Why does Mord have stat steal on his ult?

I thought this was a thing unique to Trundle ....

Additionally, Death Realm is already incredibly powerful as an ability as it allows him to ignore ganks, take your most useful team member out of fights; which results in either a guaranteed 1 for 1, a stolen objective, a won fight etc.

Seriously, the fact his ult steals stats is beyond unreasonable.

Because it forces him to go 1vs1 and is right for him to have an advantage rather than having his ultimate simply doom him by default.

It's also thematically accurate, he reaps the souls from his enemies, drags them into the death realm and uses them to forge things for himself, be it weapons, castles or armors.

Thematically, it would just be fitting that he steals the stats after killing the enemy. But there is no reason why he already steals the stats during his ult...

he needs it because without it he would be figthing an uphill battle since the enemy has ult and morde doesnt have an ult at that point

I meant there is no reason thematically. Have to agree on the point that it is for gameplay reasons here, so Mordekaiser is not completely stripped of an ult during the 1v1. But the argument that it is for thematic reasons doesn't hold, imo.

If they are in the realm of death they are dead already, they aren't instakilled because gameplay reasons.

I didn't read it all, so I have to ask: Is it directly stated in his lore that dying is the only way to enter this realm?

If it is possible for Mordekaiser to return from his realm to the physical world, I could imagine the opposite is possible without actually dying, too.

It might be achieved with a similar ritual, yet Morde just pulls your soul in there.

I've had plenty of mords who used their ults and died very quickly, or after a drawn out fight. He needs it unless he's way ahead.

probably so he doesnt just always go for the support, or the weakest member of the enemy team in general.

the more fed your opponent is, the more stats he will probably have, and it incentivises him to pick a strong member on the enemy team for the 1v1 instead of always the weakest.

Ok, but does he need it to last 7 seconds though? I feel like he should get one or the other.

Stats are because you're in the death realm, that's the place that HE'S king in, ofc he has an advantage there. And it last for 7 seconds because honestly if your opponent is smart and doesn't just sit there, you need that 7 seconds to kill them. Hell, most of the time if they aren't a hyper squishie I can't kill them in 7 seconds because they are either tanky or play smart.

So you're telling me that thematics take precedence over balance?

Did you only read the first sentence of my comment? It's QUITE easy to survive the death realm, even ignoring the item choices that help.
