HOLY COW POO! RIOT! YOU GOT IT RIGHT!
I've been playing this game since late S2 and this is the 1st time I've ever witnessed a champ be released and the boards not be flooded with "OMG! OP! NERF NERF NERF!"
Good job on

Uh... Did you not see Xayah and Rakan? The boards was more "Are they strong? Are they weak? We don't know"

And Vel'koz and several others.
Ah I remember Syndra release. 28% winrate was hilarious.
Ah, so we have seen the other side of the spectrum.
We all hear horror stories of things like release Xin Zhao and Zyra, but you mever hear of those champs released that just can't seem to find a win on release. Only champ I remember seeing like that was Bard.
For Syndra, was it just a numbers issue, or something else entirely?
Yasuo and Azir had like double the passives in their kits that they do now.
Jhin and Taliyah were both difficult champions to play more/less (I would say Jhin is harder) so they were not OP OP OP. But Taliyah is insanely popular in competitive/
Lucian was riddled with so many bugs it was almost impossible to win a game as him when he was first released
[Meanwhile, on the other end...]
Oops, I dropped something! Mind if I let it stay for a moment?

^^
tbf, I remember it being 38%-- after looking it up, after their intial hot fix, that's what it rose to immediately afterwards from 24.92%. Geez.

Ah yeah that sounds more correct. I must have mentally combined the numbers into 28% haha.
But yeah, she was pretty darn garbage.

Xayah and Rakan both received nerfs since their release. Xayah was especially broken.
Rakan got buffs.
He got rebalanced, lost shielding power on E in exchange for more Q range
Xayah didn't get nerfs until 4 patches after release, Rakan got buffs the very next patch. Regardless, the Boards weren't screaming about them being OP or UP, and there were quite a few threads calling that out.
Regardless of time, Xayah was pretty busted.
I feel like this happens a lot. Champs come out, everyone says they suck. A week later nothing. A patch later "Ermergerd nerf plz!"
Everybody kinda forgot about kayn about a weak after his release. His assassin form needs buffs or his darkin form needs nerfs, but hes kinda balanced.
also

Bard received nerfs. Check his history.
Nope. All he's every gotten has been buffs and hotfixes. Even the 7.7 change to chimes, which in net, was a buff.
I mean, I've been playing him every chance I get. There's almost always one in my game unless he's banned. I honestly love that tho, because he's really well balanced and fun to interact with. Also, his design is just badass.
Since season 2? Certainly not.
received buffs for numerous following patches. She wasn't op until her rework, where her Q became easy to maintain.
was not at all popular.
There are more, but these are the only 2 i like.
I dont exactly remember the outpouring of hate for
either. In fact many people said he needed more punch on his Q and he got it.
Um
. For days after his release everyone was screaming for buffs, saying hes was much too weak (even tho he wasnt). Then immediately after he got buffs everyone was calling for nerfs.
Honestly the big issue with Ivern was that the AI on Daisy was not working remotely okay. Once that got fixed (for the most part), his win rate started going up about the same time. Then they overdid it and buffed him.
Ahem,
.
Balance Team: So, I noticed there is a squid in the roster. Why haven't I ever seen him before?
Release Team: Oh, he's a math major. Balanced himself. We sent a QoL change or two after his release, but he's been pretty good overall.
Balance Team: I take offense to this. No champion can be balanced without my approval!
Release Team: Well... He is. So... Ya. Should probably just take the cheap win and move on.
Balance Team: Hey, Update team! Think you can fit Vel'Koz in for the mage patch?
Release Team: ... Or not.
Update Team: Sure, We'll see if we can't do something.
<Insert mage Update>
Balance Team: He's here! The scourge has arrived for my Judgement!
... Ya...... No. Watch and learn, Scrub.

