Gnar is like a traffic light

-If his gauge is yellow - be aware -If his gauge is red don't cross it unless you're 100% sure you're safe

Don't complain about dieing when crossing a red light, you could have waited 10 seconds.

What about when you're a melee and he just beats your face in from ranged? Pretty sure green isn't supposed to mean "lose lane from huge %damage"

If you can't deal with a 400~485 ranged champion with essentially no burst and the lowest base stats in the game in multiple categories, you need to seriously re-think your strategy for playing a melee champion.

The only stat other than range that Gnar is lowest in is movement speed. He also has a jump. So what exactly are melee champs supposed to do against him again?

Gnar's pretty Powerful, but he's not exactly the Most OP champ ever. A Lot of the champs that Suffer against Gnar also Suffer against Teemo, so it's safe to surmise the opposite is true, as well. I know it's not Always possible, but if you have to Face a Gnar, Try to be someone like Riven or Pantheon. Ironically, Teemo himself Works pretty well against Gnar.

However, all that aside, there's still 1 last thing one needs to remember to succeed against Gnar: NEVER CHASE GNAR.

Gnar has the lowest HP growth out of all champions in LoL, which quickly puts him at the lowest overall HP and wins him the award for least HP at level 18.

All his bases are pretty low even compared to other ranged champions, giving him below-average HP/5 and AD as well, both in base and per-level scalings.

The same thing you do against every champion that's capable of poking you to death.

Stay outside of their poke range until you can go ham. That's lanning as a melee 101.

If you're loosing to a champion's early game due to strengths weak early-game champions like Vayne happen to have, you're failing in utilizing the patterns a melee champion needs to play by to win against a ranged champion. Hit and run tactices aren't something you're going to realistically succeed with against a champion specifically designed to counter Goliaths with David tactics. You should probably look into playing champions that win through poke tactics like Teemo, Vladimir, Lulu, and Gnar if you're play-pattern is getting dumpstered by a hit-and-run champion. Or, if you do like the tough-guy feel, just stick to the jungle.

It's not about his burst or lack there of, it's his ability to infinitely kite you with strong slows, an escape, and consistent DPS through percent damage.

For most top laners he is a dangerous opponent regardless of his rage bar.

yellow, red. it doesnt matter, unless you have flash you will not come within a minions range of him. he is beyond stupid vs melees and riot will continue handing out ranged just like the new kalista to make sure every melee is destroyed so the league adc and ap era begins. fucking riot. early game a smart gnar harasses u with his stupid w then if u can get near him he will kite u even more because for some reason they gave him a goddamn ms boost on his q then when he turns near yellow he will ebgin to aggro then red where he can perma cc u. great design on riots part. made me want to lee and riven top so much. its fun being able to get 1 cs per 5 min while hes relaxing and knowing just how stupid this unbalanced game is. well played riot.. well played.

Frozen mallet turns this champion from annoying to pure cancer (as it completely negates his health problem and gives him ANOTHER free slow along with damage). Fortunately, most people don't build it.
