Draven mains I need tips

I'm having some problems with draven that I can't seem to figure out

1. If I am attacking and kiting backwards and want to move forward again, what do I do with the axes? Do I just make them drop? It seems impossible for me to sharply change directions while catching axes, especially with high attack speed

2. Similar situation to the top, how do you attack dragon or baron while catching axes? As soon as I outrange it because of my axes I can't seem to change directions unless I stop attacking for a second.
