaced with item 3115 item 3046 item 3087 which is still something I don't want to deal with.

So you can add MasterYi to my list of champions I rather not deal with in a fun match along with Nasus Singed

Your team has to focus a squishy melee hypercarry if they don't want to die? Call the police!

I don't even use that build in ranked. I much prefer crit with dark harvest. One-shotting squishies is hilarious.

I've never used dark harvest and I don't play Yi, those are just the 3 consistent items I see him with in my games. I normally always playing MonkeyKing item 3147 electrocute. If I'm not using electrocute, then I most likely have predator with ingenious hunter for my junglers or Olaf

Dark Harvest seems like a joke to me unless you're AFK farming as Nasus or catch a huge minion wave late game. If you don't have at least 145 - 215 soul essence (37 - 54 minions) the damage doesn't compare to the other 2.

That's from reading the tool tip, I don't know exactly how it works in game, but having to farm to use your keystone doesn't seem like my cup of tea.

Dark Harvest is definitely not a joke. It easily does 5-6k damage for me in a good game. It's not something you farm for, since the best way to stack it is by ganking.

The damage is better because it doesn't have a cooldown. Imagine a teamfight with Yi where you get lots of resets. Dark Harvest will proc on every target instead of just the first target you go on. Also, it procs on the first hit instead of needing to provide three damage sources (like with electrocute or press the attack).

I'm confused, do the stacks not reset? My thought process when I see it is that soul essence resets when you strike a champion. Can I find out how it works in practice tool?

The stacks never reset. Basically when you pick up a soul before 150 stacks, your next auto is empowered against a champion or tower as long as you auto within 20 seconds. However, after you have 150 stacks you have 300 seconds instead of 20.

Yeah you can try it out in practice.

Just tried it... very very nice! Might be the better option for my Wukong.

"If your team doesn't have a targeted hard CC spell (something you can't miss if he uses Alpha Strike)"

actually yi can still dodge those if its something that isnt a teather like morgana ulti

but the other counter play to yi that you forgot is just beating the shit out of him

yi is pretty tame before he build items. go in and pressure his camps and make it hard for him to farm either by stealing them or just killing him

the whole thing about yi is your trying to delay his power spike until your tanks have a way of slowing him down in fights OR until your carries out right kill him

If your team has no cc at all you are probably going to lose anyways, Yi or not.

Radiant Wukong1 votes

The problem isn't the CC itself, it's that it needs to be instant targeted CC from like Ryze Lissandra Lulu etc

With Yi's high movement speed and alpha strike (one of those abilities that make you untargetable) it's kind of hard to land anything if you don't have at least 2 forms of CC to toss at him.

Slow moving targeted CC like Teemo blind and Nautilus Vi ults can still be dodged with proper alpha strike timing. Untargetable works on Yi the same way it works on Fizz Elise Xayah Vladimir

I called this before the rageblade changes, I knew it would be big on yi

He's pretty strong after the recent changes

Correction: You can still miss lock-on spells with Yi, if Yi casts Alpha Strike after the enemy spell is fired and has not yet contacted with Yi. That's just how untargetability works, it makes almost everything miss as long as it hasn't connected.

If it actually hits even if Yi uses Alpha in the correct manner to dodge lock on spells, then it's a bug, which is very common in Alpha Strike and the bug is available on all untargetability spells though Yi is the worst sufferer of the bug.

Technically speaking, Yi's Alpha Strike will dodge everything with the sole exception of spells that have ALREADY affected him before goes into Alpha (basically you can't dodge a spell that's already hit), and persistent spells will carry over into Alpha if they're applied before Alpha: Such as delayed effect spells (applied before going untargetable), DoT (applied before going untargetable), or tether (applied before going untargetable). The other specific and major exceptions to all of the rules of untargetability are ALLY Soraka's ulti and Ryze's ulti, which will heal and teleport Yi respectively even if he's in Alpha.

EDIT: Instant spell will hit Yi. It's not an exception per se, it's just that they have no travel time making dodging impossible in the first place.

Yeah.

I can also see that you mean the instant CCs like the glorious Ryze W or the troll polymorph from Lulu. Yeah I don't think Yi can dodge those. The reason for that is instant spells have no travel time, it either casts or doesn't and when it casts it is already hit.

Radiant Wukong1 votes

Yeah, instant CC is necessity against certain champs. I don't care how "pro" anybody claims to be, anything with over 450 ms is hard to hit with a skill shot.

Takazaki1 votes

actually you can dodge those

the mechanic ( as i known it to be called) is disjointing

similar to tristana ( or any dash really ) CC can be negates with dash's

and although technically master yi's is a blink there is a small window of time here he hasn't alpha's but the alpha its self has already casted

getting it to work is extremely hard ( and requires god like predictions )

the end result is this

Even one source of cc is often no where near enough to deal with Yi. You need an instant cc castable outside of his Q range as well as followup chain cc to focus him afterward.

And those are ccs that are being used on the yi and not the adc coming later into the fight. Yi can carry at least to mid diamond because he abuses uncoordinated play a ridiculous amount.

SEKAI1 votes

Tbh though, if you really want Yi dead, just shove Rammus (taunt and thornmail), Udyr (stun and superior stat-check), Fiddlestick (fear and silence), Warwick (fear, suppression, and arguably stronger stat-check), or Jax (stun and superior stat-check) somewhere into the team. Yi will cry blood.

I would but I have had enough teams feed him.

Yi is beyond broken. He's my perma ban champ.

Sure, in high elo, because he's a melee autoattacker he can be shut down by a CC lock. That almost never happens consistently in low elo
