And I would appreciate any advice Rengar players have for improving my game with him.

I already know about using Armor pen, CDR, and armor runes.

I already know about using the cunning tree to top off my mid game cdr at 45%.

I already know that the remaining 12 points can be used in Ferocity for extra offense or Resolve for a margin of extra sustain.

I know that Rengar should gank early to optimize his performance throughout all stages of the game.

With that all that out of the way. How can I issue death onto my enemy without getting squished as soon as I reveal myself?

You can throw bola mid jump. Doesnt seem like it would ad much, but in practice you see the difference.

practice his half second combo. you know... the one where he jumps out and deletes your health bar.

There's no practice in that. But it is justified because he's an "assassin"

You want to take precision over the 45% cdr. The extra armor pen scale is great. Use rest in offensive tree.

You can gank early when possible, but get level six fast as possible, too. Try not to waste time trying to force a gank on a lane. If you are leaving your jungle to go through river, etc. Keep at least 3 feros. Helps when you unexpectedly run into enemy jungler or a roaming laner. So, you really shouldn't gank early to optimize performance. Go for an early gank when possible. Otherwise, rush level 6 and use ult on a lane.

Far as killing an enemy before you get killed. If fed and they don't have hard cc, carry is alone, enemy blew cc in teamfight/before, etc, just kill the target.
