Thornmail has become a shadow of its former self.

This post has been made before, but that does not mean the idea is any less important. As of patch uh... 4.16? I think it was? Thornmail went from returning 30% of the auto attack damage down to 15%. I'm not sure if Riot realized this when they made the immense nerf, but that literally makes this item's passive feel useless. It no longer is the only real counter to auto attacks, but just kind of... nothing. Maybe raise the level back up to a 20% or even a 25%. Just something to make it feel not useless to buy and a money sponge.

If they were going to nerf it that hard they needed to provide it with more stats.

Right now it's just pure armor, and you really can't afford to get a pure armor item until you've stacked health otherwise it proves useless.

I vote it steals AD. Every auto-attack (from the attacker) steals 5% of the attackers AD up to a maximum of 25% once it reaches the threshhold of 25% it lasts for 6 seconds then goes on cooldown for 60 seconds. Now imagine that item on Trundle. It's beautiful.

Thornmail is better when you combine it with Randuins.

Thornmail needed to go. Yes ADCs as they exist are a problem, but old Thornmail was truly 100% broken. Thornmail literally made it so the tank who bought it, as long as they weren't infinitely far behind, was guaranteed to win any 1v1 against an ADC. ADCs shouldn't be balanced "because thornmail exists", ADCs should be balanced to be defeatable whether you have thornmail or not.

But to the extent that they removed Thornmail's power is going overboard. Thornmail wasn't really broken before, with the amount of true damage they were loading up champions with. Now... now you can't even win a fight against another tank if you buy Thornmail. Anyone who builds lifesteal can outlast you and kill you.
