Why are series still so blatantly stacked against you ?

Every time I go into series, I'm just waiting to hear "an ally has been slain" over and over again. And guess what, I never get disappointed. I mean, we know they want us to keep grinding and play their fucking game as long as possible, but I would be embarrassed to have a system that puts my d5 top laner against a d1 top laner. Who do you think would win ? It wasn't even close and we lost the game. It's wasn't even enjoyable to play that game and then after you check the discrepancy of d5-d1 and you go 'oh yeah, I'm in series, I need to get buttfucked.' We had a pretty normal team of d4-d3's and then a d5 top and the system gives my d4 and d3 enemies a d1 top. Doesn't make any fucking sense. I'm just tired of those retarded games.

I don't really try (as in grind) in ranked...I just decided to climb to gold last season for the lolz. I'd put myself around a mid gold-low plat skill level, but when my series to Gold puts up my team of three silver 2's or 1's against a team of gold 2's with a couple of plats sprinkled in...it just feels bad

Last season I did the same. I got placed silver 1 and played just enough to get gold 5 for the skin.

I climbed from S5 -> G5 in the last week(ish) of the season just for the border...tbh I've failed my series into gold 2x now though so like, kms

I have the opposite experience- I almost always win my series the first try these days, but then lose each game after succeeding, ultimately being demoted in the long run.

Only to hit my series, win and be promoted and start the cycle anew...

Ye, I recently even skipped G2, only had great games with great teams before that, fun to play, everybody kinda climbing, having a positive winrate etc. Now I got 3 games with a double autofill botlane (guess who lost lane), people who were D5 last season and now are mysteriously hard stuck in P5 with a negative winrate and all stuff like that. I bet I'll soon have a winstreak with great people again, just to wait for my next frustrating lose streak ._.

Because riot doesn't want you to get promoted (;

It does feel like I'll go on a hot streak win 6 games, get into my series and get an afk. Or a jerk. I've never completed a series without seeing something bad happen.

yeah during promos most of the time enemy team has a higher ranked players

Yesterday I had a game similar to this with the same issue but not in my series. Im in gold 3, I have pretty high mmr currently and I've been playing with a lot of g4-p4 players but in that game I got a plat 2 mid laner on my team. I even checked the plat 2 and he had decent mmr as well. Makes no sense how he would end up in this game. I've also been playing with people who were diamond last season (plat currently) and ive only been playing this game for a year. Something certainly isn't right with the match making...

Because you have to win 2 out of 3, it seems like an uphill battle. Even assuming you get good matchmaking those games, you're still expected to fail 50% of your promos because it's just as likely to go 2-1 as it is to go 1-2. Add on the fact that you have to win a game to get to 100 LP and start a promos, and you see that you have to win 3 out of 4 games in a row. You just have to accept that promos is a big challenge that's gonna take 2 or 3 tries.

You are handicapped in terms of MMR in promo matches, the opposing team is supppsed to be tougher than usual. Combine this with people just being general douchebags and that's why the promo handicap is so difficult.

Is there a rioter talking about this actually being a feature? It doesn't sound very fair and I've never heard of it before.

It was mentioned when the promo system was introduced way back when. The collective MMR of the opposing team in promo matches is always higher unless both teams have players participating in promos in which case a more standard algorithm applies.

Negativity bias.

Statistically, you have about a 50% chance to win any given promo series as there are 6 possible outcomes to them.

As for the idea that you need to win a game to get into promos so you actually need to win 3 out of 4: technically true, but it changes nothing. There's still only 6 possible outcomes to a promo series in that instance.

It might have to do with the time of day when you play League. Dong Huap explained it pretty well in his video, and I can agree. I went from playing in the afternoon to 1-4 am and my match quality went from fair to absolute shit fests.

Hey in my d1 promos i got a challenger toplaner he was around 500lp at the time and the enemy was a d3 darius player. My toplane got Fiora and he procced to lose lane 1-5 against the d3 player and then just walk around dying everywhere. talk about promos not beeing cancer. And i had people who were d5 play vs me and my master premade when they were in promo ofc they got manhandled and lost their promos. Quality matchmaking and bronzes cry about playing vs gold5 players when they are like silver 2 which is the same exact thing. Try laning a fkn challenger when you are high diamond its like 600lp difference ( 1 div 100 lp )

I actually rather face challenger laners than keep dealing with master/challie junglers on Graves every time I play at 4 am tbh.

Most laners don't know how to respect jungle power spikes, so it can get pretty stupid.

Kid you not, on my Silver 5 promos I had a 36% winrate Shaco/Tahm player who held the team hostage after getting autofilled to support, going Nidalee. He didn't even have 11 games played the whole season and they place him in my promos? Why? Someone on my team dodged after I gave the op.gg so thank god, but that was sheerly bad luck. Next game I smashed the enemy.

I think the issue in general is that the queue isn't picky at all for who it gets on your team. I remember being 0 LP on Silver V and went into a loss streak into Bronze 1 in past seasons PURELY because my teams were garbage. I climbed out eventually with an almost flawless streak into silver 3 whenever promos were concerned. Riot really needs to make the starting MMR lower for people who haven't played past 20 games in ranked.

You wonder why, but actually you know the answer.

Seems that way to me also. Every time I end up in promos for the first go, half the team are feeders or have the map awareness of Christopher fucking Columbus.

Second go, it seems to be better.

Riot want you to EARN that promotion. 1v9 style. (I know the pain :/)

Any time you are on win streak you get matched with teammates that are on losing streaks to balance out the game which is hands down the worst matchmaking system ever.
