Damage is ridiculously high right now!
When a TANK can 100-0 you, and when ADCs can 100-0 a tank in 2 secs, you know there's a problem!!!

Get. Rid. Of. Keystones. Give us the old mastery system back - y'know, the one that didn't give outrageous power to champions? It doesn't matter how "boring" they were, at least they didn't break the balance of the game...
I think the concept of keystones is great and they can still exist.. they just need to be drastically reduced in power. I'd probably leave all the tank ones alone and half the effectiveness of all the damage keystones across the board.
Reduced to what extent? Either they're strong or useless. I don't believe there is a safe point to leave them at. Right now Fervor of battle, thunderlord's and grasp of the undying are incredibly powerful either immedietly or more so over time. If you were to reduce them to say, 1/10 of what they are now everyone would just bitch about it instead of accepting it as a good solution. We either need to make them dumpster level, or just revert the mastery system.
IMO, Mastery should be adding flavor.
But RIOT focused masteries into Keystones that add a lot of power. They moved away from a masteries give flavor to a masteries give power paradigm. And it's horrible.
Well, the Keystones should have a lot of power, but that means champs need to have considerably less damage without the damage oriented keystones. Increasing base health across the board would have a good effect.
Also the keystones need to more distinct. Right now it feels like there's almost always one specific keystone that amplifies the standard playstyle damage from your champion. auto attack a lot? fervor. burst? thunderlords. sustained damage mage? deathfire touch. Laning tank? grasp of the undying. Jungle tank? strenght of the ages. Support with shields or heals? windspeakers blessing. support tank? bond of stone.
That 3% of max health too powerful
it also heals you as well every 4 seconds. you should not underestimate this mastery.
its not that strong though
i need 16k+ health to make it as powerfull as fervor
so im sticking with fervor over grasp on my tanks
You're ignoring the fact that fervor needs 10 stacks...
Isnt it 8 now?
its 8 and you can stack it in like 1-2 seconds anyway since melee's get double stacks
They should make it 14 stacks. And instead of making it stack faster for melee they should just increase the damage per stack.
You're ignoring the fact that fervor needs 10 stacks...
its 8 stacks, and melee counts for 2 stacks per hit so any melee gets the full 8 stacks in just 4 hits. everyone 8 hits tho, which is not a problem once u get attack speed.
to put it in perspective,
is doing an extra 112 damage after hitting 4 times. and this is not taking into account AA resetting. you can get 8 stacks on certain champs near instantly, especially if you get
to be fair tho that item was nerfed and no one buys it anymore.
Nah, the old mastery system was boring af. Everyone ran 21/9/0 with support being virtually the only exception. Riot needs to buff the fuck out of the tank tree and nerf shit like fervor. That would solve most of the problems.
I'd rather have a "boring" tree than one that adds insane free power to the game. It wasn't broken, therefore it shouldn't have been "fixed."
It was broken though. There was 0 flexibility and it was boring. That's kinda the definition of broken.
It appears you don't know the definition of broken after all. That certainly doesn't sound broken to me at all.
Riot defines broken as anything that is bad for game health. A system that is 100% static and boring (boring being the key word here) is broken by that definition. Boring =/= healthy in a game.
adds insane free power to the game
It's not strictly speaking "free" power/damage. There are trade offs. You can't get the same combination of free damage and tank stats you used to with 21/9/0. The problem is, the trade off is INCREDIBLY worth it if you run something like fervor. It just needs to be rebalanced to make that tank tree more relevant (and not just the keystones, but the defensive bonuses at higher levels) and the offensive keystones (most notably fervor) need to be brought back in line.
i just wish we would have useful defensive keystones in the resolve tree.
strength of the ages is only realiable on junglers. in lane the mastery is incrededibly dependent on winning your lane. if the enemy zones you from cannon minions youre basically fucked and dont have a keystone. its the main reason for me why im not picking the mastery. you actually have to get the last hit on the cannon to get the extra health. and thats more unreliable in lane than for a jungler to just clear a camp for the stack.
and bond of stone is only really useful in duo lanes.
that leaves 1 single keystone for lane fighters and tanks. and thats a damage keystone. also, most of the masteries towards those keystones are downright shit.
they removed all the important defensive masteries from last seasons, like 10% crit damage reduction, 4% damage reduction against aoe abilities, extra resistances, 10% adaptive armor, 10% bonus resistances, and 4% general damage reduction without the self damage component attached, aswell as % health bonus from veteran scars.
defense wise the mastery tree this season is a gigantic pile of shit and the removal of almost all scaling defensive masteries left a giant hole. they were either replaced by damage or not at all.
its no surprise that damage this season is so high when there is no counterweight to all the amazing offensive masteries that increase damage by a % dealt, or fervor of battle that grants massive on hit damage.
basically what needs to happen is, we need an actual defensive tree instead of another utility/damage tree with some base health regen sprinkled in.
When a TANK can 100-0 you
This is situationally OK, because you haven't defined a length of time or who constitutes a tank. If you're a squishy an a Naut some AAs you for 10 seconds straight you're probably going to die, given your very loose definition this could still be a 100-0.
More realistically there are tanks who actually have a threat of killing squishies fairly fast. It's a part of some tanks kits to have respectable damage, Sejuani and Amumu would be the two best examples of this. This is why it's important to define what a tank is which I think most people including Riot have generally failed at. A Sejuani 100-0 your ADC over 3-4 seconds while uncontested is kind of OK, an Leona doing the same thing is an entirely different story and yet they are both Vanguards according to Riot.
This is mostly due to the keystones but also due to the new items introduced. They all g ive damage.
If an adc can 100-0 a tank in 2 seconds either he is trying to fight a fight he shouldn't be in, or he isn't building properly.
Or you got caught inside of something like a MF ult you weren't expecting or got cc stuck in. There are ghings in the game that can kill a tank super quick that aren't always the easiest to dodge. Making a blanket statement that the tanks just F'ed up is kinda unfair.
Dafuq? Learn some positioning
Being a tank doesn't excuse you for playing poorly
Shit happens some times you know. Maybe your the only form of initiate a team has. Maybe you just got flash stunned by an annie from fow. Maybe you caught a bad stun from veigar. No person can be perfect all the time.
Heck even the best players in Lcs can get caught. I doubt any of them have 0 deaths over their career.
Just saying git gud doesn't acknowledge the massive number of ways you can get screwed in a video game based around playing with other people. Maybe if this was some 1 player playformer where everything is gaurenteed to play out how it is programmed I might agree but it isn't. It is potentially a 1v9 chaos engine that is made less chaotic via communications and having sight on an enemy 100% of the time (which is impossible)
True, but these are rather specific circumstances which doesn't constitute that damage in total is too much.
(Also, if you get locked down by CC and focused while you're NOT trying to fight without your team then your doing part of your job as a tank, and stopping that damage and CC from being shot at your adc or mid laner.)
or the enemy is playing vayne or kog maw
If an ADC can 100-0 you, while they're fed I think that is fine. But a losing Lucian with 2 items can delete you with one spell....and that is wrong.
Good thing that isn't possible
I have no idea why you got downvoted. I've never seen a Lucian kill anybody with one spell unless you're just standing in his ult and tanking every shot. Then he deserves to kill you lmao.
Lucian gets kills based off of his spell rotations. If he legit uses one spell to kill you then you're doing something wrong.

