Unless you're high elo, ignore meta and find what works for you

I get frequently QQd at for picking Sivir who is regarded as weak but in pre-season and so far in S8 my winrate is hovering around 80%.

Meanwhile my Ezreal winrate in pre-season and S8 is somewhere around 40%.

I'm sure that your win rate is wholly because you are choosing the weakest ADC in the game. Yeah. That is really logical.

Don't you think that MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, your win rate is because of the other NINE PEOPLE IN THE GAME?

jesus christ, the ego that people have in this game is incredible. you are literally one-tenth of any game, and you think it's because of your Sivir pick that you have 80% win rate? One. Tenth.

Yes. That's exactly what I'm saying. I'm comfortable on the champ and I know how to carry on it.

Edit: You're very sensitive. Are you ok?

you dont just get 80% winrate from doing fuck all in the main carry position thats like saying "he carried us but he played a non-meta champ so lets give the credit to the feeding person whos playing meta"

Yep. People don't understand that in order for the meta to apply, people have to know how to play the champ.

Um, the reason why Ezreal and Vayne are meta is because they are legitimately overpowered. Look at the patch notes for the next patch, guess who's getting nerfed, yep, thats right

Ezreal and Vayne

like, go ahead and be an Ivern main, yeah, you will have games where you completely stomp, sure. I recently played a game on my alt where I went soraka mid with phase rush and deliberately the worst possible runes, and we won. i actually beat Swain mid, i shit you not; I only won by one kill, but still, I beat him, I won my mid lane.

That doesn't mean soraka mid with Phase Rush is a good thing. It also doesn't mean that Ivern is good just because you stomp some games with him. He's actually terrible, I've played at least a hundred games with Ivern and it's really sad, he has the most unique and fun kit I know of, but he's so weak it's painful to play him. I have to work so much harder to accomplish so much less. Meta exists for a reason.

This^^

Meta is fine, but when its meta because almost nothing is close to its power is not healthy for the game. Right now there is such a large strength variance in champs, that off-meta right now feels like beating your head against a wall.

This thread so much.

Most of the time if you play what you're comfortable with, regardless of meta, you'd win. Don't bother trying to learn something that you can't play for shit, wonder why you can't win, despite that being meta. If whatever you find comfortable is the meta, no one's stopping you though.

Yes, the emphasis on the low elo part. There's a reason people legit think Jhin is "strong" mainly because they're silver and below.

Fairly sure this also applies to high elo.

If you can make Amumu work for you in challenger at a 62% win rate over 50 games then play amumu in challenger.

Kassadin/Darius aren't really in the meta but they both work great for me.

Don't ignore the meta, take it into consideration, but definitely prioritize shit you're good at.

Two examples for me:

Full AP Lux support: She is a low-elo curbstomper once mastered and when picked intelligently. She is terrible in high elo where she can't roam and ward safely (immobile mage). I had a diamond support teach me this the hard way.

Full Support Thresh: If he has a high winrate in plat, that doesn't mean squat for low elo players. Nada. Hard champion. And even if you become great at him- I can not stress how unreliable your team is around the lantern.

Choose what's working for your situation, and what you enjoy!

Agree. Climbed to Gold playing MF and my duo Braum in the Ardent meta, and crit MF, not lethality. I swear to god that killing in lane the enchanters+hipercarrys to snowball the game was funny as hell.
