Magus should have been replaced with an Alternate version of Luden's instead of Lich Bane
10-15% CDR + 40-60 AP with a proc that does far less to Champions than Live Ludens but does a lot more to Monsters and Minions
Said proc gives Mana back when used on Monsters and Minions. Has a CD so it can't be abused by Laners and does less and gives less mana back on Minions but still more damage to Minions than Live Ludens.
What does this do that Riot would like?:
- Gives Mage Junglers specific clearing power without catering specifically to Fighter/Mages
- Fits with the builds of Mages far more than Lich Bane would, and you never want to rush Lich anyway but getting Ludens first is alright
- Laners wouldn't like it because it gives far less stats than Ludens and it wouldn't be abusable on things like Ezreal and GP
- Still specifically catered to Jungling and not just a load of stats all APs would like (which is why they removed Magus)
Why did Riot not like Magus? and why didn't they just give it Mana Regen?
Raw stat items in the Jungle just makes the best possible users of those stats better than everyone else (see Warrior). Making a jungle specific clearing passive instead of just raw stats gives every single beneficiary of those stats equal in power.
