Improving Wukong's Decoy

Radiant Wukong··1 votes·418 views

Step 1 - increase Wukong decoy duration and accompanying invisibility to 5 seconds

Step 2 - increase cool down

Step 3 - remove all damage from decoy, keep all of Wukong's health and resistances.

Step 4 - make it fully controllable (movement and abilities, minus the W of course and won't do any damage) but casting ult with the decoy will still cause the knockup.

Update: Actual Wukong can be revealed prematurely if decoy is destroyed.

New Update: Decoy/invisibility increased to 2 seconds from 1.5 with a movement speed boost on activation that lasts the duration. Lastly, it should deal physical damage. Wukong's decoy is actually a clone that's still holding a 17550 pound staff that it spin slaps you with.

That's a bit too much power in a basic ability. Unless you want its cooldown to be 30 seconds or so. Even then, 5 second invis every 30 second on a champ like wu who is pretty good at nuking 1 target but also influential in teamfights. It's like shaco but better in teamfights.

It's more like LeBlanc because it does absolutely no damage, it's purely there to act as a decoy.

A 15 second CD is more than enough and the CD wouldn't start until the decoy expires. Also, if the decoy is killed (instantly obliterated the second the ability is cast), the actual Wukong will be revealed.

As it stands now, Wukong's Decoy is trash and only low elo people are fooled by it. When the only other psychological effect you have on your enemy is to press "S" and stand there like a confused monkey, that's an issue.

But currently, Wukong's W does so little damage that it might as well not do any, so really that isn't a fair comparison at all.

the 20 and change dmg it currently does doesn't really adequately make up for all the things you are making it do.

5 seconds for a wukong to run or jump on your face is a bit much even if you can destroy the decoy early. It does need changes I can agree with that, ever since the changes to stealth mechanics if you get hit by an aoe the little phantom thing pops up and tells your enemy pretty much where you are and that makes a short stealth less impactful.

So, does it need changes? Sure. These changes? I'm not so sure.

Also, leblanc isn't stealthed for the full duration of her clone, not the best comparison.

So a mix of Shaco/LeBlanc, 2 champions with high mobility, something Wukong doesn't have. At the very least, Kong should receive a ms boost upon using decoy.

ms boost sounds fantastic for him, gives him and a slight increase in duration (0.5 sec) So that he can do more with it going into a fight or out of it or jukeing. It being able to replicate his ult knockup isn't that bad of an idea either, it could make it harder to chase him or gank him, but Wu would be burning an ult cd defensively. Could also make the decoy's knockup a smaller duration so that that functionality is more used for defense and less for turning but that option would be there for some situations.

The clone has it's own CD that doesn't effect Wukong's CD, guess I should have noted that, but I updated it again.

so doom bot wukong just no damage

Seems a bit over the top

I'd rather just see it stun if a certain condition is met - either it taking a certain amount of damage (or hits) or if the enemy is afflicted with Crushing Blow.

It's only a half second increase and a needed ms boost, 1.5 or 2 seconds isn't long enough to cover the necessary distance when against certain champions/compositions without a movement speed boost. A fairly common lane opponent to support this would be Swain/Ryze.

I also think the decoy should deal physical damage instead of magic. You're getting slapped in the mouth with a spinning motion of a 10k pound staff not hit with a sparkling orb. But for compensation of the longer duration and movement speed, they can completely get rid of the damage for all I care.

Idk if other Wu players would agree with removing the damage though; are there other options?

Removal of the damage not only slows his Jg clear, but may also reduce the average cs of Wukongs in losing lanes. It also reduces his waveclear; something he has little of right now.

I have waveclear items in all my builds, rather it be sunfire, thornmail or tiamat. Waveclear is never an issue.

LostFr0st1 votes

As does almost every Wukong. However, where your nerf would make the most difference is early. I don't think he needs early nerfs, especially for jungle but also top. If the wave isn't trimmed enough his trades will be into more minions, which means he'll get less good trade opportunities, which means less kill opportunities and so on.

That's where the ms boost comes into play. You'd take significantly less retaliation after using decoy to retreat from a Swain, Gnar, Ryze.

LostFr0st1 votes

Yes, I realize it would add power to those cases, but what about the case where a Wu player goes in to cs, lowers them and then decoys away, with the aoe clearing a couple more cs as it goes off. There's also the case of reduced proccing of item 1039 's Tooth passive? Making him weaker where he's weak.

Not only that, increased MS would make Wukong more heavily counter the champs he is good into. Making success cases more successful.

Or... it gets changed to physical damage. Wukong is weak against enough matchups to get an all around buff to his decoy without touching his kit.

I wouldn't give it any bonus damage or scaling, it'd just = his attack damage.

LostFr0st1 votes

In all likelyhood it'll become physical damage during the diver update. That scaling is from a bygone time.
