Kassadin Players: Did Riot Went in the Wrong Direction?

EDIT: Just noticed the bad grammar in the title, I'm sorry guys. :/

Hey everyone, I just wanted to give an opinion in regards to Kassadin. He isn't in the best-state currently after nerfs to his R in addition to the removal of his silence.

Who is Kassadin? When I first started playing the game in February 2010, he was referred to as the "anti-mage" due to the reduced magic damage he took, his ability to close the gap between himself and mages, and silence them. However, over time he became popular for his capabilities as an all-purpose burst assassin. I feel like Riot went the wrong direction with his reworks and nerfs. They took the premiere anti-mage of the game, cut down his gap closer, and removed his silence. What is an anti-mage without a silence? That would be as if they removed the dodge-component of Jax's E, a huge part of the duelists kit. I feel like Riot views him as an all-purpose assassin and made that his identity when his true identity is that of an anti-mage. By removing parts of his kit to compensate for his being an assassin, they have been hurting his anti-mage identity. I feel like they should have weakened him as an assassin while strengthening him as an anti-mage to compensate. Giving a champion with as much mobility and CC as Kassadin so much burst was crazy, so why not cut down on that a bit and further promote his anti-AP identity?

Seeing as Riot doesn't like Kassadin as an Assassin, why not bring him back to his original identity? You guys have strayed so far from that path. If you feel like the range on his R had to go and that it was OP, thats fine... but why not revert the removal of his silence?

I will admit as a player that isn't a Kassadin main I don't have a wealth of knowledge about the champion. So, Kassadin mains, do you think something is wrong? Is he alright? Should he get his silence back? I always felt as though his silence was an important part of his kit, seeing as only him and Soraka had point and click silences (until Talon was released, but they took his silence away as well) and he is the anti-mage of League of Legends.

I would rather a Kassadin main speak of his issues in my place, I don't know if I'm just suck with Kassadin or if something is genuinely wrong and needs some sort of buff/tweak. I apologize if I wasted your time and Kassadin actually is in a good state and its just me being bad.

I don't care much for the Kassadin that can instantaneously burst down an ADC, however I wish he was an amazing counter-pick against mages. Every time an opponent would be a top tier caster, you could grab Kassadin to ensure they don't snowball. Kassadin should be to mid what Teemo is to top lane, amazing at denying the lane-opponent but not as helpful as other typical champions at the position in teamfights/late game. I want to see Kassadin take down the Ahris and Leblancs of this game, he is an anti-mage.

I love kassadin right now. He is so strong if you can play him correctly. I understand that I am in bronze, but that doesnt mean my opinion doesnt matter. He is in a better spot now then a few patches ago. My win rate with him actually pretty good and When I lose games with him, my score is usually still pretty good. It all depends on how you play him tbh

I feel like the tried making him an ap bruiser. When he was op people would just build something like item 3174 item 3100 item 3089 and be able to two shot tanks.
