The problem with Wits end is it give no AP/AD

I don't think the passive is so op that the items can't give any AP/AD. I don't mind paying 3200 gold if the item had some ap and ad.

The thing is, if you add AD -or- AP, you lock this item --which is already under-used-- to a single class of champs. If you add both AP -and- AD, you lock this item to the 3 champs that can actually use hybrid stats. Not a good idea in either case, probably.

It's too situational, last time I bought that Item was in all for one, when I was playing master Yi against 5 Blitzcranks. Rushed that item because I needed the MR.

Last time I bought the item was on Shen. And I was pretty fed (ended the game with 17/0/23).

It has a unique passive, but it's rarely worth the buy.

Maybe if it gave health then it could be considered better.

If they slightly buff the magic on hit, it'd probably be great.

Well, it gives in a way On Hit AP, just not Actual AP that will scale Abilities.

From what I understand, at least within my own personal builds, Wit's End synergizes really well with Nashor's Tooth... so giving Wit's End actual AP would make it even better with Nashor's, as 15% of Wit's End would go back into every Auto.

But the issue is coding that, since actual AP doesn't apply On Hit. Which is the point of Wit's End, for that Damage on Hit for AP Basic Attack Champions (and hence the synergy with Nashor's)... so it would have to KEEP the Damage On Hit portion, and get buffed with Actual AP, or it would be WORSE.

To which the question then must be asked... would that be to strong?

How many AP Champions are Auto Attack Reliant? Because really those are the only one's Wit's End is looking for. I mean, it can work on Diana, Fizz, Udyr, Corki (but then almost every 'weird' item works with Corki) Teemo... it's not a huge list, though I likely missed some.

It isn't intended for AP Scaling Champions that rely on Abilities, so I think that is why they by-passed the AP. They give you 40 Magic Damage per Auto Attack in Bonus Damage, and a nice little MR Steal.

Like people say, if they can ever get the proper amount of On Hit Damage, the Item will be great. Or if they instead made it True Damage so you got the full effect every Auto Attack, then 40 would be fine and may even need scaled back to 30-35.

Kayle, Bard, and Lulu as well.

True. And there are likely some others as well. It's why we did see a rise in it's use somewhat with Devourer and the concept of Phantom Stacks... since that was the Damage Spike we are asking for to make it 'work' in the first place.

The problem with Wit's End is pretty much everything.

MR, MPen, on-hit damage, and attack speed... So it's a situational item for AP on-hit champions who deal a lot of magic damage and also want MR (but only in the middle of the fight, they don't need MR at the start of the fight when most mages are blowing their combo on you). How often does all of this come up? Even if you're playing one of the three champions that would consider this item we are looking at maybe damage item #4 to replace a tank item that you probably should be building instead.

It's no wonder why most on-hit players just forget about the item completely and build their core damage items (Guinsoo/Bloodrazer/BoRK) followed by a real MR item (SV or Banshee) when they are worried about a magic damage threat.