Balance Team: What just happened?
Release team: I told you. Math Major. He balances himself. (>_>)
I remember original Yorrick release, so bad that Riot had to immediately hotfix him and issue an apology for how undertuned he was.
On the plus side, Kayn is getting a small buff to his Shadow Assassin and likely will see some more tuning on the PBE, I do think he needs a bit of a QoL change and some small buffs. He does have a relatively low overall winrate right now, but that's not necessarily telling of his power level.
I remember original Yorrick release, so bad that Riot had to immediately hotfix him and issue an apology for how undertuned he was.
Darn. Someone beat me to it. (>_>)
Alas Poor Yorik. Even the release team forgot about him. XD
Taliyah release? Sub 40% win rate in 4 different roles?
That was only because people didn't know how to play her. If you broke it down I to groups people with 1-50 games had less then 40% win rate, but the people that played more then 50 averaged over 60%
Taliyah became broken after Riot hotfixed ger Q to deal 50% more dmg to minions Before that E max was better so her balance state is debatable
But E was so overtuned on release she was probably still really good
100% agreed, still true that the boards weren't screaming for nerfs though
Taliyah had more bugs than goddamn anyone in the past few years of these slow releases. She had wonky hitboxes and hard to control mechanics that just made her technical and difficult to utilize fully. They adjusted a few bugs, gave a small buff, and she then proceeded to break competitive with her destructive teamfighting power and synergies with durable mage items that made her burst not only strong, but gave her massive sticking power.
Speaking of release bugs, is Azir okay now?
I get this sense of "still pecking...for bugs"
https://i.makeagif.com/media/7-08-2015/ApW2Bk.gif
...whenever I hear his name.
"99 problems with my code on the wall; 99 problems with my code - take one down, patch it around... 297 problems with my code on the wall."
He's been pretty stable for a while now. Still a few bugs lurking in the shadows, but nothing that out-right breaks the rest of the game's functionality. . . . Any more.
What about the Ashe and Azir one where if theyre on the same team his w spawned turrets instead?
Don't remember that one. Sounds like something he'd do though.
It was around the same time as the Xerath one. https://youtu.be/MXKhutUIwkA It was acvieved by Ashe switching a file for her Q, giving the enemy permanent slows and vision of her, and azir Turret soldiers. The same exploit could be used with old fiora to make her Q her ult. Tfs aitos red cards, and a few others.
Oh, you're talking about a hack; not a bug. I don't generally pay any attention to those. (>_>)
Its not a hack, its an exploit. Exploiting Riots imperfect code by making use of bugs to get desired effects.
Ashe and Azir
Now you just reminded me of this:
I bet that position spawned at least one "turret", for sure. ^^ Just look at him! Going full Shurima in dat ashe!
Poor velkoz isn't even remembered.
Before his rework Vel'koz went over a year with only one change to his kit after his release.
An entire year with no numbers up, down, shifted, or even blinked at. He maintained an even and steady win rate without ANYTHING being changed for a damn near 24 patch cycles or more.
So yeah, no one remembers because no one needed to. he was fine once upon a time.
Bard release was pretty bad. Ivern took awhile to settle into his overpoweredness.
anyone lol?
He needs slight buffs to be honest, Shadow Assassin especially. Once he gets SLIGHT BUFFS (god don't overdo it) he will be fine. Also,
all had releases where this wasn't the case.
they did ok with his numbers and u praise them?
even when the champ can do this?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJtF9G-4q24
sadly, you need to use more of ur brain.....am i saying he is op? yes but only in the way that the move where u run thru walls, and it refreshes the buff while you do....is retarded.... he is either gonna need crap numbers to deal with how op that ability is or he is just going to be insanely broken
how exactly is this a good thing? honest question
And what if he can go outside rift?HE cant be there pernamenlty so you can still kill him with some abilities like xerath Q,Jhin R etc.
And what if he can go outside rift?HE cant be there pernamenlty so you can still kill him with some abilities like xerath Q,Jhin R etc.
did u even watch this?
and you can kill him with xerath Q, jhin R etc? LOL you better hope he cant dodge a skillshot at all.....idk about you but i dodge xerath Q more often than not...in lane with no boots....gimmie 70% MS and try hitting me....please..... and ur right he cannot be outside the map permanently, but he can be outside long enough to dodge a whole team and run past almost 2 turrets in length before he gets ported back out (look where he enters wall, then how quick he moves...note the xerath in video...then look at where he pops out)
seems broken to me, idc what his numbers look like...work on getting a non toxic/op kit and im down for any discussion.....but moving outside the map? really? refresh if you go into new wall, and 70% MS? either ur going to get insanely ahead and be murking people from insane angles or your going to be doing no damage and running through walls and im not down for that..
call me old fashion, but this seems like a ryze 2.0 in far as will be needing reworks...everything other than that move is perfectly fine in my book and hell ill even go as far as to say his numbers need to be buffed......but as long as he has this ability, no tuning will help him and he will be another S+ tier and a str8 failure at the end of the day
Kayn is fair to play and play against and have decent flaw. It's one of the few champion i would buy because he seems fun to play and balanced.
Kled was fone on release.