Lucian? lul
Since when has vayne been relevant this season tbh..

since when has Lucian since he got nerfed into the ground a while ago?
Lucian will always be relevant. Nerfed into the ground is such an over statement.
A good Lucian in Solo Queue can carry games easily because of his good early game, damage, and good mobility.
Finally very sensible thread.
I can assure you that person was not a tank. If they were a true tank than they must have snowballed hard. If you are dying in 2 seconds as a tank then there is a high chance something is wrong with your itemization, but otherwise yes. Damage is too high from keystone masteries.
Or you went in 1vs5. Even a tank does not survive the whole enemy team's focus for long (nor should he do).
Basically tank ekko but he also has 3 lives with GA
@marshbouy, the 2 seconds thing is a figure of speech.
a couple of games ago I was playing
(My main) and I was 4-0-0 and then i decided oh yeah malphite is 1-1-0 I can 1v1 him ezpz gimme kill... Nope I almost fucking died I had to run this is ridiculous how some champion can build FULL TANK yet do more damage than someone with

Maybe you missed the part where you don't do much damage to malphite with his (up to) 25% armor steroid and his ability to CC you and reduce your attack speed, and also missed the part where high base damage hurt when you have literally no defenses at all. smh

was it me you were fighting? yeah with enough defense on malphite I can walk through wukong's ult while under his turret and kill him.
Was not me and it was not under any turret lol it was in the river.
I discussed this in a similar thread. The main reason dmg is so damn high this season for all champions is because riot made the keystone masteries too damn strong. Certain champions have been popping off so hard this season because of their insane synergy with these keystone masteries.
another thing not to forget is how strong fire dragon is. 16-24% extra damage for the entire team is fucking broken. no ifs ands or buts about it.
It isn't entirely the same as 16-24% extra damage as fire drakes don't increase base damage on abilities and effects such as Sheen
dude only vets can remeber the good old time when dmg across the board was not that stupid lvl high. new players could never point out what OP pointing out in this post.
I don't know man my last game where I played Mundo I pre-emptively everytime destroyed Ashe or completely zoned her from the fight because she knew she'd get absolutely wrecked if she got too close. She most definitely didn't 100-0 me in 2 seconds
I was far from useless despite playing
and I even ended up with a score of 8/0/3 making me borderline unstoppable in the mid game. Unfortunately my team didn't do so well since
was pretty much being curb stomped by a
so I did my best to make sure that whenever she got a kill I would make it 1 for 1.
also got fed early on which made it hard so the game dragged out, luckily we had a
who scales really well late game and I figured so long as I can control the
we'll win the game.
My build:

It took their whole team to focus me down, I could still easily win a 1v1 with any of the enemy team although Riven alone would force me to ult to win that trade.
you see, you built full tank, and still managed to destroy ashe. and the 2 second thing, is a figure of speech!
Itemize please.
