Ekko's Level of Counter-Play vs Every Other "Assassin" Character in the Game and their Counter-Play.

Right now you can bait ekko's ult out by simply walking away during his cast animation. Just stand relatively close to his ult and pay attention. There is both a sound and a visual that will indicate that you need to right click your way out. Moreover, i generally get the impression that my target just happened to click at exactly the right time and direction. Basically luck. i dont know why they should get that chance if they were bad enough to get positioned on top of my clone. What other assassin has as much counterplay as ekko?

All assassins have counterplay.

Shaco : Red trinket, pink wards. Can't surprise you, have to walk up and get attacked to do damage.

Katarina : Crowd Control her ult and she's worthless.

Akali : Her combo usually requires two charges of Q so you have time to escape into your team

Fizz : His escape abilities are high cd, when he uses them he's vulnerable.

Do you notice that literally none of that applies to Ekko?

Fizz: Used to be built AD tank just like ekko is built ap tank. Then they nerfed that.

Did you notice that none of these champions have difficult skill shots? 2 of three have 0 skillshots. One of them has a single skillshot that is embarrassingly easy to hit. Ekko has 3. Not a single one is close to being reliable for dmg.

Edit: I forgot, buying pink wards does not qualify as counter-play because it ddoesnt really qualify as game-play. Its just a purchase. Not a skill.

Yes, because kata has literally nothing if she fudges her ult.

Who cares if akali isn't played much? (it's a blessing though)

Did you notice only kata and ekko have blinks? Did you notice only fizz and ekko have two aoe nukes? Did you notice ekko has the most cc? Did you notice only ekko has a shield? Sure ekko might be "harder" but he has much more than just damage like the ones up there.

his q is trivial to hit if you can just blink

The closest to ekko is zed just because you can cc him during his ult to lower his damage and buy multiple items to remove it.

I don't consider buying qss to be counter-play because its not really a form of gameplay. Its like remembering to upgrade your freaking trinket. Its not fun. Its not "play" of any sort at all. It only just barely has anything to do with "game" at all because it is technically a tactic.

People consider Kat to be push r to win and low skill cap, but at least she has to decide when to press r and that's much harder than knowing when to push qss.

The hardest part about qss is having the willpower and diciplin to actually spend gold on it when you really just want to play the game. Overall, yes zed is considered one of the more healthy assasins. I guess that's because his ult is basically non-existant given qss. Hurray? I'm so excited to buy qss now? I can tell everyone about that time I bought qss and zed didn't kill me?

I agree that qss isnt the best option. but with mercurials its actually purchasable eventually and you can do something with that slot once you get the gold.

There is also zhonyas which isnt a terrible buy since seekers helps early in, you can cc him when he goes in on you, you can use any escape after he ults you since he most likely wont have another gap closer unless he uses flash. Also you can just pick a non traditional mid laner or any of the mids that do counter him. Diana Talon chogath are just 3 examples. A lot of it is just dodging a lot. Like when I face zed I spend more time just dodging the swarm of things but if he tosses out his entire kit and misses im just gonna go in because that shadow cooldown is like 18 seconds. It's just a skill matchup mostly.

Its obvious that every other assassin has had huge nerfs and he hasnt. See rengar. See Talon. See Diana.

If anything, id say zed is borderline toxic and only because of qss, his shadow cooldown, because flash is marginally effective against some of his dmg, and because his dmg is somewhat on the back end of his combo. That's really it. His dmg is on the back end.

Now, I'm not bad with ekko, at least in my elo. I have really good kda's with him and a good win rate. I'm not complaining that he is too weak. I think he is decent. And SUPER FUN although he can be annoying in the way that I see some people play his low cooldowns.

His laning is weak-ish, but I'm not good at rattleing people and getting them to misplay in lane. I have to buy two dorans, wait out my lane and wait for shit to get hecktic cause thats when people find it difficult to execute ekko's counterplay. That's when my ekko does well. It makes good sense and seems fair to me. Hes even got utility so I'm thinking about more than getting a kill.

I think he should be Riots model assassin because his kit is so full of things you can do to NOT get wrecked. Its a matter of if you do those things. His only ability with zero counterplay is his e and that has a 20% ratio. I'm just a bit disgusted that Katerina with tier one boots was able to walk out of range of my ult during its casting animation. Thats enough counterplay please. I outplayed her already. She should have kept her eye out for the ult. Let me have my moment.

I think that having as much counter play as ekko does is something that every assassin should come with, but I dont think you should be able to walk away from that ult if you are in range.

Sure ekko has slightly more counterplay than other assassins but it's barely noticeable.

The only assassin with noticeable counterplay is Zed, the rest are feast or famine point and click or spam the same combo over and over champions that aren't healthy.

I thought ekko had more counterplay. You can dodge half the dmg on q even if he hits you with it. His w is difficult to use in a 1v1. His ult is hell to land when you want it. What do you do vs zed? I thought it was just qss and stun him until he falls behind. I think the heal on ekkos kit might need to go. It scales with missing hp. Should probably scale with current hp or something.

come to think of it. the heal on the ult allows me to frontline as a squishy in bronze. it should probably go or be nerfed. that doesn't seem right.

Theres a difference between being countered and having counterplay. You can be countered by that magic resist aura supports get. U can be countered by defenses. That's not counterplay.

Counterplay is dodging a skillshot. Counterplay is avoiding a champions strengths. It involvs gameplay, timing, and skill. Its completely different than what items you have in your inventory. Zed is countered by qss but that's not counterplay.
