a number of people came out saying plants are actually a better idea than they thought. so im guessing they are not as hated as the minority on the forums make it seem.

Oh, certainly not as game breaking as I though, but they are gimmicky af and absolutely reduce the actual strategy needed to jungle. Previously, smite buffs required proper planning to maximize rewards, especially if you planned on using smite for PvP purposes. Now, every camp heals you equally (reducing the planning required), camps don't give buffs at all (except blue and red, thus reducing strategic diversity of differing clear routes), the loss of the wolf spirit and raptor vision thing even further hurt the vision game, and the changing of the raptor and krug camps force a nearly required jungle route for most champs. Even aoe junglers can't handle doing raptors early due to the massive damage they output.
