My main issue when I go top lane is when I play, say Darius and I have to face a Gnar/Teemo/Lulu/Lissanddra/Swain. etc. and it gets really annoying trying to deal with them.
Are there any melee's that can go into the laning phase without at least being poked out uncontrollably fast because ranged people with mobility are fking stupid.
I was thinking shyvana since she gets pretty tanky easily and does decent damage but idk if she's any good

I've won lane against both of the first ones as Darius.
The trick is early movement speed. A phage with some boots will let you close the distance and hook them before they can react.
Works on Lissandra as well to an extent, but her root makes it harder to burst her down.
Lulu is fucking impossible, and I've never faced Swain in lane as Darius.
As for melees that can handle most ranged champs, Wukong is a very good choice due to his instant gap closer and ability to stealth. I find Shen works fairly well too, but don't expect to get many kills on your laning opponent. He mostly wins lane by being an immovable. Fiora is good as well. I've beaten Teemo's ass in lane purely because he couldn't handle my early damage as Fiora. Even his blind didn't save him.
Pantheon should do well against Teemo and Gnar, but the other three might pose some problems.

Sohleks2 votesShyvana wouldn't be much better for your purposes. The best you can hope for is to outtank their harass or outshove them because you will get kited almost as hard as Darius and won't have kill potential without help.
Irelia is the most infamous anti range bruiser. She has a point and click gapcloser that resets if it kills (if they stand near a low hp cs of your you have a free opening). She has a long duration stun. She has serious burst damage for you to use during that stun. She shrugs off CC with her passive making it harder to kite her.
Double gap closer as a normal ability; huge damage, huge cheese potential. Ult can function as a 3rd gap closer and makes you untargetable. Effective versus squishies, weak versus tanky bruisers tho.
Top lane Gragas. It is not meta and probably banned for his jungle. But he is beefy, sustains, has huge CC... You play Solo lane Gragas as AP.
Huge sustain, good pushing power. Ranged silence super annoying. Survives almost any lane.

actually are stronger than traditional assassins vs tanks and tanky bruisers though, because unlike burst assassins they have high sustained damage and in 1v1's usually lifesteal back most of the damage they take.
You saying Fiora is weak vs tanky bruisers is incorrect, when I am playing Fiora I win every single 1v1 vs tanks and bruisers.

3TWarrior1 voteshow about sion? 2 ranged pokes, a gap closer, 3 methods of stunning his opponent(yes 3, for some reason if his E knocks them into a wall they get stunned for an instant), and by end game he becomes almost unkillable
someone said it's better to start top with E instead of Q or W because of the cheap mana cost, but I haven't tried to confirm this
FedAsFuk1 votesIrelia, Renekton, Hecarim, Trundle (possibly?), Sion, Zac, Maokai, Cho'Gath, Rengar, Mater Yi. It mostly comes down to issues in gameplay. Rely on bushes to be in XP without getting harassed, use a dash to get to CS then return to bush ASAP.

Doesn't matter if you die like 5 times early game, once you have points in your abilities you'll be able to easily all in most ranged champs
Only Play Darius1 votesThat's the problem with Darius. When a ranged champ lanes vs Darius, Darius gets shit on and nothing he can really do about it.
When a melee champ lanes against Darius, Darius destroys his lane and there is nothing his opponent can do about it.
But to answer your question: 
Generally anyone who can quickly close the gap and do significant damage once they get there.
