Unpopular Opinion: Bans Are Pointless Outside Pro Play

Woodakoodashooda··3 votes·913 views

Even if a champion has a high pick rate, the player who picks that champion is still going to lose approximately half their matches anyway. So, unless you know who your are playing against, as is the case with pro play, and what the success rate of each player with each champion is, banning a champion has little to no bearing on the outcome of matches.

And, besides, there are far many too choose from nowadays.

Banning counters or personal problem champions seems a fairly good use to me.

Sure the bans aren't as strategic as in coordinated play, but they're not useless - Their use is just shifted.

Ya... no.

It does actually. Example, if you draft a team of Sion JarvanIV Ekko Lucian Braum then there actually isn't a single point in the game your team can actually lose.

Or if your team is a burst heavy comp and the enemy locks in DrMundo

Certain picks and comps have no counterplay regardless if drafted in the right conditions, hence the purpose of banning champions.

Nah, if i can remove at least one rework from the match, it's a win for me.
