@Riot Why can i be matched with someone of 2 tiers below me, but I can't queue with one for ranked?
Hmm? HMM????

"Because you wanted dynamic queue and you guys like it" - Rito 2016
Doesn't matter if dynamic queue is in effect or not. Its black and white. You cant queue with someone 2 tiers below you or above you. But its grey when it comes to match making? Where is the consistency ?
Hypocrisy is how Riot's been rolling on for years.
I think it's just to help with matchmaking. If they allow it all the time then they there's no consistency of games, but if they NEVER allow it then when you have 9/10 of the game ready to start and that last one is missing because nobody at your rank is queuing at the same time... then it can slide.
But I think it comes down to the fact you can queue with 1 tier away, if someone 1 tier away from you queues with someone 1 tier away from them in the opposite direction then you have a magical 2 tier queue using the same 1 tier guidelines.
Personally I'd rather have a long queue for a balanced game, then a very short queue and a game where one or two players are completely outclassed -- especially if I'm playing to rank up.
Welp I have to wait a good 8-12 minutes for every game and I'm Gold V is that not long enough to garen-tee I don't get Silver Vs? There isn't a HUGE skill gap but the golds have been playing much longer, that's why they're gold. I don't want to have to try to carry the 0/9 Silver V Gangplank that fed the Gold Darius, and it's not really even his fault. I want to never meet him ever at all ever, to avoid him having a bad time getting stomped by a far better player and throwing my and my teammate's LP out the window.
It's perfectly consistent once you realize that matchmaking uses your MMR, not your rank.
You can see people's rank and queue accordingly, but can't see their MMR and can't queue accordingly.
Oh so if i have a silver 1 friend whos MMR is extremely high then i can queue up with him while im in plat? Can some1 confirm this? Cause i've looked at the website explaining that you cant queue with sm1 of 2 tiers away but maybe theres a trick i dont know about.
You're either being a prick and avoiding what this guy's whole point was, or being an idiot and not realizing what this guy's point was. Read it again.
WHAT SORT OF RESTRICTIONS ARE THERE ON GROUPS? (RANKED LIMITER) The only restriction on your Ranked group is based on rank. You must be within a single tier of the rest of your team in order to play together in a dynamic group. Players in higher tiers are more restricted, and can only play with those within two divisions of their tier. Here is handy reference:
Unranked: Can only queue with Bronze, Silver, and Gold Tier players
Please note: If you did not play last season or had your Ranked rewards stripped, you will be Unranked. Not being placed does not constitute as being Unranked.
Bronze Tier: Can only queue with Bronze and Silver Tier Players
Silver Tier: Can only queue with Bronze, Silver and Gold Tier players
Gold Tier: Can only queue with Silver, Gold and Platinum Tier players
Platinum Tier: Can only queue with Gold and Platinum players. Platinum I players can queue with Diamond III, IV and V players; Platinum II players can queue with Diamond IV, and V players; Platinum III players can queue with Diamond V players
Diamond I: Can only queue with Diamond I, II, III, IV, Challenger, and Master Tier players
Diamond II: Can only queue with Diamond I, II, III, IV, V, Challenger and Master Tier players
Diamond III: Can only queue with Platinum I, Diamond I, II, III, IV, V, and Master Tier players
Diamond IV: Can only queue with Diamond I, II, III, IV, V, and Platinum I, II Tier players
Diamond V: Can only queue with Platinum I, II, III, and Diamond II, III, IV, V Tier players
Master Tier: Can only queue with Challenger, Master, Diamond I, II, III Tier players
Challenger Tier: Can only queue with Challenger, Master, Diamond I, II Tier players
Your tier during placement matches is the tier that you finished in during the previously played season/pre-season.

