This is why people hate ranked and become toxic.

I learned my lesson when I got a 2 week ban and I mostly don't write in chat anymore at all. But games like these are what makes people rage. I had a darius top that has 2 darius games in the last 40 games where he went 3/13... and the enemy got a 650k mastery malphite top. Like who do you think won ? I camp bot lane, then my top is non-existent. I camp top lane, enemy bot lane wins and game over at 15 mins.

This is just the first game today. I always quit ranked halfway through the season because of shit like this. Last season it was autofill deciding games in diamond and you literally had no impact if you got an autofill person playing vs. a main. Unless you're 15/0, the game was over in champ select. As im typing here, trick2g in the next tab talking how he's hyped about new season yeahhh, but it's still the same shit with teammates and ranked.. lol

I just wish you @Riot would focus more on the ranked gameplay experience and the matchmaking system. Or you don't want to, and you're ok with people having garbage experiences, because you know they'll keep playing. That is somewhat true, but what's also true, I'll probably play ranked twice or maybe three times more if I wasn't "scared" of just losing games in champ select.

I've been saying this for years. Riot creates toxicity and then the person who rages against the toxicity is the one who is punished. Why? You get a feeder on your team. Clearly that player has a significantly lower elo that you. It's triggering. You have a 1% chance of winning that specific game. It's not so much the players fault for getting matched against an enemy laner who is clearly better than them. It's riot and their shut matchmaking system.

That's just one scinerio. Trolls who run down the mid lane feeding their ass off can go on and do that same thing 20 games in a row but as soon as you yell at them for ruining the game it only takes 3 games to get a chat ban.

Poor matchmaking is probably the main cause of toxicity on the game because your playing with people who you shouldn't be playing with for the pure purpose of riot keeping people at their mmr rank. It's like impossible to drop from plat to gold or gold to silver or silver to bronze. There are ways too many people who are playing in a rank that they don't belong in.

It doesn't work like this in any normal system in the world. But because this is a video game and it's online apparently riot can make their own rules for a society.

If someone on the street just kept walking into your lawn and putting his garbage on it you would call the police. Riot doesn't have police. They have an automated robot force that can only read what players say. Not what they do. So when you yell at the guy for throwing trash in your lawn that's recorded but there is no record of the trash or the lawn.

You are comparing a situation where a player attempts to win but performs poorly with a situation in which a person intentionally vandalizes your property. Apples and oranges.

A better comparison would be that time that Kobe started screaming at Shaq in the middle of the game because Shaq missed 12 free throws in a row - Except that NEVER happened because that sort of unsportsmanlike conduct is penalized in competitive sports, both by authority figures, such as the team's leadership or even the NBA itself, as well as by your peers, who end up not wanting to play with you.

Moonfall Saber1 votes

however if Shaq missed those free throws on purpose he could be suspended

Your post makes no sense. If you want to compare it to real world competition.

In that case it would be like playing basketball and you just have some team mates that aren't as talented or serious.

Would you say a bunch of mean shit to them. No, because you would get your ass beat or they would just not play with you antmore.

What you might do is try and arrange teams a little more evenly but that doesn't always happen.

So basically, in the real world people deal with losing better and aren't ass hats like in lol because there are real repercussions.

Yea, and in LoL, that player in your game that is doing poorly doesn't "suck," at least not relative to you. If he did, he wouldn't be in the same game as you.

Sometimes people have bad games...

Like your 1/8/0 Shyvana game.

Or your 4/17/5 Nasus game (Which by the way, your team managed to carry you through despite how hard you were feeding. Your counterpart ended the game 23/7/6.)

Or your 1/9/5 Zoe game (Which again, your team managed to carry you through despite how hard you were feeding. Your counterpart ended the game 12/4/7).

Really, the more that I look at your match history the more I think you of all people should not be complaining about people dragging you down.

Though Riot could do more to better ranked game experience, I can't blame them here. There is literally terabytes of literature out there on this game; from Youtube videos to sites dedicated solely on telling you what you're doing wrong. In other words, it is not Riot's fault that the Mundo top lane refuses to farm it out against a Nasus, pushes up without wards, and ends up being ganked repeatedly. It is not Riot's fault that my jungler picks Lee Sin, has 0 impact early game because he decides to farm it out while the enemy Warwick gets mid AND bot lane fed. Simply put, Riot has nothing to do with players having awful decision making capabilities.

But yes, it does make it very toxic because if your teammates just took the time to assess the situation, the Jax would not engage on a Cassiopeia with no vision and baron being up, only to get clobbered 1v4.

