I wouldn't mind waiting 5extra minutes if that meant I get one of my roles...

Not many people understand how this works. Queue times WILL go back up with 20 minutes without autofill.

If it takes 10 seconds to find a midlaner, but 60 seconds to find a support, the first midlaner will wait 60 seconds for a game. But the second mid laner will wait 150 seconds for a game, the third one with wait 200 seconds for a game... Eventually we are waiting 20+ mins just for a game to start. Imagine a funnel being filled faster than filtered out.

"Oh it appears today I can't play ranked. Oh well worth the lack of fill! I'll just take a 12 hour nap and hope I get my role"

It wouldn't be 5 minutes. If it was 5 minutes, Riot wouldn't have implemented Autofill.

I would mind waiting longer. the time to get in a game is already too long.

would you wait 20 minutes though. What about 30? Do you think everyone wants to wait extra when they can fill all roles?

It WONT BE 5 minutes! Get this in your fucking heads. This isn't some magic static timer that goes "no support? Extra 5 minutes" Learn what's bottlenecking

thats what everyone is saying but you should remember auto-fill was created becausae everyone was whining about having the "long queue times."

if only it was 5 mins, if only... i feel that people just make this type of threads having zero idea of how long queue times will actually go up but still decide "well i can't be that high" and put a random number or some number they heard somewhere. Queue times will increase, not by 5 mins. At least not instantly. It will slowly but surely increase, up until they start becoming aggravating to deal with and then people will stop playing ranked, slowly but surely why? because they do not want to wait that long.

Also League might have 100 million players that doesn't mean that 100 million players are playing at the same time in the same server and are in the same rank you start filtering people by when they are playing, what server and what rank and that number will fall drastically and this is not even taking into consideration people queuing up for specific roles which will further cut that number.

If we adopted a system that allowed for this, it would slow everyone's queue down, and you cannot unilaterally make that decision for everyone.

Or you play support and then get one of your preferred roles next time. Either magically 20% of the LoL playerbase becomes support players or people take turns. 1/5 of the time youre support, 4/5 whatever you like.

The entire last season only had autofill in high elo. Guess what, people still played support and queues weren't insane. We could definitely get rid of it and nothing would change.