They care.

dynamic queue is garbage, in order to make it function rito had fuckrd over matchmaking.
Because I'm Plat 5 and I can get queued up with TWO Silver 1s and two Gold 5s in "ranked".
Because this game is absolute garbage this season.
Or because your mmr is shit
Or because your mmr is shit
Fine, before getting promoted to gold 5 I was pitted against Plat 4 and Plat 5 players during my promo series when I was Silver 1 - how?
I since got to gold 5, proceeded to be with/against players from plat2-5, have gone on a huge losing streak (because more often than not it's my lane opponent that's the highest rank in the game, I go even in lane and my teammates still lose - if a gold 5 goes even in lane against a plat 3 his team should carry...) so I pretty much got sick of ranked and don't want to play it anymore.
All because matchmaking was so ridiculous as to put me repeatedly with people so much higher than me.
Either their mmr was shit or yours was great.
Either their mmr was shit or yours was great.
Mine WAS great. I had gone on a streak where i won about 17/20 games from silver 3 to gold 5. The last few of which were against high gold/low plat and i did okay but definitely was carried. Have some good luck combined with only around 60 ranked games played and suddenly you're in this awkward spot where you're gaining 28 for a win, losing 13 for a loss, but getting stomped in 2/3 of your games or more (even if you're doing fine in the game your team is throwing). Pretty awful to have to play those games to bring your mmr down to where you already know it should be - i wouldn't mind if i had the plat 5 rank to go with those games, but it sucks playing with plat 3s and losing so you can't climb from gold 5.. i probably should have been around gold 3 to plat 5, but you can't climb at that level against plat 2s and 3s.

Exactly! I am trying to get to gold V so match my skill against gold V players. It is unfair to be silver I and be matched against gold I and Plat V. Why do I have to beat such higher tier players just to move up to a rank way lower than them!? Logic?
If my MMR was as shitty as you think it is, I'd get demoted from Plat 5 three months ago.
Did I mention, in the very previous game to that one I played with people in Gold 1 on average with only 1 division of difference among them?
I checked your mmr on op.gg.... Your mmr is shit
I wonder, if you know how that ESTIMATED mmr on OP.GG actually works.
You need an MMR at G5 to demote, yours seems to be around G2-3. It's still bellow your league, just not far enough bellow to demote.
http://eune.op.gg/summoner/userName=Vistha+Kai+
According to your OP.GG your MMR is about 150 under your rank.
This isn't the true MMR. It's just a general indicator based on people's ranks.
It becomes completely useless, when people consistently play premades.
Even so, I know MMR needs to be on level of division 5 of lower tier, to get demoted and yet I'm playing with people lower than that and remain Plat, despite losing multiple times at 0 LP.
You have a 47% WR at 0LP plat 5 and were gold last season. It's almost impossible for you to have an MMR at your own division.
Just because you play with players with a lower rank than G5 that doesn't mean your MMR is bellow G5. I suggested ~G3 as an area where I believe you'd be resting right now, S1 and 2s can have that MMR and dynamic MMR increase is a thing. Even still that doesn't just explain away the fact that you play against players who are on average G3, that's about where your MMR would rest.

Your mmr needs to drop down to gold 5 in order to actually have you demote.
God, you people are so oblivous.
Yes, I know, you must have MMR at the level of Division 5 of a lower Tier, to get demoted.
I'm also playing with people between Gold 4 and Silver 2 consistently for two-three months and guess what? I'm yet to be demoted.
No, it's the matchmaking that puts me so much below my actual ELO, only to find those cancerous premades a game.