ARTEMIDA4 votes

i understand this fully its so damn frustrating, i got banned for two weeks because i argued with someone who told me to go die in a whole because i was lagging and riot siad although you didnt use any profanity, its the fact that i argued back, which is total bull shit, its sucks that we get matched with people like that in ranked, but even if riot want to change who we got matched with they couldnt. they dont know the toxic personality of people before hand, if they did we wouldnt even be discussing this, gotta find something to take your furstation out on.

La Belle Sauvage3 votes

I don't blame you for feeling the way to do. And the first two replies are excellent and I have nothing to add on that front.

But don't blame riot, the game or the others for you feeling toxic or angry.

Own your anger/emotion you are in total control of that.

You allowed yourself to become angry. I'm not saying any of us can control anger 100% of the time. But the key to controlling your outlook in many aspects of life is owning what you have control over.

You cannot control this game, riot, your teammates, but you can control how you react, how you study, taking proactive steps to improve your play.

Again it's okay to be angry and feel emotions. But you can redirect that energy to bettering yourself as a player.

Good luck, and I'm sorry that you feel this way!

By fucking over people people play more league to try and climb.

Loss streak after winning streak phenomenon? It's not a phenomenon at all. Each win moves you up in MMR, each loss moves you down in MMR. Your MMR determines who you play with.

With me so far?

Most (really all) players have a range of games that they can win. At the very bottom of this range, they are so much better than their opponents that they carry every game easily. This is where your winrate is at its highest. At the very top of this range, they are worse than their opponents, but are not so terrible that they drag the whole team down. In other words, this is the area where they can't carry, but they can be carried. This is where your winrate is at its lowest.

I hope that's made sense so far. It's really just common sense.

So now let's add those two together. If you win a bunch of games, your MMR jumps. This results in moving you further away from where you can carry, and eventually to the end of where you can be carried, at which point you start losing more and more games until you're back down to where you can carry again. In other words, you oscillate around your 'true' rating.

The easiest way to see this in effect is to consider Elo Boosters. Elo Boosters take an account in Bronze and proceed to go on massive win streaks because those accounts are so far below their skill level. However, as they get closer and closer to their skill levels, they start to lose more and more games. Likewise, if you take a look at the accounts AFTER they are boosted, you see that the accounts tend to go on losing streaks, because they are too far above their skill level. They start winning more as they get closer to their skill level.

No.

I understand how MMR works, I also understand how much harder it is for me to play against plats.

After a winning streak however, the game makes matches actively unfair to you. I’m talking my team being all gold players against 3 plat players.

As a mid lane main (in season 7) I went on a loss streak because for over 5 games in a row during ardent meta my bot lane would feed.

One game my bot went 0/16 whilst I went even in lane.

Oh and i’ve found diamond 5 players in gold level ranked games as well.

Okay, the easiest way to disprove this sort of illogical thinking is to simply change the perspective. Let's say that the matchmaking system was unnecessarily complicated by some mechanism that makes matches unfair to you when you're on a winning streak. How do you suppose the matchmaking system selects the other 4 saps that get to ride your streak-triggered unfair match to a defeat? How do you suppose the matchmaking system selected the 5 lucky ducks that your streak-triggered unfair match would be giving a free win?

Also, the only way for a Diamond 5 player to be in a Gold Level game is if it's a Gold 1 / Plat 5 Game is if the Diamond 5 player has lost so many games that they've dropped into Plat 5 MMR and are about to get demoted out of their tier. A Diamond 5 player is restricted from even duo queuing with someone lower than Plat 3.

I just dont get why duo que is still a thing when we already have flex for that.

The players that arent smurfing who duo usually get stomped because their gameplay doesnt improve significantly if at all because they duo (at least in low elo) but are forced to face opponents that have been made artificially harder because it assumes they will be better when like 90% of my games that isnt true and are instead a liability for whoever they get put with. I dont know whether to blame duo Que, matchmaking system, or both.

not everyone who plays a game online is going to be a saint. if you haven't realized it . the world is filled with shitty people. But this is a game where we expect fairness and a chance. And when some players don't even get that, they feel frustrated and take it out on others. It's part of life. So with Riots currently unhealthy balance at the game from all angles and the overbearing auto-ban system, it doesn't make me feel like reforming. especially when you get a shit ban by the system for joking in chat. Ranked im starting to think isn't even worth it anymore as it's no real measurement of skill unless your of the higher ranks maybe. Heck i seen mastery level 7 yasou's that are stuck in bronze. I feel your frustration man, and the system wont get fixed until everyone at riot is on the same page and actively works to make the game more satisfying to players.

When you see a garbage game run it up mid and move on. Don't waste your time or mental energy wondering why this trash is in your game. End the game and get more games in so your MMR because more and more accurate. Unless you're a d3+ player then some of these games are just not in your control because you have to carry super hard to make them work.

