Can the same not be said for volibear and mundo players?

It isn't official until Riot literally says, "We hate tanks". Until then, stop exaggerating.

They're Juggernauts though, not tanks.

Good point, he still only uses data points for Mundo/Voli.

They're buffing rek'sai though, you just gotta hold out and also Mundo will probs need a full VGU

Volibear and Mundo are both immobile, sustained-damage bruisers. Riot tends to either ignore these champions, destroy them (and/or their itemization) with nerfs, or buff everyone else to the point where they just feel lousy to play. Their logic is that these champions are boring to watch, so they don't go to any efforts to make them viable for competitive, and if they do see play then they will undoubtedly be nerfed hard.

They are also probably some of the most frustrating kind of champion to fight because there's very little you can do to play around them when ahead.

At least you can dodge Darius's Q.

I've always found Darius much more difficult to deal with than Mundo and Voli, especially new Darius with his Q kiting. Then again, I play Trundle, so they've always had to be ahead in order to pose a real threat to me. Grievous wounds really hurts their playstyle as well.

Eh, I find Mundo and Volibear more difficult because you don't notice how low you are when trying to kill them until it's too late.

Though I don't really have any kill potential against them as a regular tank.

Voli falls off late game IMO, even when he's strong, and literally everyone has something in their kit to help them kill Mundo these days. I tip my hat to anyone that still plays Mundo in today's LoL. He's pretty much 100% dependent on defensive itemization and scaling being good in order to function.
