I feel like Shen needs help but I'm not really sure where
And there's the chance that he's simply out of meta (much like Shyv, who isn't weak, just out of meta).
But I'm not so sure he is. I kind of feel like his biggest issue is how little damage he does. There's strengths he has but they almost all rely on team comp or meta. I'll break it down.
Q: not really anything complicated about this, his bread and butter laning spell next to his passive. It does have some hidden power in its heal for allies (and his lane sustain in genera) but I don't really think it's super powerful as a utility spell. Maybe this is where he could use help.
W: largely just a lane power and a little extra durability in teamfights. Probably nothing needed here.
E: this is where it becomes interesting. You can never say his taunt is bad, 5 man taunts can be game changing. But if you're using it as a simple peel tool, I'd argue it's not that strong at that point and it's potential is wasted. Fact is, there are still much stronger disruptive abilities than his taunt and given the fact it has he potential to be outplayed, it becomes even less rewarding after a certain point. I don't know if another energy reduction is required or maybe a longer dash range. This could be an area to look at.
R: ah shen ult. My s2 bronze nightmares of shen not being banned and us initiating terrible tower dives only for Shen to save them and have us blame Shen for being OP. This is a strong spell given its global and can be casted from anywhere at any time and be clutch. But the thing is, this only feels strong in situations where he can use it offensively, anything else is a waste. It's been popular on global ult comps and comps with stealth champs (think eve, twitch etc). But even during points where eve and twitch were good, Shen was never really even worth being picked. And unlike other global ults, Shen requires a good comp for it to feel strong. TF ult is strong on its own. Karthus ult is strong on its own. Nocturne ult is strong on its own. Shen ult, while strong, doesn't feel independently strong like other globals.
This is why I feel like maybe a small rework is in order or simply more added damage. But I'll be honest, I'm not exactly a Shen player and I was hoping to hear some feedback from some Shen dudes.
