Did You Know There are Other Drakes BESIDES Infernal?

Woodakoodashooda··29 votes·12,591 views

Because it feels like my allies completely forget that dragon even exists unless it's mother fucking Charizard!

Then it's, "We need that drake, it's OP! OP! Get it!"

But if it's ANYTHING else, it goes completely ignored unless I'm the one jungling.

What advantages are there to the other drakes?

Cloud: Roaming speed! You can get anywhere in a minimal amount of time or GTO if you see incoming baddies that you can't handle. 2 or 3 of these babies and your entire team becomes an unstoppable split pushing force!

Mountain: Objectives made all the easier with this thing. 2-3 of these and you'll forget that you even have minions because you won't need them to demolish turrets! Oh, and they also make killing monsters like Drakes and Baron and Rift easy!

Ocean: Out of combat regen. 2-3 of these grants everyone the same passives as Garen and Mundo, PLUS resource regeneration! If you're whining about being out sustained by these champs but do nothing to help secure ocean drakes when available then you've only yourself to blame for what happens next.

First drake being Ocean is a godsend as anyone. Although it's kinda useless as the game goes on, it's just a ton of help early on.

Cloud is honestly one of the most powerful in the game, especially when you have slow champions, who's weakness is being kited or being slow.

Mountain...has power. Not as much as the others.

Infernal is just the most noticeable strength. It's the flashier one that causes BIG DAMAGE PLAYZ, while running faster isn't as noticeable.

Mountain's one of the strongest, if you have a mage or an ADC alone with a tower they do ridiculously high damage to it. Just played a game as lux, we took 3 mountain drakes and melted towers every time we were alone with them.

Spoofghoul4 votes

Mountain is the weakest though

It's main strength imho is for killing baron & elder fast

Towers are already made out of paper so you don't really need it for that Fire drake also gives you more damage vs all objectives :D

Ocean is a bit underrated, the staying power is really good early/midgame but also very useful late game for mages or tanks that didn't build warmogs

I would argue that cloud is the strongest dragon of all played against enemy that had 2 of them, i could not for the life of me get close to their carry's unless i had flash and they would still outwalk me after anyways it's borderline op

Ocean isn't useless as the game goes on, its effects are simply felt less, but having multiple ocean drakes late game means that if you win a close fight you can turn and take objectives like baron because you heal up pretty nicely without realizing it

mountain - my god do most people below diamond underestimate mountain drakes. If you have a fast objective taking team and you get 2-3 mountain drakes, then you can take towers/baron in a matter of a couple seconds. (obviously less time for towers, which are made of wet toilet paper anyways)

cloud - I really like it, but it is the worst. But being able to outrotate the enemy team is never a bad thing

Useless as the game goes on... As a split pusher this doesnt compute. get ganked win and dont have to reacall because ocean drake exists and can endlessy spam spells to push the wave cause ocean drake. not everyone is a mage or adc some of us have mana problems.

Of course there's another drake, how else would I double my triple infernal without Elder? Duh.

Was almost 100% sure you were in bronze elo, because only there you'd see stuff like this. It's just the mindset; I see free damage, I press like.

Personally, I enjoy Cloud Drake the most overall. There are situations where Mountain is extremely strong if I know I can get 2 of them or something and we can push fast or take down Baron fast. I like early Oceans and I like Infernals especially seeing how I play carry champions, so the extra AD/AP is really important.

But Clouds are the best because they grant MS. I've stated quite numerous times how I believe MS is the most important stat to try and increase. Especially as a jungler, whose job involves a lot of running around the map, invading etc, taking the runes Celerity and Waterwalking is extremely important. Adding even just 1 Cloud drake is a good boost.

Honestly, I loved that update where they made it so that it gives MS while in combat, tripling when out of combat.

I agree. Cloud is my favorite because MS is cool.

Most people gravitate toward Infernal because you usually see people running these weird Fighter top/assassin jungle/burst mage/adc/damage support but yeah, I do agree that people often just ignore the other drakes.

Double mountain makes baron melt. (inb4 "baron always melts he so weak haHA")

double mountain is good, when you can get the opportunity to use it.

infernal drake is just baseline always good. it increases damage against minions, monsters, champions and objectives. its just a boon in every situation, while the other buffs can be kindof useful but only in specific scenarios.

well, except air drake now too. that thing got a whole lot stronger since they gave it in combat movespeed.

ModCaptainMårvelous2 votes

That's a good point as well.

Maybe have it tuned so that Infernal only procs after getting into combat with an enemy champion so that you can't poke/clear waves with enhanced AD/AP and further cement it as the assassin/fighting drake rather than "More dps for you"

makes sense.

why is this post spreading blatant lies. if the other drakes give stats too, why does my team only respond to grouping pings when its fire???? fake post

I always felt like ocean was over powered as fuck early game, it will literally make all the difference early game especially in toplane. More than one Mountain drake per team will help you get objectives so much faster, especially Baron toilet paper Nashor. I don't know about cloud drakes though, they are just nice to have tbh.

BUT THEY ALL MATTER late game, if your team somehow manages to hold off till 35min or cannot end till 35min, these drakes help a shit ton with elder drake buff.

