Hes great as is, he was meant to be an AP based trickster! I love his new play style of having a huge emphasis on his Q.

You know he's up for a rework, right? Maybe not real soon, but eventually he'll get a huge kit change. They might keep his ability to be played AP, they might not.

A couple months ago I would agree with you, and I do think he will get one, but now i don't think it will be all that huge. Shaco is a champ that excels more via the players proper execution of his kit as opposed to his kit simply being particularly effective.

While i do see him getting changes, i don't think they will be all that drastic. I expect a Warwick level update at best given the way his kit functions.

And I don't see his ability to be played AP or AD goign anywhere anytime soon.

Riot tends to lean one way or another more recently and if they rework shaco I'm afraid they'll delete his 4 abilities scaling off AP and just make him some sort of flank assassin that just auto attacks.

I doubt it especially with the changes being more in favor of AP Shaco.

Also, the more recent updates all kept the alternate build paths.

Where have you've been all this time in the forums?! lol I have the same mindset about Riot not being able to balance ap & ad ratio champs well thus reworking them to be either ap or ad. Right now thats my worst fear about shaco being in the spotlight with his high win rate ratio there going to push ahead with a rework on him (especially if people are still buthurt and complain on the survey that was emailed to us recently). I had a forum post about it a while ago on how LoL Became Way too Less Diverse in Building Champs the Way YOU Want to Play Them

Thing is, shaco is one of the last kits in this game that require a shit load of decision making. One false move and you're done, and thats what i love about the champion.

Shaco is punishing for being stupid and extremely rewarding for playing well.

I know exactly what you mean. He is a All in kinda champ. High risk for high reward. AP shaco has always been my favorite since season 2. That being said though do you think his early/mid game is suffering if you don't get a quick snowball? I feel like he does no damage if he doesn't snowball atm. Its super late game when he finally has most his items that he can do ridiculous damage. At least in my experience trying both jg and top but mostly top.

If i don't snowball i just need to group earlier and use boxes to control a teamfight rather than explode someones carry.

People don't realize it but setting up 3+ boxes near drag / baron is really easy and when done correctly it prevents people from leap smite stealing a buff or forces people who want to teamfight into triple+ boxes.

Thats what I've been doing early/mid game. If i get behind I rush mejai's and start roaming starting teamfights to try and get enough ap to support myself in building other items slowly.

Could you elaborate what you mean by "no versatility"? I think hes very very versatile, I'm able to control parts of lane / jungle / baron / drag / river. I can 1 shot squishies, I can destroy towers. I absolutely poop on tanks because of my execute on shiv.

Overall Shaco feels really good to play at the moment.