Matchmaking is absolutely awful. I was in a ranked winstreak for my placements and the game before the streak stopped, one of my teammates told us they were sad because they went 2-8 on their placements... >_>.

KataBenTuri1 votes

In Bronze, all too often players are picking champs they have little mastery of (mastery 1 or 2 even--I've done it a few times, so I'm guilty), and they seem to approach ranked as practice (for them--while other mates are trying to climb). I've often wished that ranked required at least mastery 4 of your chosen champ (and if the only ones you have that on are banned, you get automatic dodge, no penalty).

Of course this could cause a lot of problems with the ripple effect (Darius support, because that's all he had mastery 4 on), but if there were a way to achieve it, without crapping on the game, it would improve ranked, at least at the lower levels.

Ellis Dee1 votes

everyone i talk to tells me "oh just play rank" and i say but i want to practice this champ, and they all say the same thing "you wont get any practice in normals just play rank only." that is what any diamond or plat player will tell you if you talk to them about your game.

This is accurate. You should play a few normals just to get a feel for how the skills work, but after that, head to ranked. Players (including yourself) tend not to play their best in normals because they're just normals. They tend to try harder in ranked. And, if you're like me, you've done this so much that there is a big discrepancy between your ranked MMR and your normal MMR, which makes practicing in normals even less valuable.

In my experience, for the most part you should be matched evenly. People believing they should be in higher elo is exactly what causes them to purchase boosting services in the first place. Since everyone believes they should be diamond or higher and that "other teammates are dragging them down" they justify the few that do. There aren't many but since diamond is such a low percentage of players and the natural fallout causes these players to end up in plat, this is where you run into a lot of these players that ARE ACTUALLY dragging others down.

Its a vicious cycle of arrogance. Best not to take it too seriously, or carry like a superstar player. Blaming others, no matter how justified will put you in a bad place mentally and seeing your teammates like that is a terrible habit.

N1ghtwalk1 votes

The sad thing is how unbalanced the matching system is. I got to plat last season and got placed S2 now. Literally every game my team is 0/10 by 5 minutes in, then everyone is arguing and gives up or feeds. I've learned to mute people but it's besides the point. Ranked games are rarely close or competitive games. It's likely a one sided stomping with completely inexperienced players on one team and vice versa. Smurfs are a thing which ruins newer player's experience but I've never felt ranked in league to be so unbalanced. Like I shouldn't have to play 5 games to have one close match... There is such an inconsistency of skill level that ranked is almost just luck.

Just had a game earlier where I SNAPPED. I mean... holy crap did I snap. I got chat banned for it, but I just simply COULD NOT fathom the pure idiocy of the situation. We invaded early game and our bot lane netted the ONLY three kills we got from that invade. Their counterparts blew flash, heal and exhaust and they had EVERYTHING up.

Bot lane sat on 1150 gold... 1150 gold early game and our ADC, who got TWO kills... yeah, he was a DRAVEN. 4minutes in, this dude and his support DIES to the enemy adc. "Double kill". Ya know... I had to hold back. You got TWO kills + 1 on the support and you guys give up a double with no jungler interference? Really? Okay, I said. We'll brush it off. Few moments later, bang another kill for the enemy adc...

Keeping down my rage, I didn't say anything. THEN, 6mins in, he dies to the enemy jg he pings me and asks, "What are you doing? You're lvl 4 10minutes into the game" and I retorted, "You BLEW an easy game. You HAD two kills early game and threw your lead. Typical gold players man" and his response was, "Lmfao, I was d5 last season and every season before". Obviously, I refused to believe anyone that can make it to d5 would be dumb enough to lose lane after getting 2 kills on Draven early. ESPECIALLY to a gold adc player.

What really put the nail in the coffin was when he got dived bot and then said, "Dive is obvious, dive is obvious! But wolves... this jgler" I went off. Like, legit, OFF on this guy. Call me toxic, call me out for harassment. I don't even care. I couldn't hold back anymore. i was outraged and upset. Like holyyyy. I'm sorry to the other people on the team, but the fact that the enemy adc came out of lane 9 AND ONE from a TWO KILL LEAD PISSED me off. Honestly...

I get bad games. I do. But at some point, when does it stop being a bad game and start being intentional? If you're even slightly decent at the game, something like that should NOT be happening. He called me out for being salty and so did the support. My question is, should I NOT have been salty? If you were going to int (even if they weren't, they should've been. It would've made for a better excuse) anyways, you should've given those kills to people who would've freaking did something with it.

I'm actually still tilted from that game. The fact that I still hold that game to heart makes me wonder why I'm even still playing league right now cuz I'm FUMING AHHH