My personal favorite to take is Cloud. Extra MS is always great.

as a Talon player I agree.

I can't think of any champion who wouldn't benefit from the extra MS tbh. I love taking it as Nunu so I can use Blood Boil to become Barry Allen

TeCoolMage3 votes

Ppl really underestimate the power of ocean drake because they don't know how to use it.

No one ever backs off from an engage even if they're 3 ocean drakes and win by default unless they die. Instead they either ace the enemy team, or get aced when they could've just disengaged and pushed/taken an objective while ocean heals the, and restores mana

infernal is the most important to keep away from your enemies tho

Well Water drake gives healing, infernal is damage, earth drake is more damage vs towers and wind drake is movement speed

Pretty sure turrets become immune to true damage when there's no minions or Herald in their range.

I have to agree there, more or less. While Cloud and Mountain's effects are harder to notice consistently unless you have a bunch of them, they are still helpful as theyre a team wide permanent buff nonetheless.

I actually prefer Ocean Drake a lot of the times. It basically forces your laner to treat you like Garen, since it's not out of combat regen, its when they hit you last. If you get a bunch of them for late game, you can siege WAY better, since theyll probably be stuck under their base towers trying to fend you off, and not trading with you, so youll recover tons of HP. Even after teamfights, it allows you to go do other objectives since youll regen anywhere from a third to half your health by the time you get to the next objective.

Cloud can be pretty good once you get at least 2 of them but every bit of movespeed helps for roaming, getting back to lane, etc. Its nice if youre running away from someone who cant chase well, since itll kick in and youll get a healthy dose of speed to secure your escape without having to burn flash

But Charizard is not a dragon type.

SammyDayspring1 votes

Most players can't appreciate the game unless they are doing huge, obvious damage. They will never appreciate how many times an Ocean dragon will regen them just enough to save their life, or how the extra speed boost from Cloud nets them extra kills. It's a problem with the player community in general. They are too short-sighted.

My friends, it has often been said that I like drakes.

My friends, I like drakes...

No, friends, I love drakes!

I love mountain drakes.

I love ocean drakes.

I love cloud drakes.

I love infernal drakes.

I like free regeneration that turns every effort to poke futile turning you into impregnable wall. I love free out of combat movespeed that allows you to swoop across the rift like shrieking screaming nightmare robbing enemies of any initiative and leaving them only able to wait for the moment when you fall down on them like raging tide. I love bonus true damage to objectives that allows you to melt them uncontested when enemies cant even fathom something this outrageous. I heart bonus ad and ap that packs extra despair into every skill and attack, hammering fear deep into opponent hearts.

I love skirmishes near dragon pit, i love free pick ups and retreats.

Fights for vision across the rift, in jungle, on the river, on blue, on red, though the brushes, in the drake pit itself, bloodshed over one pink or for the epic monster itself, I love every act of teamfight that can occur upon this summoner rift.

I love blasting the enemy to smithereens with long range nukes that thunder across the screen when he thinks it would be nice to check how things out there.

My heart leaps with joy whenever a ADC gets hit by CC and completely obliterated by well executed midlaner combo when he moves tries to take objective. And there is nothing like a tank using a Righteous Glory to initiate on enemy team spelling certain destruction for those caught under his wheels. And the feeling that comes when a champion runs screaming from his team that got hit by wombo in cramped dragon pit only to be mowed down by several skillshots leaving him no chance to dodge, is such an exquisite feeling. Like when initiator hits his aoe CC allowing teammates to swoop on enemies like falcons It moves me deep within my heart to watch a support solo drake while his team steamrolls enemies into the ground somewhere near midlane.

The sight of surrender vote being refused over and over again is an irresistible pleasure. And there is nothing more arousing, than the chat messages made by completely given up enemies, screaming in agony and blaming riot and each other as they're mowed down by team with 4 drakes and elder buff.

When a band of pitiful resistance fighters makes their final stand with nothing but one core and couple unfinished items, only to have their base smashed to atoms tower by tower by 2.0 AS ADCs with 3 mountain drakes (tone suddenly softens) I'm in ecstasy.

I love it when my team gets hit by well executed combo that sends them to fountain. It's so sad to see towers and inhibitors that were supposed to be defended at all costs, being laid to waste, jungle cleared and objectives taken. I love to be showered with full combo of enemy midlaner be it mage or assassin. I love when my jungler misses his smite allowing enemy support to steal drake with AA. I love when my jungler dashes 1 vs 5 and steals objective even at the cost of his life allowing his team to continue desperate struggle on the verge of sure defeat.

Gentlemen... All I ask for is match, a match so grand as to make Hell itself tremble. Gentlemen, I ask you as fellow players, what is it that you really want? Do you want for 5 or more drake every game? Do you wish for further carnage as I do? (Voice begins to raise) Do you wish for a merciless, bloody carnage resulting from contesting drakes? A match capable of bringing you to the edge of tilt with every little thing happening in it?(Dramatically raises voice) Do you ask for game to sweep in like a tempest, leaving not even supports to scavenge, from this Rift!?

TLDR i fucking love every type of drake.