When you're on a winning streak, the matchmaking system continuosly pits you against people above your elo.
And when you're on a losing streak, you'll be continuosly put with people below your elo.
Think of your actual mmr, and then remember that the game also detects too much winning and losing, and adjusts your matchmaking to reflect it.
Or because your mmr is shit
Not sure you can be Plat still with MMR that bad (it is a pretty big leap from silver to plat mmr). He'd have dropped down to like Gold 2 by now
Go on op.gg and check his mmr
It's "MMR" based on people's ranks, which has nothing to do with actual MMR, especially when at least half of them are playing premades.
When people play many premade games with players below or beyond their own Elo it would nomally be shown. My MMR on op.gg drops down like 150 points when I play with my low silver friends and rises for around 150 points when I play with low-mid plat friends. When I play solo it's actually quite consistent. So if you didn't play many games with low premades (which you most likely didn't) you should kinda worry about your MMR. You also have 47% winrate.
Yeah, well shit. Kind of hard to not have such winrate when my team gets a premade with two Silvers while in the other there is not a single person lower than Gold 3, for example.
No, really. I had 53% when I got to Plat 5 up to 80-sth LP. Then I started getting queued up with people one or two whole tiers lower than myself every other game and everything went to shit.
Mmmh yeah. So I've just looked up your "winrate". You've won 34 out of 78 games. Which is win ratio of 43,58% for almost 80 games and you've had three 4 Game lose streaks in a short time. This makes you being matched with lower tier players who most likely have a slightly better performance than they should in their division. The problem is that your MMR starts to tank really badly once you lose many games where you're matched with people below your tier.
This might explain why you're matched with such "low" people and it might also explain why your shown MMR on op.gg is this low and why it might be correct. I know this from when I got GoldV for the first time. Until there everything was quite easy and it wasn't too much work getting there, after I was stuck in mid Silver for a short time. Once I got to GoldV everything went down river and it seemed like I couldn't win the supposedly easiest game. After that I only played ranked to get Gold V and season rewards^^.
I think any division has its own "elo hell". Bronze might be a bit different, but even there Bronze 5 is way worse than the stuff above it. Silver 5 is a bad place to be, especially since unranked players will be ranked around there most of the time. etc. etc. Even Diamond 5-4 can be considered the elo hell for high elo players. There are many people who are too good to stay in Gold, but are too bad to rise in Plat and unless they improve will get frustrated with their current situation. Gold 1-2 players on the other hand will be very motivated and they'll most likely give everything to come to Plat5, so most of them will play better or at least more consistently, leading to higher ranked players with a bad time in Plat5 being matched with even lower people once they get on a losing streak.
Just theory, some friends experiences while smurfing and maybe a little explanation for your situation.
Just try to keep a calm and concentrated mindset and don't let the situation influence your OWN gameplay too much. Then you'll be able to maintain or even increase your rank.

Probably because they don't want players to have the power to manipulate that system.
People are complaining about rumors of boosting and shit.
This would cause wide spread boosting.
Look up what happened when Sion got reworked and they announced dedicated Sion lovers can get a refund.
dynamic queue already allows "boosting"
Read my comment again and try again. I already addressed "boosting" in the current queue.
They match you with your MMR, not your rank division; so either your combined MMR is low, or theirs is high. So, are you that bad, or are they that good?
Its suppose to be about your MMR YES, but within 1 tier only!!!!
That has never been true within the history of LoL.
Actually it has rotfl for ranked yes.
No, it never has. The LP system was changed to cover up MMR to make it easier to understand for people. The matchmaking system ONLY uses MMR to place you against your opponents, NOT your rank/division. It has NEVER used rank/division. There is a correlation between your rank/division and your MMR, but they are not the same.
Seriously, look up a LoL FAQ before you spout incorrect gibberish.
Could you show us a screenshot of this occurence ?
I find it unlikely that a silver would be matched against a Platinum... or a gold against a Diamond.
I have played in three games out of my 300-400 or so where this has been the case. In my gold 1-2 adventure I was placed with a silver on or against my team while there was a platinum on the opposite team of the platinum. Also shortly after I was placed in platinum I had the wonderful experience of having a silver top laner that fed to hell.
Just go to my most recent udyr game where i went 0/4/2 and click on janna, shes silver 2 now.
stop blaming your loss on a silver janna lol
ur assuming im blaming someone for a loss? Its simply about him being in the game, i never said anything about how ANYONE in the game performed.
