Does this rough analysis of the Support resource struggle make sense?

Carry roles can generally depend on a steady resource from minions and jg camps.

Supports depend on a mastery, gold gen item and mostly assists.

Aside from the occasional Support popping off, they can basically be placed in to two categories: relevant, and not relevant.

To put it simply it is much harder for a Support to be relevant when behind compared to a carry role.

I feel like this is the biggest issue with the role and should be a focus for future development.

Yes, this IS true. I use to be a support main when i started at the start of season 5 and climbed my way to B3(sucked back then, don't judge) with Braum. But when i feel behind i was BEHIND and useless, the main problem with supports are: A) your ADC is a boosted animal and doesn't do ANYTHING so you just lose. B) Your jg feeds bot then the ADC doesn't do much vs the more fed enemy ADC and you just lose. or, C) You get camped because your the only ones doing anything.

You NEED those assists for the gold because you need 800 for a item 2049 1st off then you need to buy A LOT of item 2055 because your ADC NEVER buys them and on top of that you need to upgrade your support item + item 3117. Lets say your playing Morgana and your support you need to buy item 2049/item 3117/item 3098 so that's 2,550 gold for an extra 150 health, 15 AP, 2 GP per 10, 75% mana regen and 115 extra move speed out of combat.(if you are going for a frost fang) And THEN and ONLY then can you work on ACTUAL items. But with 2,550 gold Morgana MID can get a item 1052/item 3108/item 3802 and item 1001, that gives: 75 AP, 10% CDR, 300 mana, and 25 move speed. So morg mid gets better stats, can get the gold faster and easier AND doesn't have to take up 2/3 item slots for support stuff. But on top of that all lets not forget about your role. You're support, your JOB is to protect the ADCarry. But if your Ezreal E's INTO the other team, how the FUCK do you protect him? If you don't have an okay ADCarry, you have to baby sit him TO much and he will die then your not doing anything and you just fall behind. That's why i moved off of support and INTO ADCarry so i can stop this. But if i duo bot with a friend i enjoy support, but w/o ok communication and a good ADC i HATE support.

yes it is. even when not behind the supp is irelevant yet blamed for losing nonstop becuase they didnt pick a certain supp or and seem to think all supp have infinite peels and infinite heals regardless if they dont. But relic shield has the least gold income in the game period.... out side of lane phase its useless becuase good luck neve rusing your stacks. Mean while ancient coin and frost queens stays relevant through out the whole game. they should lower the max stacks to say 2 or 3 or only holding 2 regardless but rasise the passive to 4

I feel like Relic, or at least FotM/Sighstone mashup, should automatically execute minions in the execution range (without AAing them that is). At least this would let the support casually walk into a lane with an ally in it, execute the mage minions in a flash and move on to other stuff.

It's not like it would be a big advantage when your ally is just gonna one shot the wave by himself otherwise anyway.

Thresh is one of thos supports that is literally useless on a losing team. He doesnt really do real damage. what he does is sets up for kills. thats it. if your team cant kill, you could be the God of all Threshs and you end up sitting there like... Hello Darkness My Old Friend....

Janna can be 0/10 and still be as useful as an 0/0 Janna tho..

You're just playing lots of tank/burst, try ones like Nami, Lulu, Karma and Janna (but not Soraka or Sona)

I've said it many times : the only thing keeping supports back is the fact that they get the least amount of experience in the game. Supports are supposed to be these utility-scaling monsters, but not only do they not get as much gold (which is fair, otherwise people would just put w/e strong mages and scale), they also get no levels to make their utility stronger, which ironically means more often then not they have to rely on items (that they struggle to buy) to cover that missing utility usually gained from levels.

Yeah I'd say it has more to do with the utility they bring. Like Blitz and Nami, they have sooo much pick and cc power than even if their items are behind, if their team has damage, they will be fine.
